fingerprints/smudges on screen - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Is it me or does the phone do a really great job curbing smudges and fingerprints on the front of the display?

Not good enough, the intial days it's good, after couple weeks once the coating is gone , you will see everything. Debating to try the glass protector from OnePlus.

Valid. I've only had the device for 3 days now

To me it seems the coating wore off rather quicker than on my Note 9 and other phones. But, it's not a big deal.

Well that's a shame. I had no idea there were coating on these phones for fingerprints.

Hey guys. Wondering if removing the screen protector will help. My 6T gets smudged a lot and it's kinda annoying.

Does anyone have a Matte screen protector? What about the quality?
Does it look better than glossy?
And is it real that the fingers don't grip anymore on the screen?

I got these for my Defy+. Quality is top-notch but aftre a week or so I decided that I didn't actually like the matte finish and I went back to the normal glossy finish type.

I never noticed a problem like that during the short time I had the matte one in place.
I've got one. Don't know about the brand, but the quality is kinda nice. Obviously, since we've got a Gorilla Glass, it won't be as scratch-proof as using no screen protector at all, but the look is amazing, the touch feeling is also great, and I've got no issues with touch anymore (before I was getting oversensitive touch due to sweating and dust, like when typing it got stuck on a key, and I had to turn off screen, clean it, then turn it back on and continue typing). Also, no peeling after some time (like I got with my previous glossy protector), just it's more susceptible to scratch.
K3n, where did you got one? (Brasil aqui também )
I've got the matte one of amzer.. and im liking it

Anti glare are good. But they take away the clarity of the screen and visiblity in open areas
Best part is It's smug free and finger prints is no more a problem.
Had it for long and then moved back to clear type screen guard.
The best are: http://www.nillkin.com/En/ProductView.asp?ID=832

i had a matte screen protector..it has pros and cons.
best thing is you dont have to worry about finger prints..
but it reduces the brightness and clarity.

yeah..me too..it made the touch unnatural.
i have an anti-glare screen protector too, and i find it great. no more fingerprints, i like the feel of the screen much more. yeah, it reduces clarity, but i dont think it reduces visibility or brightness. and mine is perfectly scratch resistant.
i have this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-X-MATTE-A...ccessories&hash=item3a750f6912#ht_2445wt_1270
I like the matte too. Bought from here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-3x-MATT...Accessories&hash=item45ff31e71c#ht_3878wt_932
and are a lot tougher than the cheapo screen protectors I have had in the past. It seemed a bit odd to start with with the friction but I am sure it 'smoothed off' after a week or two.

anti glare sp are generally smoother, and since our defy doesn't have those super clear amoled screen, we didn't loss much.
Ok, here it goes. I had the matte screen protector for around 6 months on my phone. After that time, it started peeling off (not too much of an issue, the whole peeling was off the screen), got heavily scratched and my touch issues came back, most likely because of the scratches. So, I decided to take it off. After that 6 months, I noticed how much clarity it took from the screen, it seemed like a different phone. The colors are way more vivid, almost like an AMOLED screen. So, here is my advice: get a glossy one. The feel of the protector is not that good after some time, and the amount of clarity lost on the screen is a price way too high to pay.
i tried a matte and a glare screen protector but the glare one is a bit nicer because the other one takes too much light....but it is in both cases a bit better for gliding over the screen
Matte is awesome!!
Well i use a amzer matte finish screen Guard , and i love it.
the slight texture on it makes the screen feel Awesome...
BUT you may not like the loss of clarity .....
I never buy expensive screen protectors as it always seems to take at least three tries until I get a completely flush and bubble free finish.
I got these matte protectors a while back from ebay and they've perfectly good.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-3x-MA...203932?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45ff31e71c
I wanted matte as I use the phone as a cycle computer/satnav and it certainly helps with the glare. Yes, they are smoother and the screen does not look as clear but they definitely do the job if you need to cut down glare.

I've just checked my ebay feedback and they came surprisingly quickly from HK, 8 days from ordering to arriving on the doorstep (I'm in UK).
Normally stuff from HK ebay sellers takes around 2 weeks unless it's dealextreme when it can take any time up to 8 years

I never re-use screen protectors as they never stay completely clean and dust free to reapply without bubbles. At the price of these, it's not much of an issue. I have had the same protector on since April so they are decent quality and will last. You never know when buying things from ebay; the screen protectors that they sell now may not be exactly the same as the ones I bought in Aptil.
thanks mate... now waiting for the screen gaurd!

[Q] Verizon Note 3 tempered glass

Who has the official Verizon tempered glass for the Note 3? How is the screen quality on your's? And does it work through the S view window with it on? Thanks, i'm in America now to visit my cousins and i came across a verizon tempered glass screen protector for the Note 3 and plan on buying it for 25 bucks.
Thumbs up
I put one on my note 3, no ill effects. works great, just expensive.

I would take it off immediately. There are numerous reports online that once the glass screen protector shatters , you risk shattering the glass underneath greatly and at least scratching it.

I used the one above and it works great. My gf had it for about 5 months and no bubbles.
Does get a little oily, but one good screen protector that doesn't start to form tiny bubbles. Some of the matte finish ones start to form bubbles randomly.
I got one and it is great, i am not sure why but i can see my note 3 easier in sunlight now, not sure if it is anti-glare or i am just going crazy. Does anyone know the EXACT thickness of this verizon tempered glass screen protector? I know it has 9H hardness though.
I purchased the Verizon one. I love it so far. Way better then traditional screen protectors and smooth to the touch. I'm not sure about the sview as I don't have one but works flawlessly with s pen. Great perk about buying it at Verizon is they will put it on for you. I know some people on here are pros but I get nervous putting mine one.

I had one of the "Chinese" glass screen protectors from eBay, and I loved it - not noticeable at all and very smooth to the touch... until the top edges began to separate and form huge bubbles at the top after only a few weeks. No matter what I did they wouldn't go away... it was driving me crazy so I had to take it off.
I'd love to hear from anyone that bought the Verizon one about how it's holding up after a few weeks of use.
Too bad I already used my $10 free isis promotion at Verizon.

That happened to my daughters Note 2.
Had the Spigen R on it, she bumped one corner of it on my kitchen counter and the Spigen cracked and spiderwebbed the hell out of the glass under it.

Yeah that's the other thing that drove me insane. I was VERY careful when putting it on, and immediately placed it on after removing the protective plastic, yet somehow a few pieces of dust got in there.... it's then impossible to get them out. Once you remove it fully, or try to get dust or anything off of the side that goes on the screen, it gets ruined. ?
Suffice to say, I'll never get ANY type of screen protector like that again. As much as I really don't want an actual case, it looks like I'll probably be getting the s-view case with built-in wireless charging capability.

Some of us didn't make the mistake but it was the only option as carriers only offered the phone in midnight blue. It was either that or wait longer [emoji14]
Buy a case or if you prefer to not use a case then get a dbrand and you won't have any finger prints in the back. Win win.
By the way, tip for those getting screen protectors. Get a tempered glass, plastic screen protectors love fingerprints and oil smudges.

Have you found one with a good fit? The bevelled edge of the screen is really nice, not sure how a glass SP will interact with that. Also, I would hope that the glass screen protector isnt fully cut out for the speakers, i.e the glass completely surrounds the speakers from all sides. Does such a protector exist?

Tempered glass ones are also more likely (though it's not a guarantee) to save your screen in event of a fall. Usually if I see a broken screen with a glass screen protector on it, when I pull that off, the screen itself is fine. The plastic ones however... I see them with broken screens all the time.
@rootSU: Haven't specifically looked for any myself yet, as I use a rugged case. However, I would imagine the Otterbox Alpha glass will probably get it right. If not them, then zNitro.
I actually love my blue Nexus . As for the finger prints scotch tape removes them quite nicely. But most of the time my device is in a clear case.
I chose the Midnight Blue since I had the White 2013 Moto X.
My White Moto X got perma stained in many places from skin, dirt, oil and more. I had it in a case 70% of the time, but didn't help.
I like the way the Cloud White looks. But I'm in the minority for liking the Blue. Not only will I not get a perma stained back on my new Nexus. I actually prefure the looks of MB on this phone.
I also have a Supcase Hybrrid coming in the mail so prints and smudges on the MB will be moot.
TL;DR:
Owning a White phone isn't as cool as you think and has cons in the long run.
Agree, love my midnight blue. Fingerprints aren't an issue if you just care for it and wipe it down once in a while. :good:

screen scratches

When I bought my s8 I didn't have enough money to get a screen protector. I'm OCD when it comes to screen scratches. And sadly I've accumulated a few. Does anyone know of a way to buff out these scratches?

Some cars cost less than £600.
No one goes to jail for a 'little' fraud. Law is absolute not a grey area. Sentences for crimes are proportionate to the crime. but as you admit in saying "It's not like it's a car" it is still illegal regardless.
Mine had a couple of scratches out of the box. But they are so shallow that are only visible at the certain lighting at certain angle and completely invisible under the screen protector or on a lit up screen. Unless you don't see them all the time - its fine. And I guess there is some coating on a glass that gets scratched - not glass itself. As it was mentioned before - its not easy to scratch it unless you wiped it with dirty cloth or sand. Many people don't use protectors at all and have 0 scratches in a year.
But get a screen protector anyway. Regular plastic one will do (I use official Samsung protectors). You will, probably, not see those scratches under it and it will help your device to look like new over the years.
PS: And yes, there is a couple of ways to remove the scratches, but you should never do it. It might be a success, but in 90% of cases you'll just scratch your screen much more.
Do Samsung do protectors for the S8? Any links, I'd be interested. Thanks.

The Samsung s8 scratches so easily within a day I had a deep scratch on it and within 4 days I have 5 just from taking it in and out of my pocket. Not impressed as the s5 I've had for 2 years dropped it so many times and not a mark on the screen

I was trying my hardest to be extremely careful with handling the phone. I haven't even taken the back plastic cover off yet. The only reason I took the front one off was cause it peeled off when I put it in my pocket (it was from Sprint and was completely clear)
I'm using a skin on the back of mine. No protector on the front yet and no scratches but I'm considering the official Samsung screen protector (Google it). Seen some good reviews even though I have protectors (especially film).
I always order a gadgetshield body protection; So the back side, front and al the way around the corners is protected for scratches. Has cost me 10 euro.

Can confirm screen is weak. Or at least the coating. Mine has fine scratches and one deep one. Used a s7 edge that didn't have any after a year so I'm surprised at how easily the s8 scratches.

S8 easy scratch
After just two days of using my galaxy s8+ has a big scratch. And I took care not to stand with the keys etc.... VERY DISSPAPPOINTED ((
I dont know how you guys use your phones, I've had mine since 19 april without any case or screenprotector and there is not even one tiny scratch. Never put it on rough surfaces, and always put it alone in my pocket. I'm planning to get a case and screenprotector to not have to isolate it all the time tough.

For the ones that use your devices without screen protector...

How long do you guys have been using your devices? Did you get any scratch?

hello,
more than one month of use, no problem at all with no any screen protector.
regards
saw badly scarred glass screens of a couple of friends s8+'s... shat bricks on seeing that...
have put a tempered glass screen protector over mine...
not the best thing to do, i know... the curved edges make it practically impossible for the glass to remain stuck in pace... but anything better than shredding the screen anyway.
in the meantime, my search for a slim film as a screen protector continues.
I use no screen protector and no case. Never have on any phone. Have never had a single scratch or mark on any of my screens (iphone 2s, S2, S3, S5, S8+).
Never used any screen protector just an ultra thin case. Screen is not scratched.
Got it shortly after release and glass still perfect.
I've had mine a month, glass is still fine. I usually don't run screen protectors on my phones.
I've had mine a week, and touch-wood no scratches.
That being said, I'm waiting for my Whitestone Dome protector to arrive.
The moment it's here I'm using it.
I ended up going naked with my S7e too and didn't have any issues but I feel like I should be more careful with this device.
Just my two cents.
Ever since my Galaxy note 3I have never use the screen protector never had any scratches whatsover on my note for Note 3, Note 4, Note 5, S6 edge, S7 edge, add my latest S8+ either.
You'll be surprised how strong and scratch free this gorilla glass is.
Make sure to use a heavy duty protective case though. One good drop and I'm pretty sure your screen is gonna crack without one.
I have been super careful with the phone since I bought it about two weeks ago yet seem to have two deep scratches. Never have had problems with glass scratching on previous phones.

yeah. I haven't used a screen protector on any phone in 5ish years (multiple android and iphones) and never had scratches like this phones gotten.
I even dropped my S7E and it slid across concrete, still looks perfect. S8+ is babied and kept in it's own pocket, etc. Looks like ass.
have a clump of dead pixels too that really pisses me off. May try and get samsung to warranty it, but really just waiting for the Note 8.

My is the exynos variant, made in my country, Brazil. Maybe, the process utilized here, is better than that used in China or Taiwan. I'm saying this because I've been using my phone for two weeks, and no scratches or dead pixels here. I'm also using my device without a screen protector.
I baby the crap out of my phones and I have barely noticeable scratches on mine only if I look at it a certain way. I ordered a glass screen protector and it's surprise me how clear it is can't even tell I have it on and works perfect with the spigen kickstand case
