Additional battery drain from connected smartwatch? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi folks,
I'm presently in the process on deciding on a smartwatch - presently looking especially at the Huawei Watch GT.
As battery life is an important issue for me, I would be very interested to know which additional battery drain is to be expected from a connected smartwatch on the Oneplus 6T.
Looking forward to your comments, thanks,
Axel

I'm using a Samsung gear S3 and don't notice any significant battery drain, although I keep my notifications pretty minimal on my watch.

it obviously depends on alot of things, like how many/often you get notifications, and such on your watch..
bottom line is who cares how much battery it uses; we buy these phones/watches/etc to use them, not to worry about how much battery might get used if we actually use the device..

I've got a Fenix 5 and it hardly has any impact on my battery, I've also got a Huawei watch GT which will suck the life right out of my 6t in about 8 hours flat. Huawei has a hell of a lot of learning and development to do before they catch up to Garmin or Samsung, that being said the battery life is pretty awesome when continuous heart rate and true sleep is disabled.

Ive got a fenix 5 as well connected to it, and I see no real drain on the phone at all from it..as a matter of fact, overnight, even with the phone connected, I only lose 2% of battery with it, very impressive!

Using a Gear S3. Haven't seen any crazy drain.

[Q] Battery life question (before buying)

I'm considering buying Nexus 4 and after reading various reviews and user opinions my only concern is - how is the battery life?
Some are saying it's great, others are saying it's crap... See me confused.
I've got no intention of using it for watching movies or heavy gaming, but would still like it to last me at least whole day without charging (24 hrs).
Currently, my SGS2 lasts from 1,5-2 days without charging (I'm using JuiceDefender).
Can anyone comment on the subject, especially compared to SGS2?
I had a galaxy s2 before the nexus. Compared to my s2 the nexus pisses through power mainly on WiFi and surfing the web. Location services and google now use battery a lot too + overnight i loose more power compared to thr s2. I'm hoping its software related and Google improve battery in updates to JB.
I don't believe those who say the battery is great for one minute.
Pretty damn good so far for me my SGS2 would be dead in half the time, even with the screen off!

Who watches porn on a small screen vs a huge monitor? :silly:
Depending on the apps you use, battery drain can be a huge downer for this phone. I use eBuddies for aim chats at work and that thing drains through, so does GChat. Navigation apps such as Google Maps or Navigon also burn battery like there's no tomorrow.
So the question of battery life really is dependent on your daily needs. The difference with other phones is that some have removable batteries.
Expect to invest in a mobile recharger, or to have spare charge cables always on hand with this phone.
I don't do much with my N4 during the day and came over from an SGS2. SGS2 by far outperforms the N4 on battery life from my experiences.
It seems the N4 has fantastic idle battery drain. I let it sit a full 7 hours over night and lost 3% battery, but it seems when you're actually using the phone, the battery is middle of the road. I'd say its still better than my S2 and as good, or slightly better than my S3. :good:

Battery life discussion thread

Don't know why there isn't a thread for it yet, so I took the time to make one! Discuss your battery life, and any tips that can increase them here.
I am using t810 with latest firmware. When I don't use my tablet, I turn it off, for example I turn it on for Internet browsing and then when I go out I turn it off until I need it again.
I can't get more than 5,30-6 hours sot, with most of time Internet browsing and 10-15minutes of gaming.. I think battery life is worse than Galaxy tab s...
I get 7 hours sot on average, with 6.30 being the lower bound and 8 hours being the upper bound. Everything is stock. WiFi turns off when in standby (stock option in WiFi settings), so there is no drainage when in standby.
I use it half of the time for browsing and half of the time YouTube.

It almost certainly is, the battery is significantly smaller. The OG S was a beast.

My battery life is solid, it doesn't drain much at all when on and not in use or just browsing the internet. It lasts awhile while playing San Andreas. I always use the OEM charger and cable having had issues with other phones mixing chargers and cables. Also I think I read something saying the first few weeks of use to keep the battery as full as possible but not leaving it plugged in over night for exaple or off for an extened time.

Quick question: on my T710 on 5.0.1 I don't seem to be abke to see the specific battery usage, eg: how much battery used by wifi. Typically I would tap the battery graph to get these details, but doesn't seem to work on my S2?
I'm pretty impressed with the battery life of my 817T. I don't feel like I've had it long enough yet to say average SOT, but I only need to charge it every 2-3 days with some gaming, browsing, maybe a reboot or 2, and a fair amount of etc. It barely loses anything on standby, which is impressive. The only thing is it feels like it charges so slow but that's only because I'm used to using QC 2.0 on my Note 4! It's not a problem or anything; it would be nice if it had some LEDs for charging though.
hi all...i got this on wifii and its verry good for me

Nope, Samsung dropped that feature from it TouchWiz Nature 5 skin.
I'm getting 9 hrs SOT really good for the battery size. stock tw using lux, package disabler, stock keyboard, Google launcher
Getting a fairly good number on mine, considering this was first cycle, and that I have no special optimizations for it like turning off WiFi when screen off, and I haven't messed around with the settings at all to improve battery.

Good for you. I'm using T815Y 9.7" and got around 8h onscreen. It's quite good

I got 8-10 hours SOT with gaming, browsing, emails ,....
and in sleep I get 0.15% per hour
I'm loving its battery life
my only problem is slow charging, it gets around 20% per hour with its own charger so it takes almost 5 hours to fully charge
I've noticed that CM12.1 gives allot better battery performance on my Tab then before. I'm still not sure if my tab came with a bad battery but on stock samsung I only got about 3h maybe 4h of screen usage. On CM i'm assuming (note, I haven't run a battery test yet) to get about 8-9h when I see how slow the percentage goes down.
Getting very good results almost 8 hours of SOT with heavy usage (browsing web, playing some hearthstone, temple run, subway surfers and watching youtube)
Very strange for battery of that capacity seems like system is really optimized
Which version is this?

I can't tell you right now how long my SOT is but the battery life of my T810 is really unexpected great.
I'm using it always with the Bluetooth keyboard from the official cover and the Samsung mouse. I'm typing a lot in university and using it at home for surfing, YouTube and Emails. I don't play any games on my tab and I have to charge it every 4 - 5 days. For its big screen I can't complain about the battery life!
Charing with the stock charger takes about 4 hours. When I plug my Tab S2 into my Anker Powerbank it just takes 2 - 3 hours.
I'm on the latest 5.0.2 firmware available in Germany.

Does anybody use the Optimalrom with Greenify? Or the best is to use stock?

After having all the iPad generations and trying about a dozen or more Android tablets... have to say the S2 is the first tablet i've had that has a iPad-like battery life.. Doesn't appear to drain while in standby (just like an iPad).. So it's a finally usable tablet in my eyes.. My problem was Android tablets just sitting in my bag would lose 20% a day.. Glad to see Android has figured out how to address the issue.

Battery life on LG G4 h815

Hi guys
I have just purchased a new LG g4 h815.
I am loving the speed, the looks and everything but I have an issue regarding battery life. I am getting a screen on time of around 2.5 hrs with moderate to heavy use, is it normal for LG g4 though to don't play any games or stuff . Previously I had used a Samsung Note 4 it had an amazing battery life, screen on time was around 3.5 to 4 hrs with moderate to heavy use.
Any suggestions to improve battery life I have turned off location services, auto sync and Bluetooth, screen brightness is @40 % but WIFI is turned on constantly
I have surfed a lots of sites and forums most of them are complaining about the battery life of this phone but still most of them are getting around 3 to 3.5 hrs of screen on time.

The only thing you can do is get back on lollipop. 6h SOT is pretty average score on lollipop

I have basically given up on this phone. Never get any updates (in Norway) and battery is very poor. The worst phone I ever had comparing battery. You should not have to turn off everything and tweak the phone and ask in forums to get good battery time. My father have a samsung brand and don't know **** about android or phones and have he's phone full of crap and never optimized it for anything and he STILL have great battery... Much better than mine. Weird right?
A thing I think, is that this phone struggle with WiFi. I have a lot of wifi disconnects and it gets very hot when it struggles with wifi. Sometimes when im at home I can have 60% left battery and not use it for a while and then suddenly have 40%...

Having just gone though the same hassles, I found the only way to get good battery life is to get the latest version of Lollipop (V10F-TWN-XX for me), root and install Greenify to hibernate hungry apps like facebook etc. I find my battery life is now better than my old G2. I get about 3+ hours SOT and lots of standby time. (Its 10:20 am right now, usage on battery is 3h 35 mins, estimated time remaining is 155 hours, 3 % use in last 3h, 28m screen on time) Previously my battery would have been on 50-60% by mid day, now its in the 90s.
I was almost ready to ditch the phone and find something else, which would have been a shame as I like this phone.
What I tried and found along the way:
- Use the battery charger that came with the phone, the charger that came with my phone had a different plug so I used another brand. This was charging my battery too fast and causing it not to hold as much charge.
- I tried almost every Marshmallow stock rom I could find. Nothing seemed to be that great with the battery.
- I disabled wifi when not in use, location bluetooth etc...went back to almost no apps just to see what was causing poor battery, but determined it wasn't anything other than the system.
Anyway, thats what worked for me. Hope that helps.
Great battery life on Genisys for BL developed by Ignacio R. No root, bloatware blocked, Hibernation Manager on board. It's not heavy used, most browser on wifi/lte, g+, youtube.

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Huawei Mate 20, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Huawei Mate 20 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I've received my Mate 20 pro in Twilight colour. Got it yesterday, but I'm holding off on it until the weekend to play with it. Here in Norway in does not come with the clear case unfortunatly, but I've ordered a few to come soon hopefully.

Where did you get yours? Same situation here also from Norway. I find some on various websites but its only the 4GB model. Is yours too or did you get the 6GB one?
I got it a few days ago and I am seriously impressed overall, especially with the hardware.
Previously I had a HTC 10 which I loved dearly, but was betrayed by a fast degrading battery (see HTC 10 forum, 90% of threads are about it). It got to the point where i had to permanently dock the phone to a bank because it could no longer hold a charge.
This thing though, oh boy. The fact that I don't have to charge it for 2 days is enough of a reason for me to love it. I need to get used to how big phones are these days, I've already dropped it once trying to lock the phone with one hand starting with a grip on the upper half of the phone (I know, real awkward, had doritos grease on the other hand). I can barely toss a ball in pokemon go now because it's so weird moving my finger the extra distance. I've also had to scale down all the UI elements so my eyes can read everything more easily like my last phone.
It's a ton of fun though. I will be sure to look after this thing's health more than my HTC, with greenify and a native Android Oreo OS, I hope I don't have to change phones for a long time.
Best phone ever
Have been using it for 24 hrs now. Comming from a OnePlus 6 the battery is amazing and I love the camera! Great phone overall.
Yep, got one last weekend also (Midnight Blue) and coming from a 2 year old Galaxy S7 Edge I'm blown away by the battery life! I'm at 9h of SOT after 1 day and 19h off the charger and I'm still at 28% LOL! It's almost indecent, that's what it is! And this is just my first charge... I happily give up wireless charging for this kind of battery performance. The S7 Edge barely gets 4h of SOT and something like 30h before dying. And it's not just the battery capacity, it's also about the OS optimization which the Samsung messed up about 1 year ago.
Although still not a perfect device, it does some things so well (impressive battery, remarkable screen - I'm looking at it next to my S7 Edge and I can't believe it's an LCD!, tiny notch, superb - I'd say flawless - construction) that in my opinion brings it closer to 5 stars than to 4 stars

I agree, battery life is insane on this phone. I tracked my battery consumption for one month using AccuBattery. On average I had a 4% drop in battery life for every screen on hour. The corresponding number for OnePlus 6T was 7%. Everything on this phone is top notch except EMUI.

Yes, that's more or less what GSam Battery Monitor shows me, around 4-5% battery usage during screen on. At the same time I get around 4% battery drain per 48h due to wakelocks, mostly Play Store Services localisation (GPS always on).
Useful information about the 6T by the way. I almost got that one for the OS and the in-screen fingerprint scanner, but I couldn't get pass the much higher than average SAR value. I expected the Mate 20 to have better battery life than the 6T (even with its LCD screen), but I didn't expect it to be this good.

I actually think Mate 20 is superior OP6T in almost every way except the user interface. I bought a used OP6T since I was dissatisfied with EMUI on Mate 20. However, after using OP6T a couple of days I sold it and went back to Mate 20 for the following reasons.
- As already mentioned, the battery life is clearly better on Mate 20.
- Mate 20 is the prettier phone, smaller bezels and overall nicer looking compared to OP6T.
- Speed is more or less the same but I felt that Mate 20 was slightly faster when opening apps.
- The rear camera is slightly better on Mate 20. Probably due to the large 1.55um pixels on the main rear sensor on Mate 20. I also missed the ultra wide angle sensor on OP6T.
- I like the screen quality better on Mate 20. Blacks are deeper on OP6T due to AMOLED but bright backgrounds look better on Mate 20 and I also felt that the screen on Mate 20 was more crisp and vibrant.
- The screen size is clearly larger on Mate 20 due to 6,53 inch and 18:7 aspect ratio. The screen on OP6T is too narrow and do not feel that much larger than a regular 6 inch 18:9 screen.
The hardware design of Mate 20 with the UI of OP6T would more or less be the perfect smartphone.

S10 Plus Battery drain

Hey all,
I’m a new owner of the S10 plus Exynos version. Very happy with the device but I have a question I hope you all can help me with. It’s regarding stand by or idle battery drain. Overnight I lose around 0.7 percent battery per hour. I leave the Bluetooth on and AOD off.
I recently sold the Mate 20 pro which had zero drop over night and would still wake up with 100 percent the next morning. iPhones also seem to be pulling this off. Not sure if Samsung just shows battery decline differently or if I can be doing something better with the s10 plus in order to achieve the same result as the mate 20 pro or iPhone.
The app layout I have is identical to what I had on the mate 20 pro. I read somewhere that apple does this on purpose. Not sure if Huawei does it as well.
Hope you all can educate me on what to expect out of android battery usage.
Thanks all
0.7 * 8h = 5.6% sightly high for new phone. In general Android wil loose 3-4% over night with great battery. 5-8 % is average, more than 10% is battery start getting bad.
It's also depends how many apps you have, how many running in the backgrounds, sync on or of.f..... many other factors.
Thanks for the reply
Not sure what I’m doing wrong...most services are running in the background ....the mate 20Pro didn’t have this problem.
Too bad I really liked this phone and wanted to give it a try but this subpar battery life is killing my battery OCC

Yeah, I used Huawei phone before. There modify Android is working very good with batteries. It's better then Samsung and LG phones for sure ( for battery)
No current Samsung phone is going to beat Huawei's aggressive low standby drain. Anything under 1% per hour during standby is good for a Samsung device.

Thanks for the great replies I feel a bit better knowing that it’s not my device but just Samsung being less effecient in killing background processes. I wonder why the YouTubers all hail the battery life of the S10plus if an average consumer like me can’t see it or achieve it ....if I have to make peace with more or less 1 percent on idle then I guess I’ll have to accept it and put my battery ocd to rest lol
you have to wait for 7 days for the battery to get use to the processes because it's a new device

Most the youtubers have their s10 plus given to them by Samsung for free at the Unpack 2019 event. Hence favourable reviews.

i would have preferred no unnecessary killing of background processes. some services i need them running. and this phone allows both apps to be running at the same time in split screen.
