Picture a being double counted in memory? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

The OP gallery is showing a large amount of data while Google Photos is showing a much smaller size. Additionally, there is a separate pictures file showing a large amount of data.
Does anyone know what the deal with this is?

TouchFlow Picture Dialer.

Is there a set resolution or size the picture has to be so it can be clear in the box? Thanks!
i have the same question cause my pictures are distorted
My pictures are currently set to 2MP, there is no distortion in the pic whatsoever. The only problem is that it takes a while for the pictures to load up, i'm not sure if its because they are located on the storage card or because of the large resolution of the picture. Whats the resolution of the pictures you use???
I'm pretty sure that we can assume phonebook pics are saved onto the phone itself, not storage card... because if you take your storage card out, the pictures should still work.... plus that's built into the whole outlook/contacts part of the phone.
Whenever I'm cropping pictures I usually make them somewhere in the range of 150x150 - 200x200 or somewhere along those lines. It just depends... I haven't really sat there and thought about it too hard.
actually i do have the same problem. the pictures are shown very small and blurry this is even though the original pictures are pretty large and sizable...
is there any problem to customize the incoming call window anyway
my resolutions are SUPER high like 1600x1200 and its still blurry
yeh same here my pictures are 2mb in size from an 8 megapix camera soo i dont why its still blurry i tried puttin it in the phone insteead of the storage card but its still blurry
make the photos .png, I use that hand have very nice pictures
yeh no luck with the .png either
anyone care to post am image of a distorted image...
what do youll use to get a screen shot sorry iam new at this???
I actually think your images may be too large, you are using 2mp images with a very high res and then squeezing them down to a very small part of a 240x320 screen, try resizing your pictures down to say 200x200 or somthing like 120x160, this will also make them much smaller and save mem, and load much faster ...
all my contact pictures, for the dialer are like 240x240 and they all look fine ...
Using a 2mp image on a 240x320 screen is just going to wast your memory anyway ....

it doesn't really eat the memory, only uses .1mb to access but the main problem is that it takes a while to load up the pics, and they only load one at a time. will try the resize
As for taking a pic of the screen

True it does not waste memory, unless you are not storing the pics on a storage card, then it just eats storage memory for the large pic, but storing pics that big in main mem, would just be silly anyay ...
yeh i tried resizing it still blurr....
"update"
ok finally got it after I installed pocketcm the pictures cleared up thanks guys for ur help
its not really a matter of picture size, what i found is that is actually a problem with the orientation of the picture.
when the phone is in normal view, HTC home screen crops the picture, very baddly. the picture gets a square ratio, but when HTC home screen is in the landscape orientation, the same blurry pictures now look perfect. what i've done is to change all my pictures to have a square ratio or atleast a vertical 4:3 ratio
my 2 cents
how does pocketcm work? helps a lot?
The Answer
The Answer to the original question is to use the 'Change Picture' from the Menu Button on TouchFlo 3D. For some reason, chaning the picture in either Pocket Outlook or Desktop Outlook distorts the picture and doesn't keep the resolution. I hope that this can solve the thread.
Edit - Sorry if I sound smug but this post was first on my google search but I didn't find the answer for another 2 hours!!! I reckoned this would stop others from having to hunt.

Tumbnails

Hello,
For some reason all my album tumbnails are corrupted. Meaning the picture on the album folder is full of colored lines, sometimes the whole picture, sometimes half a picture corupt.
Anyone any idea how to restore the images on my album tumbnails?
Do you mean when you scroll to 'Pics & Vids' then click 'Albums' and view the camera shots in thumbnail view?
I have this same problem too - it has only happened recently after I deleted the album cache on my device as I was running low on memory.
As soon as I went back into my Albums, the cache file size would obviously start increasing again, but only the first 10 or 15 images in the thumbnail view now display properly, the rest appear black with the coloured lines running across like you mentioned
At first thought it might be a memory issue and it couldn't handle saving too many thumbnails, but I have since freed up some more memory (50+meg) by deleting Google Maps, Opera cache etc and still have the issue so cant be that.
Hopefully someone else can be more helpful
Same issue idd...
Anyone know a solution for this?

Wireless Storage Problem?

So for a few days now I've been using the wireless storage function on my G2 to transfer pictures over to my computer. It's usually around 150-200 photos. I use I.E. to browse my wireless storage files, however, there is always one picture missing within the folder, but I can still see the picture on my phone. And I'm not talking about after I transfer my photos over to my computer, I'm talking about inside the network drive (\\192.168.0.XX). I'll attach a few pictures so you can better understand. I've tried to Google the problem, but I've had no success. . This is not a huge problem, it's just annoying when I need to have all of the pictures for sure and then I have to do a man hunt to find out which one is gone. Thanks, all help is much appreciated.
Is it really missing or just miscalculate?
Next time, try to transfer 10 images and see if one missing or not.

Nothing is being transferred. Like I said, it's in the G2 network drive where the photo is missing. Look in the photo I uploaded that's showing the 265 photos being selected, nothing was transferred prior to that screen-grab
EDIT - Also notice the network map in the first photo (\\192.168.0.10\g2\sdcard0\DCIM\100LGDSC)

Google Photos not deleting files from device.

I'm noticing that I'm building up Image data even though I'm deleting every picture I take off of the device once it's uploaded to the cloud. However when I check the SD card storage the pictures are still there. Thumbnails as well. Hire can I fix this?
Bueller.... Bueller?
So far I've tried deleting data from Photos camera, and media storage to no avail.
I'm thinking it might have to do with the trash holding photos for 60 days before permanently deleting.

Not sure if you've done this, but with newest version of photos, you can go into Settings and select Free Up Space and then it'll look for already uploaded photo to the cloud and remove it from your device. I do this about every 2 weeks to free up the device. I recommend cross reference the photos between app and photos.google.com to make sure. Also have NAS locally to back it up too.

OS (System Data) Taking up 28.8gb? [Solved]

For some reason, I seem to be running out of space on my 128gb version of the OP5.
As you can see from the screenshots, System data shows as 28.8gb and in the Storage + Memory it states other is 38gb . This can't be true as the largest folder is my DCIM folder which is 36.8gb which is accounted for in the "Images and Videos" section.
I've had a look through myself at various folders and just don't understand where this 28.8gb is. My friend who also has a OP5 has this value at around 6 gb which is understandable for the OS, but this can't be typical as owners of the 64gb model would be complaining about this for sure.
Any suggestions? I'd rather not convert to uploading all my images to google photos to save space.

Thanks for the input but I realised there was an update for the app I was using to calculate storage use in terms of support for Oreo. I was under the impression Spotify was taking up 10-15gb of usage, but in actual fact it was just over 30gb. This clears things up.
Use this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobile_infographics_tools.mydrive
Used it once to know what took space on an S6 Edge when S Voice took 9 GB for nothing. You should be able to see what's the curlprit.
