Oneplus 6T best method of enabling call recording - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

As we know, the android 9 disabled non root call recording access.
What would be the best approach for rooting for this particular use scenario? The usual oem unlock -> custom recovery -> magisk?
Is there still a way to encrypt the storage after all this? I did search around quit a bit and got mixed results. Some security would be nice in case of loosing my phone. And how about the actual recording software, my old phone had boldbeast installed and it appears to be supporting the (rooted) 6T as well.

Not too sure.. but am planning to try magisk module that provides this and some additional features.

What utter bull**** from Google.

[Help] Root Only / Lineage OS

Hi there,
I would need some help on a decision making process and was wondering if some of you please could help me out
I bought a (Australian) ZTE A2017GV1.0.0B08 yesterday (on Android 6.0.1, Kernel 3.18.20) and while I am waiting for case & screen protector I am considering two options (if possible):
1) root only + xposed
2) Unlock bootloader + Lineage OS
Questions regarding 1)
- Main reason for this: Is it possible to keep the bootloader locked and root only (to keep warranty)?
- Would ‘root only’ make it possible to get rid of the ‘phoning home’? (Lineage Os might be at an advantage here) – referring to this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/spyware-7-1-1-update-a2017gv1-2-0b02-t3591594
- What about updates – do they need to be disabled or is it a case of simply having to re-root? Or better wait for Nougat, and root then (Or is rooting Nougat more problematic)?
Questions regarding 2)
- For installing LOS I think this is the guide I would be after? https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-install-twrp-unlock-bl-flash-t3517379
- What about Lineage Os updates, are they kind of automated or do they require going through the whole process again?
- No SU in Lineage OS – what about apps that require root (e.g. Titanium) – can SU be easily switched on/off for using such an app? Or is it better to root then and hope Google doesn't complain?
- Does the newest LOS still need a sound fix? https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/sound-fix-los-los-base-roms-t3587373 and https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/experience-roms-headphone-audio-t3592264
Most importantly - Which approach is less risky regarding bricking the device?
Other pros / cons to consider I didn’t think off?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Note: Just to clarify my level of understanding – last time I played around with a phone was 2 years ago, and that simply required towelroot + installing SU + xposed. So practically a no-brainer compared to this...

Make Encryption work with Root

Hello,
I have very important security needs and I'm forced to have my data encrypted everywhere.
However on all my old androids phone encryption work perfectly with custom recovery and root.
How can I enable both encryption and root on my brand new SM-G950F ???
I have look everywhere, impossible to find anybody who have an encrypted S8 running with Magisk and a custom recovery
I have experience with Android and Linux and I am willing to try everything to avoid reselling a phone that I love and that I bought just today...
I have the very same problem. Did you find a solution for having both, root and encryption?
i would like to know also

PreUnlock Questions. Keeping DRM keys? Root implications? Restrictions?

Hi, after over a year without unlocking my Moto G 5 Plus I'm eager to make the move to unlock and root it. But I've seen that things have changed quite a bit since the last time I rooted my old phone.
As far as I know unlocking the bootloader wipes the DRM keys for ever. What implications does that have? Is there any way to back them up before unlocking to restore them later? What won't work without them?
Will it influence Netflix and Banking apps like Mobilepay (Denmark)? From what I could find out Magisk can help to patch the system without being detected. How does Safety net detect system changes? How to prevent an accidental system change that would break SafetyNet? What about future updates to SaftyNet?
I'm mainly planning to unlock Camera2 API and Miracast. And also install XPosed and some audio enhancement mod if possible. Would any of these break SafetyNet? Would a 64bit ROM break SafetyNet?
Any information is highly appreciated.

help with either downgrading or changing rom to keep call record

Hi i have samsung s8 and have lost call record function and needed it several times.
I have tried loud speaker and changing settings but want to get it working again.
What is the best solution for this as i want to keep my banking apps working aswell so i cant root the phone
I have downloaded the firmware from sammobile for android 8 but before downgrading i have alot of photos and videos i am currently backing up.
I need to know if there are other solutions as i want to get all security patches and keep banking apps working but also keep call record. and android 8 will have vulnerability.
I have heard changing phone rom to another country may keep it updated but need help to which country can i change to that will allow call records.
from what i know - All Android 9 roms require Root.
So you have to downgrade to Android 8 if you dont want to root.
I have Android 9 and all my banking apps work, except for Samsung Pay.
Install Magisk and you can hide root detection for your banking apps. That way you can have Android 9 with Root and enable Call record - but still have your banking apps working.

I tried downgrading but it failed and i tried rooting my phone and successfully got to welcome screen after installing magisk but when i did a reboot it went into bootloop with "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed"
I tried twice and get that message and can only install latest android 9.
I was on latest update prior to rooting so not sure if they stop flashing somehow.
I got unlock bootloader but cant flash anything as i get soft bricked.

is root worth it on S10?

I recently got a contracted Exynos S10 and have been reading some of the horror stories here after failed root etc
How stable is the S10 after root/unlocking bootloader? magisk is pretty cool , aye
Should I root it?..
Horror stories come from people whom don't do research and follow instructions slowly and carefully, and not confident.
And make it out as its the actual root that's the issue, not them.
I got my s10 plus just 4 weeks ago, i read up for few days, watched videos, understood how root is different slightly to past models.
I found this video which is excellent to help understand about unlocking bootloader and rooting.

Thou i used only how to unlock bootloader from this video, after i downgraded back to pie from ten, then installed a stock with twrp and magisk already patched with superb help from the member, Comsite:-https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/root-unsuccessful-everytime-t4042427
Then if you want to get rid of ugly bootloder warnings splash screens, go here:- https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/development/g97xf-soldier9312s-splash-screen-t3929748
Yes rooting is different, but take your time and go for it, so many benefits from rooting for personal reasons :good:
It depends. If you are fine using the phone without Samsung Pay and OTA. Is worth it.

But is it stable. I find the S10 unusable when Ive got too many background apps running or do something else it doesn't like. Nearly every phone Ive owned has been rooted so I know abit about it.
Ok so I wanna root my S10 ,but when I reboot to download mode (OEM unlock checked) I hold volume up but I don't get a prompt to unlock bootloader, also, i can't enter recovery or download manually , bixby + vol down/up & power. Any ideas??
Success!
I tried to install official twrp in the thread. Big mistake. Nearly killed my S10
It wasn't untill I flashed stock including stock ap file from Odin that I could flash magisk, kept saying only official firmware can be flashed to this device or somethin... :silly:
In my personal opinion,
- 5 to 10 years back, rooting has lots of more benefits
- currently, there are many alternative solutions to rooting for ad blocking, freeze apps etc.
I did not root my phones after S8 and now s10+.

I did not regret rooting my S10 on pie. Themes, magisk modules like viper4android.. it's awesome
I rooted my S10+ Snapdragon (as I have my last 5 phones) first and foremost for Gravitybox and 'Hold back to kill'. After that it was for Afwall+, Edxposed/Magisk, Xprivacy, AppOpps, Greenify, Button Mapper, Icebox, Isolated app storage, and the excellent Maxlock. Samsung warns rooting makes your phone less secure, which is true if u lose it. Password can be bypassed and won't be encrypted, ADB vulnerable etc... So don't root, just let Samsung(among others) run network connections in the background for almost every function you choose
I feel much more secure not being data mined constantly.

I updated to 10 with magisk 20.3 and it's much better than pie. Awesome
Edit: downloaded with frija this is the ops stock rom I used. 1/3/20 sec patch. Includes already magisk patched ap file :good:
