[Q] Is ir possible to Root without wiping ?

Hi,
I don't want to install any custom rom or unlock the boot loader , I just need to Root without any wipe.
Is it possible ?

This guy is wrong. Motochopper will root without unlocking the bootloader. Then use bootunlocker from the play store to unlock the bootloader without wiping your data.

Or you can simply unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery, boot in recovery, wipe cache, and then you will boo normally without any data loss.
The secret is to not boot after unlocking without clearing cache.

Just to confirm that motochopper works on stock locked 4.2.2 without wiping data.

How can I remove encryption with custom recovery installed?

Factory Resets do not remove encryption with TWRP recovery. It will reset the phone like normal, but the encryption will still remain.
I am looking to try and remove encryption entirely so I can install 4.4 and CWM Recovery. I've heard you have to flash to stock but I don't know what packages, where to get them, and which way I should flash them. Any help is appreciated.

You need to use the FORMAT DATA option, which will wipe the entire device, if you still get asked for password after that, flash factory image.

Flash the stock recovery....

I had an Encrypted HTC One that I installed TWRP Recovery. TWRP could not decrypt the phone and the phone would not factory reset. Fixed by using Fastboot to flash the stock recovery and then was able to factory reset my phone.
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Got the Sprint stock recovery image from viperboy (I'm too new to post links) the file name is: Sprint_One_stock_recovery.img
Search XDA with this file name you you will find it.
Too late for you I'm sure but maybe it will help some others.

Yes u can install twrp without losing any data.
You just have to unclock the bootloader and the flash the recovery image.

So rooted phones get no loss install

Trying to root but unsuccessfull

So I've installed TWRP properly I believe, when I try to flash supersu I get lots of errors on TWRP, what can I do? Also right now I'm in a bootloop please help
This is what I did, I did format data from TWRP so naturally I have no OS installed right now but I can't flash a ROM either since I keep getting Error 1 on TWRP. System partition will mount every now and then and then unmount

can you get screen shoot with other phone ? what is version of twrp you have now ? and phone locked or unlocked?

ok its happen to me and i fix by my self
just lock your bootloader and it make factory reset by it self
then open and flash TWRP and make wipe or format data as you need try and tell me

I think he has unlocked it after the factory reset.

I used this tool to root my device, install recovery, and backup TA.
Before unlocking the bootloader, I just want to make sure that I'm going to do the right thing.
1. Unlock bootloader using fastboot
2. Restore TA partition to get DRM keys back.
3. In TWRP wipe dalkvik, system and data
4. Install custom rom by flashing in TWRP.
5. Flash magisk zip to root device.
Is this right?

You need to backup TA partition before unlocking bootloader. If you restore your TA backup then bootloader well be locked again.

You can do it in stock rom and stock custome rom. I'm using this tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/poc-real-trim-instead-drm-fix-t3552893 it makes your device acting as locked bootloader with full drm function.

I think you don't need it in android 10

Before installing android 10 make sure you have flash 291 ftf first
1- backup TA
2- unlock bootloader
3- flash twrp for android 10 with fastboot
4- wipe system, data and cash
5- flash rom
6- flash gapps (optional)
7- flash magisk then reboot (some roms needs to reboot before install magisk)
