Hi.
Just bought s7 edge loving it.
Before i was using iphone 6s. I also used note 5 for week i didnt liked touch response was bit low latency and slow unlinke iphone.
I really like new series. Everything is good. I started noticing new thing. Touch response is also good on this phone but I saw new thing. When we hold finger on touchscreen also like when we rearrange icon by holding it.
I see touchscreen is wiggling like a old phone is getting charge and touchscreen is shaking like virus..
Have you ever noticed that?
Or screen is over sensitive?
I will also make video to describe.
Edit.

Doesn't do it here (using the Exynos variant)
I see what you mean but I have not noticed it on mine. I would if I had it because I'm sensitive to stuff like that. Though it IS a sensitive screen. Even after the update that fixed the severe oversensitivity. It's not a problem anymore though. Before the update it would register presses before you even touched the screen. Hovering the finger 0,5mm above the screen would trigger it.
I would say i have noticed what you are experiencing.
but not to a level it was noticeable./
To me it felt more like the phone was responsive to my touch more than previous devices.
And as this is incredibly quick, it was reflecting this on the animation
(While other devices that are slower would not show it)
I noticed this stopped when using the tip of my thumb instead of the flat.
But more productive, What version are you running?
There has been various updates that improve the stability.
I upgraded and rolled back due to loosing a feature.
(Whitelisting Caller ID) (Stops unwanted calls)
But noticed a improvement to the touch sensitivity being abit over sensative one may say

Thanks for replies.
Im running pd1 something like that written at last.
For me it's not big issue.
I hope you got what I tried to show.
I mean I only see wiggle when I hold finger after sec it get fine but for sec it wiggles. There is also a wiggle when I swipe left right instantly I'm not talking about it.
I'm talking about, when I try to zoom a picture. It wiggles when on stable finger for a sec. Software down the touch response after a sec then wiggle gets fine.

Yea it's not annoying but it feels cheap.
Actually cheap phones have this thing especially when we use it while charging.
I'm not saying s7 edge is bad phone. I still love it.
But I really seek fix for that.

This is a software "issue" and not a hardware issue, so this is something that can be fixed by an OTA. Could you install Nova Launcher and see if the wiggling is still there? I just want to check that it's not anything with the Samsung launcher.

bought a brand new indian set s7 edge. And i am also facing the same issue. What is to be done to fix it? I have tried the *#2663# stuff. It doesnt help at all.
Yeah my phone does that too!
It STILL ANNOYS me daily because I notice some imperfect scrolling! I am very sensible to smooth scrolling and I can notice some imperfections on this phone!
Besides it jumps up sometimes when scrolling down... and the opposite way around!
See my poll on g+: https://plus.google.com/+GeorgesGeagea/posts/Vp8Xc5nwTtt
Try *#2663# and Update the stuff there. It will help. What i think is that its an over sensitivity problem. Had it alot on Note 4. Not any on s7 edge. I have the Exynos version.
Hi.
Ever since I own the S7 Edge I'm facing a strange behavior with the fingerprint scanner.
I used all slots for fingerprints. Every slot for a separate finger.
Now the precision of the recognition is fine only for a few days, then I'm facing the same problem. An error-prone. With increased regularity I have try 2-3... times to unlock the device with my finger (most of the time I use the thumb).
After deleting and imputing the fingerprints again it works fine again for a few days. Till next time.
I already flashed another stock ROM for another reason but it didn't change the behavior.
Anyone facing the same problem?
Best. Misspelling. Ever.
Gotta agree, fingerprint lockscreen worked flawlessly first few days, but ever since I'm finding it more and more difficult to unlock the phone. Weird.

Only thing I can think of is the basics. Make sure you're on the latest firmware for your device (use Samsung's Smart Switch software to install the latest factor rom, if available in your country). Also, some people have reported improved fingerprint accuracy by enabling Good Lock.

I'm already on the latest German multi-rom. As I said noticed the problem before flashing this ROM to my 935FD.
I installed Good Lock a few weeks ago but had several problems like the color settings eg. Maybe I'll give it a try
in later versions. Also I don't use TW I like Google Now Launcher the best.
Hm. But it seems I'm not the only one. So maybe there will be a fix in further updates.
I read in another thread that the APD1 update really messed up fingerprint recognition accuracy. Could this be the issue ?

Nope.
This issue was already present on my device with Feb firware as i got it. But yes I read this, too.
Has always worked fine for me. The only time it has trouble is if my hands/fingers are dirty.
APD1 did not mess up mine (Rooted & Xposed 935FD Stock ROM) - works waaaaaayyyyy better than my S6E
I switched from the S5 to the S7 Edge (Exynos). I've always loved the fingerprint reader in the S5. There always seemed to be someone in the IT media complaining about how poor it was, but that just never seemed to be the case for me - custom rom or stock.
I have to admit that from day 1, I've struggled with the S7. With my S5, I had a fingerprint saved for my right hand thumb, right hand thumb while holding the phone with one hand, right forefinger and also left forefinger and thumb.
With my S7, I've had to use all of the slots for my thumb and although it improves a bit with the more fingerprints I've stored, I don't find it as successful as the S5.
I haven't done any testing with both devices side by side, but only a few times a day would the S5 give me problems. I feel with the S7 that it's lucky if I get in first time. Several times a day, I have to type the PIN backup.
I initially thought that it might be just getting used to the larger device. I'm not sure. I think I'll re-do all of mine and see if I can get a better recording.
I will say that when it works, it's a LOT faster than the S5, but I'm not that concerned. I'd rather have a reliable scan that takes a bit longer to unlock, than a fast unlock rarely recognises my prints!!!
FYI, this was true before the APD1 update and also now that I'm on that version.
After updating to APD1 I had problems with finger reader. Factory reset seems to solve my problem. Now its working much better with just one finger added, instead of 4.
Hi everyone, has anyone discovered which is the best most reliable way to unlock the new galaxy? I've been playing around with iris unlock and face recognition (since the fingerprint scanner accuracy looks pretty ****, with the case that I got at least) but I'm not sure which is better or even if one is better than the other. Sometimes they're both insanely fast but some other times they take a while

I use the iris scanner trick is when unlocking look into the area of the red light unlocks in a heartbeat.
Facial recognition is easy to fool with a picture so iris scanner all the way. I have registered by iris and fingerprints for all scenarios.
Might want to register the same finger more than once. Maybe that will help.

Well you are 100% correct thanks a lot for this insane trick! Tbh I don't care much about protection, I was just looking for the fastest one that would offer protection from friends and stuff like that (for instance if I lay the phone on the table and it gets picked up by someone) but you seem to have that down, thanks a lot!

No worries mate it's the simple things that help.
love the phone, hate the unlock, moving from my S6 this is a total nightmare, i'm actually considering sacking it off its so bad. Fingprint is a faff so thats out of the window, its also impossible which most non samsung cases as they are too thick. IRIS, total waste of time, works about 1 in 50 for me, too dependant on lighting conditions, this was never going to work though was it, just a gimmick.
So we are left with location unlocking and face recog, face recog seems to be ok but its far from secure.
Another issues ive found is that if you are using a non samsung flip case and are using an auto screen lock app that triggers when you close your case, and then opens the screen when you open your case.... face recog and location recog no longer works, you are left with pin only which is also a pain.
I guess the only way to do this would be to shell out on a genuine samsung case, so thats another £35.
Its a very pretty phone but its left me feeling underwhelmed due to these and a few other issues I wont bore people with, my S6 is still a better phone in some respects.
Maybe I'm weird, but I actually like the fingerprint sensor. Especially when taking the S8 out of my pocket.
I've set both the iris and face unlocks to activate when the screen turns on, which makes them super quick, but I've been using the face unlock more because my eyes hurt when I use the iris scanner. But maybe this is just in my head. Anyone else experiencing this? The iris scanner is better because it is more secure and works in any lighting...but I think my retinas are burning
Yeah I got use to the fingerprint position.. I use both pin and fingerprint.

It can happen with iris scanner since it's using infra red light. Samsung warn us when we setup the iris scanner. You should stop using it
I tried all methods to see what's the best for me.
There are 2 modes for face recognition. One is faster, the other one is more secure. With the second one, your phone can't be fooled with a picture, video or a selfie of you. But I don't really like it because it doesn't always works, depending on light, of your position, posture, etc...
I'm left-handed, so the fingerprint sensor is not ideally positioned. But depending on how I grab my phone, it can be convinient to use it.
I think the iris scanner is the best unlocking choice. It's the most secure way to unlock a phone in the world, it's fast, can't be fooled, it works as well in full sun as at night (it doesn't need light to work, infra-red).
So I use the iris scanner and fingerprint scanner daily

Hmm, I missed the setting to make the face unlock more secure. I need to check on that. Thanks for the tip.
Iris scanner works pretty good. I registered as indicated, in medium light room away from windows, and it works perfectly in same conditions. But outside in powerful daylight, I had problems (or I was squinting more than usual )
Fingerprint scanner works pretty fine, as well. At the beginning, I had problems, but then I realized that I registered 2 vertical fingerprints, and were recognized only with the phone in that position. Erased them and re-registered in the normal holding position (slanted as you naturally grab the phone). Now works very fast, 9 times out of 10 trials.
Face recognition is the lowest security feature (my wife didn't manage to open it, though )

I don't think that setting is there in all variants. Someone posted a a screenshot of where that toggle is located in settings and when I looked there I didn't have it. I have an S8 on AT&T running the OTA update that pushed out yesterday. (G950USQU1AQD9)
I'm getting used to the fingerprint but the iris scanner actually works the majority of the time which I didn't expect. I'm not sure I like the idea of them introducing it for mobile payments though.

Yup. When do we get separate forums for the different variants?
Fingerprint. I just have the s8 face down so I do not have to hunt for scanner. Easy peasy.
because of androids new doze mode, it takes forever for the phone to wake from sleep now.. even if it was just put to sleep 30 seconds prior. are there any kernels that help this annoying wake delay?
Sent from my LG-US996 using Tapatalk
Try different governor and scheduler settings using a kernel editor. might get better results without having to change your kernel.
you can adjust the stock kernel?
Sent from my LG-US996 using Tapatalk
im pretty sure stock kernels contain different governors and schedulers. they wont be aftermarket ones but you can have a couple different options to try atleast.
hmm interesting. I just wish doze wasn't so stupidly aggressive. like it's so aggressive yet I see no battery savings at all compared to phones on 6. 0 and even 5.0

Doze isn't stupidly aggressive, the way LG has the firmware setup/not setup is slow. Of all the devices I have owned, the V20 seems to have the worst fingerprint unlock speed. Luckily, it should be something they can fix in firmware, should they ever decide to push out firmware updates lol. It's very much like the S7/Edge. With the stock firmware and lockscreen, it's wretched, yet you could install Good Lock, and it would be significantly faster. I am hoping the issue lies with the LG Lockscreen.
Not sure about anybody else but I just got a V20 yesterday (H910) and after doing two factory resets (because I'm odd that way) and then putting in some fingerprint images - and I removed the thin clear plastic that is/was on the fingerprint reader disc, that might help but I can't speak for anyone else on that - what I've noticed is that it's probably 1/5th of a second to go from unlocked to the Home screen on this V20 I have.
Is that fast, or is it slow, I guess I can't say but it seems awfully damned fast to me. Sometimes I'll barely graze the reader and figure it won't work and voila, it unlocks even when I'm using the very tip of an index finger (along the actual top edge) and I really don't think that should enough to unlock it but again it happens anyway.
Pure stock device, apparently it's still on the 10L build from December - I'm not an AT&T customer so it looks like I'll be stuck on that for a while as I'm still considering unlocking the bootloader/rooting and as I understand it that requires that build, haven't decided yet. Overall it's a nice phone but I'm really disappointed in the camera quality, I mean really disappointed - after owning a G4 I swear no other smartphone camera has even come close in my opinion, I really miss that device.
My fingerprint reader used to be WAY faster until I rooted. It was just as fast using the Reserection Remix ROM but I had to go back to the NotSoStock ROM too many bugs for me. I've tweaked my CPU Governor to the best middle ground I can get between performance and battery life. Still having lag with the Fingerprint reader but not as bad.

it's related to how LG uses doze. because the phone doses immediately when screen is off and it cuts power to the scanner. this can be seen by shutting screen off then immediately going to unlock with finger scanner.. it's incredibly fast. then, wait 45 seconds.. and try again. incredibly slow. it's shutting down the process into doze mode and it has to wake when it senses a finger. it's annoying
Sent from my LG-US996 using Tapatalk
I've had my v20 since October 27th. Never been reset and my fingerprint reader is lightning fast no matter how long it's been sleeping. Does it matter if you have the 2nd screen always on? Mine is. And as long as it's on the reader is instantaneous.

My Oneplus 8 Pro arrived yesterday and I am immediately having issues with the fingerprint sensor.
The FPS enrolls just fine with no issues and then immediately after the setup it works when tested, a few minutes later though it just will not work at all. I have removed and re-added 3 times now with no change, the screen looks clean and there is no factory fit screen protector on this thing
Anybody else? Unsure if this is a hardware or software issue and really would rather not have to return it.

I saw a video recently that suggested the scanner got better with time and, to some extent, learnt the more it was used. I'm not sure if it's placebo affect but I've certainly found that to be the case. It was rubbish to start with but has become more efficient.

I have also noticed that when it works it does not feel that fast either.
Strange thing is, I just had to log in using my pin and the FPS worked just fine for Lastpass but then again would not work to open the phone.
