yep more of a lighter purple tone not red.

I think it's fairly obvious that the picture in the header is that of the Oppo R17...

[Q] New S4 - Screen issue

Hi,
Just got my i9505 and noticed some banding on one third of the screen (top). Specially in low light environment and with a white/light gray backround. A pure white image shows like a gradient.
Is this normal? Should I ask for an exchange?
Edit: Uploaded photo
While I don't have that phone I would say that it's not normal. Take it in.

Are you having this issue? Purple smearing? All the S4s have this issue.

Samsung is releasing a new FW to solve the issue.

Yes I had read that issue, have it too. Didn't know about the update though.
The main problem is this kind of gradient I have in the amoled screen. It's slightly perceptible but once you see it, can't stop looking at it.

Definitely not normal. Some devices do have that gradient with gray backgrounds (including mine), but it's much less noticeable than yours.
Take it back!

Poor screen - bandings

Hey sorry but can you explain what you mean by banding issues? Thank you in advance ?
In the fist pic I can see a dim horizontal band just between the paragraphs... that?
...looks more like burn in to me. ...guess you have to be there.

Did they have a demo loop running? I work for tmobile and if they don't have one running, your going to get burn in.. Think of it like a Screensaver

The phone has been on display for less than 12 hours. I don't think it's burn in.

It's not burn-in. This is a known issue with OLED panels. LG's OLED TVs are famous for banding issues like this. It's a simple problem of not being able to supply electricity consistently across the entire panel and some rows of pixels get less electricity and so the OLEDs do not illuminate as much.

Burn-ins happen and there's nothing you can do once that happened.

What about insurance can I not take it back to shop?
You can't show burn-in by posting a screenshot
It's a problem with the screen itself and not the software.
What am I supposed to find on that screenshot?

It´s physically impossible to show burn in on a screenshot. A screenshot shows the picture the software is rendering, this is not always what is shown on your screen. You will have to take a picture of your phone with a second device.
Nevertheless, if there really is burn in on your phone, you can simply send it back to Samsung and you will get a new one.

So I heard a rumor that led notifications were also removed?

What else are they removing? Sales?

You get a bid amoled screen with AOD that works as a improved led. Something like that. Look at other phones with the same design and You Will see
Yep, AOD works for me. Have it on my Pixel...

A notification LED would be nice! I hope it has one. Never had a device with AOD but I'd prefer an LED myself.
No way aod is as bright and visible as led. I'm going to use their slogan on them and not buy this device.
"Never Settle"
Well I guess you can't expect to call batman using your screen
AFAIK there were rumors that said the LED is the bottom like on the Nexus 5 back then. I can't seem to find the proximity or ambient light sensor on the images so it could be. On the other hand I would say they have removed it in favor of the smaller notch. If I need to upgrade from my OnePlus 5T I'll probably have to choose between the OnePlus 6 and 6T. So either bigger notch with LED and headphone jack or smaller notch without them. Makes me not wanna buy a new phone...
Oneplus are making it very difficult to like this new phone.
They could make small part/dot on top of the display, use few pixels to act as a LED when screen is off. It's OLED so it shouldn't be a problem.?
So does it have led notifications?

No it doesn't.
Guys does it for sure have AOD or is it lift up display ambient display like the OnePlus 6? Anyone has a link that lists or confirms AOD? I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and no one talks about AOD which is VERY important if it doesn't have a notification LED.

I am definitely out then. One thing is the headphone jack being removed but the only other thing I liked about oneplus is led notifications.

I agree, but it seems there is no LED notification AND no AOD...

No LED, and no AOD. Stupid as hell. I've been so hype for this release, and now no headphone jack, no led, and no AOD to replace it? Wtf is that. Guess I'll never settle for a OP again, unfortunately.
There's got to be some way to have the thing make some sort of blinking notification in the absence of the LED.
I'm fairly primed to buy one of these (coming from a 3T, to be used on ATT in the USA). Lack of LED is a big hit though. I gloat to my iPhone friends how I know which email account just had a new message via the LED being a specific color (I use Light Flow).

I was SERIOUSLY considering switching from my 6 to the 6T, but no notification LED and no AOD is a no go for me! How are you supposed to tell you have a notification if your phone is sitting on a table?
Yep. I don't want to root this phone and if it doesn't at LEAST include Always On Display, then it's a no go.

Camera issue with direct lighting?

Is it only me or is there a general issue with the cameras of the OnePlus 8 Pro? I've seen articles about light reflections in the camera and the missing IR filter.
But is it only my device being unable to take a picture a lamp without huge clouding? Attached one picture with the normal camera, one with the wide angle (better but still not ideal) and a general scenery where the issue can clearly be seen.
Thank you for your hints if you're facing the same problem.
Greetings
Yes,same here.

Sigh, I was actually hoping my device is faulty but seems like that's not the case. I can even see the same red shine on your pictures.
