LG Stress Test: Beaches, Camping, and Horses!

Wanted to do a quick review of my LG G4 experience under less than friendly conditions. We recently went to Cumberland Island off the coast of Georgia for a 2 day camping trip. It's a great vacation if you have never been there. There are wild horses on the island as well as other wildlife. And the Carnegie houses are there too (they once owned the island). What follows is my experience with the G4.
Battery Life
Without easy access to electricity I was a little worried about my battery making it through our trip. We spent a solid day and night camping out on the island. The first day I started with a full charge around 8am and faced a varying set of conditions that really tested my battery.
Being that we were on the island and I was shooting pictures all day (75+ the first day) the battery performed pretty well. I got about 2.5hrs screen time and 8hrs total on time. I believe the extensive number of pictures, combined with Google Photo Sync, Spotty 3g/4g/no connection at times, combined with 100% brightness all day due to the sun, accounted for the less than average battery life. If I had it to do over again I would have turned off data for the day until I absolutely needed it and/or I would have turned google photo-sync off until I had gotten all the pictures and had found a power source to recharge.
At the 15% mark I turned on the battery saving mode and the phone was marginally useable. The screen gets dark so it's not the best usage experience on power-saving mode.
The second day was much better, I had a chance to recharge that morning and my battery was a little better for day 2 because I put the phone in airplane mode all day and took another 75+ pictures. Didn't record the screen on time but it seemed to perform much better on day 2 due to not having to sync with the photos and because it didn't have to constantly search for 3g/4g towers.
Camera
Extremely happy with the camera. Performed well in all aspects. Nothing negative to say about it.
Display
The myth/worry that I had was whether one could easily use this thing in broad daylight all day due to it's screen brightness. The answer for me is a resounding YES!! I was in bright daylight all day and had no trouble seeing the screen. Was on the beach for a period of time and I could easily see all my camera shots on the viewfinder and I could see the screen for my normal app usage (texting, internet, twitter, etc.). So for me there is no concern about using the G4 in bright daylight. It was fine for me.
Conclusion
Under the most extreme conditions I believe the G4 performed pretty well. If I had it to do over again I believe I could squeeze another hour+ out of the battery if I turn data off and/or put the phone in airplane mode. Well there you have it. Hope this helps someone! [Keep in mind Root was achieved while I was on the island. So if I would have had it rooted with greenify I believe this would have helped battery life as well]
Good to hear it lasts while you're out and about.
I find it awesome in sunlight as well. Sure the colours turn a bit funky, but it's still legible, and that's good enough for me.
nice stress test
so you had the screen on 100% the whole time? did you try auto brightness? i was just outside taking pics in the bright sun and my brightness was set on 40% and i could hardly see the screen. once i put it on auto, no issues at all, screen was nice and bright
Lux was controlling the brightness but since i was in the sun all day it stayed at 100% most of the time.

If you had your G4 since the beginning they did promo an additional battery with the unit. I haven't really had to use it yet but its nice to have as a backup.
Thanks. Got it on swappa. I have never had the need for a second batteryuntil then.

Nexus 6p android 8.

Hello guys..
Im using android 8 3 days now on my nexus 6p device.
I want to mension that works great on battery life..
With 7.1.2 i had 3.30 hours on screen with full data and now im getting 5 hours screen... Thats so nice upgrate for my phone..
The only bad thing is that i cant use my nova launcher cause for no reason nova draining my battery life.
++240fps slow motion has so much noise..
I realised also that HDR+ dont works well on android 8 specially on low light...
Does anyone observe any buggs on battery drain or on camera?
Any apk for night shots witch i can choose 30 secs shutter?
Thnk you all.)

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Samsung Galaxy S10's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I'm getting roughly 2.5% battery drain per hour during standby. Worse than the OnePlus 6t
From 100% I unplugged at night around 23.00 and in the morning 5.00am I've got 92%, it's on Wifi.. Worse battery for s10+ Exynos
As far as I remember, a few years back, my old Galaxy phone with customised rom will only lose 2% battery during the night. Now, it's about 8%-10%.
Do you have AoD enabled? And also do you have Mobile data always active enabled in developers options? (it makes your phone keep mobile data connection going even while you are on wifi and thus draining battery faster)
My S10 is draining 2,5% per hour during the night after 3 times charging and discharging (slow charging) My old S8 about 1%. I think 2,5% is to much..
Samsung needs to fix this thing. This problem used to come in old smartphone days. Its 2019. How their QA team passing it?

any idea how to reach samsung regarding this battery drain??
Twitter maybe? Or Discord?
First day back at work and between 7 am and 16:45 I lost approx 20%. In that time I used BBC news for about 10 mins and Facebook for 10 minutes. No AOD and I had medium power saving mode on. All that time on 4G with strong signal.
Based on that I am losing approx 2% an hour which isn't much better than my 2 year old S7 if I am honest!!
Very bad standby drain.. Even when S10+ full charge 100%, set to airplane mode, wifi off, data off, sync off, AOD off, and set many app to sleep, from 23.00 to 5am, battery left 92%... It's worse than any huawei
1% over 5 hours at night.
AOD on tap.
WiFi LTE Bt all off.

Indian exynos version
SM-G973F
I have around 1% per hour on S10 exynos model, which is normal.
Im on SD + and the battery life is the WORST I've had in years on any phone. Combine that with the HORRIBLE fingerprint scanner, this junk is going back. Im not a Guinea pig for Samsung. Rush to get crap out is not an effective way of doing business, with so many competitors out there.
3% over 7.5 hours last night
No deep sleep?
S10 exynos here
No battery drain on my Exynos S10. From 23:00 to 6:30, only 3%. Same as S9+
AOD, BT off
Wifi on
But on 4G it seems worse but didn't test it yet.
I left my S10 with airplane mode turned on last night, and after 6 hours it went down from 100 to 93%.
Thats not good at all as I had turned off everything.

LEMFO LEM12 terrible battery life!!

Long time no post!! I've still been using a Note 3 so haven't had the need to post since just about anything that can be done to my phone has been. Then the GF had to go a get a Samsung Gear, so I had to get something cool as well. Enter the LEMFO brand of watches that fit proportionately my 6'4" 260lb stature.
Cool watch with some cool features, but battery life is ****!!!! I fully charged it last night, played around a little this morning, installed YouTube and played like half a video to try the sound, then went about my day. By 5pm it was dead. Threw it on the charger while I'm at work, 30+ min later and it's fully charged again. It's not about 5hrs later and it's down to 34% percent. I realize these are kinda new to the marker still but I was still hoping that some advice could be thrown my way.
My ONLY reason to even buy it was because I was looking forward to having a poor mans sleep monitor to confirm my ****ty sleep, but at this rate, I'm going to have to have it fully charged before going to bed at 1am and I highly doubt it'll last through the night until I wake up around 8am. Advice for those who are more familiar with LEMFO or offbrand watched in general?
If you want to track your sleep you must buy an real tracker like Fitbit or Garmin. Almost all others brands are bad or very bad
GF's Samsung Gear seems to do a good job, heart rates read the same numbers switching between watches, so I figured it was just an app away.
I will say the battery life has gotten significantly better after the first day and it'll go a few days now without needing anything. I've made the habit of charging it while I shower now and it hasn't gotten close to dying yet. It received an update today but I don't know what it was for since I'm still on rev1.3.

I took my Pixel 5 off charge at midnight last night and when i looked at it at this 8am morning i was amazed to see the battery was still at 100% (WiFi, 4g, NFC and Bluetooth all on)

I can also confirm that the battery life/standby drain is absolutely amazing.
Just today gsmarena also posted its battery stats on pixel 5, which got Endurance rating of 93h, which according to my own experience and usage pattern means its helluvah performer battery wise! Anything over 80h is good!

I thought i would just leave it to see what would happen overnight again, so i am still on the same charge as the first screen shot but i have 3 hours SOT time now.
The stand by drain isn't quite as good as I expected. I'm losing about 1/3% per hour. When my Pixel 2 XL was brand new it also drained about 1/3% per hour on stand by and that was with a smaller battery and less power efficient processor. I'm certinaly not complaining, 1/3% per hour is great. Just a little surprised that it's a tiny bit worse than my Pixel 2 XL.
Mine definitely seems worse than my 2XL - that would maybe lose 5-10% overnight, while the 5 seems more like 20% at the moment, even after 2 weeks for it to settle down.
Just loosing 1-3% over the complete night here. Maybe have a look into your battery statistics to find out whats causing this drain on your devices?
This is mine overnight again.

From 44 to 28% in 7 hours. With AOD. It seems like AOD never sleeps. It's avout 2%/h.
Can anyone with AOD report his own "score".

Well if it ia bug i am delighted with it, i am getting all but 2 days battery life with 5 hours SOT. (FWIW it rebooted last night after installing the November patch and the standby drain overnight was just the same)

Same here. First night stayed at 100% as well, then next day synced everything and lost 2%, last night with flip to shh on I lost 1% over close to 8 hours. First Pixel where I'm not hunting for a plug out during the day. I have exercise tracking software I use pretty much daily so SOT doesn't really pertain when it's activity tracking with screen off. But still getting around 5 hours taken into account.
Just to add my battery indicator drops how i would expect it to with usage, i am not seeing this stuck bug thing people are seeing.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I haven't used AOD on my Pixel 5 but I remember testing it on my Pixel 2 XL when it was new and stand by tripled from 1/3% per hour to about 1% per hour. So yeah 2% does seem really bad.

What the hell?!?! What kind of magic is that? With just over 4 hours screen on time the best I could do is maybe 2 days. You got 6?!?! What's your secret?
Im note sure mate... I even use dual sim!

fantastic result. How is Spotify using little energy there? for me it consumes the battery a lot.
In addition, the standby time is very poor. Not using the phone at all, maybe he could handle it Three days. And so it barely lasts 2 days out of 3h SOT if I'm lucky. Of course, I can achieve 8-10h SOT in one time but the standby kills the batteries in the long run.
Hi all, just wanted to report my less than ideal standby drain.
My Pixel 2 XL used to behave better as someone previously commented - I can 100% confirm this.
My P5 would usually use around 0.8/1.1%/h with hibernation time of roughly 80/90% during screen off (AccuBattery stats).
The average values might be skewed a bit since during the day I often listen to Spotify via my TWS buds, but at night the graph doesn't lie: it's quite visible that something's going on, as per screenshots.
Unfortunately I took them after this morning's quick refill, but you can still see clearly that when I put it on my night stand it was at ~50% and I woke up in the high 30s...
The line is not even close to being flat.
Where has all the nice work around doze gone?
Also, why is it so hard for Google to let us know precisely what is using all that energy?
Any tips?
I'm not rooted, no AOD and all my sensors are on - I don't want to babysit my battery.
With this setup I was getting better standby efficiency with my 2XL, I'm sure.
I've already reported this to Google with logs, hopefully some upcoming monthly patch will include some standby optimization
