Screen Broke - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

My phone fell from just 2 mtrs above the ground and the screen got shattered . It is only 2 months old .I am from India .Does it come under warranty or something . I don't have the fund now to replace the screen. Anything will help. Thanks in adavance.
NB: It was protected by a screen guard(Nothing happened to it not even a scratch)

Physical damage is not covered in warranty?

Asus gives 6 months warranty for the phone...so you can repair the screen by going to the nearest Asus service centre...and i think it should be done free of cost.

Didn't go to Shriram Towers?

Warranty does not cover physical damage
My phone screen broked 15 days after I brought it (I slammed in fit of anger)
The service center took 30 days (UTTAR PRADESH)
It cost 3500 INR
But the main problem after service is that now I am facing is phone freezes after flashing any new custom rom ,
It happens nearly 4-5 times in a new rom then somehow it stops until I don't again flash any other ROM (happened on stock rom also but as I say this heavy hang/lag stops after 3-5 full discharge of battery
I even flashed new Factbook rom 247 but no luck ,so plz after screen replacement check if device is lagging ,sound distortion or any other bug then tell it to service center guys
Luckily I found myself a solution i.e, to flash Factbook rom and then sequentially upgrade firmware 247>309.............>331>334>337
BTW I am on Firmware 331
ROM CrDroid 4.7
KERNEL The Raging Beast custom clang and getting no lags ,fingerprint issues, or camera, speaker ,mic issues

It can be repaired from local shops for just max ₹ 2000.

Send it back to LG for repairs $100-160 cost
I'd look for a local cell phone place that does repairs, yes the nexus 4 has the glass that wraps the edges but you can always show them this and if they say yes they can repair it then I'd let them repair it..they should warranty their work and you won't have to be without a phone ..id do it that way pending on the price compared to sending the phone in for warranty work.

Hey what exactly was wrong with your screen. Mine works fine, but just has a cracked appearance. This means that they will only have to replace the glass aka digitizer but not the LCD underneath. There for my repair should be cheaper than most people. What did you have to get replaced? I'm curious if my repair cost would be less than yours. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me today, very minor drop, and complete crack, touch screen is unresponsive... Local LG repair centre does not have it in stock, so I am waiting for an update from him.... It is seriously terrible quality of the phone, I had dropped so many phones hundreds of times, never, nothing happened.. This is really terrible....

Buddy, you have dropped a GLASS made phone, what do you expect??? Sometimes-you drop it and it doesn`t break, next time- you drop it and it breaks!!! It`s GLASS. Probably they need to come up with a titanium edition, just for you!

Yes, you are right... Nexus 4 is the best looking smartphone I have ever come across so far... And Truth is I am never used to cases or covers for phones, and If at all I have to cover with a protection case, it is waste of the killer beauty again..That is why I await Larry's promises to be true on xPhone/Next Nexus(For Google I/O'13), as he said “In today’s multi screen world, the opportunities are endless… battery life is a huge issue… when you drop your phone it shouldn’t go splat,”... My decision was utter wrong on Nexus 4, I'm a hardcore nexus fan... After I get it fixed, I buy a cover and give to my brother....
UK Repairs service
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to say I've cracked my phone as well (woe!), less cracked-rather than smashed in multiple places. Was just minding my own business playing a bit of Ruzzle whilst pondering the questions of life on the toilet...
Anyway, called up LG support (make sure to find their cheaper phone number from saynoto0870 website); and was told they'd send me an envelope with details on the repair.
If you go on the website to schedule a repair, it'll tell you they carry out fixed price repairs at £130. This should leave the phone under warranty.
When I received the envelope, it was a letter from a company called Regenersis; who appear to be the repairs company responsible for a lot of outsourced repairs internationally. They also appear to be the source of some internet ranting due to bad customer service (seems to be a general trend with these third party repairs companies).
Anyway, sent phone off yesterday so will try to report anything back with regards to prices, results etc.
BTW this is for UK only, although I suspect LG will do something similarly for most other countries with regards to repairs.
I think they should have made the back out of flexiglass.

So just called up Regenersis on Friday morning and they gave me a quote of 122GBP for full repair, service and postage back to me. 8 pounds cheaper than the fixed price on the LG page. So paid via direct debit over the phone and have been told it should be sent off in a few days as both the phone and parts are ready to be put together. I would expect to receive it sometime mid-next week. Will post back on repair results. (If the quality is good, it would have been about the same price as buying my own screen from Ebay. It would probably take aprox. the same amount of time due to long postage times; though the main advantage being that I keep my warrantee).

Hey guys,
Final update on the phone repair situation. I received my phone this morning from Regenersis after a total time since send off of aprox. 2 weeks since registration on the LG repairs website. (What more of a present could I ask for on my Bday!).
Anyway, in summary; the repair itself after paying took only 1-2 days.
To my surprise the experience overall with these guys were reasonably pleasant despite the bad reviews on the net. Although I suspect that's the standard scenario where someone will only complain when something goes wrong.
Either way, the repair cost less than the quoted guaranteed LG repair price on their website of 130GBP.
Tips for anyone planning on sending their broken Nexus 4 to these guys:
Register through LG repairs service first. Book your slot online, then give the LG guys a call next day to confirm it's gone through so that they can get Regenersis to send through a repair letter with details.
Once the phone is sent off to Regenersis (I'd suggest Royal Mail tracked as this'll allow you to know exactly when it's arrived in Glasgow); give them a call within about 2/3 days to ask about an online quote or otherwise when it'll be examined by their engineers. (I had to wait until next before calling back to ask about the price and paying through the phone via direct debit).
After that I'd suggest giving them about 3/4 working days to repair if they have all the parts ready etc, before calling back to check on progress.
With any luck you'll get your phone back within about 2 weeks.
I've attached a picture of the repaired phone; it seems good as new and there are no scratch marks or signs that the phone has been tampered in any way. (Sorry for the bad photo!).
Edit: Had a play with the phone, a horizontal line across the upper quarter of the screen doesn't actually respond to touch; only has display. Sooo....called up LG again this morning to have them tell me they'll send me another package to send back again to Regenersis... Only one piece of advice, don't for frack's sake break your Nexus 4. Seriously!
Turns out after the repair, the phone was placed back under warrantee status allowing me to raise the issue up with Google themselves. So after a quick call to the US phone line (cheaper with the say no to 0870 redirect phone line), they agreed to send me a replacement. I received it within 3 days from the call and haven't needed to be absent of a phone for over a week if sent to repair again. Now to simply send the broken faulty phone back to google via their supplied prepaid packaging.
Happy repairs guys,
Signing out.

Newsflash! LG is not in the glass production business. They receive their Gorilla Glass from Corning, just like most of the other manufacturers out there. If the glass broke from you dropping it, it has ZERO to do with LG's build quality.

Was your phone repaired or replaced? Was the internal memory wiped?
I have a cracked unresponsive screen and will be making an insurance claim (so slightly different process). Unfortunately I hadn't enabled USB debugging so I'm struggling to get the files off the device before I send it off.
I'll be insisting on a repair rather than a replacement and I don't want my device being factory reset.

Hey Carpetboy,
Mine was simply repaired, but all my files had been backed up to dropbox and gmail so wasn't too bad. My gf had a few things fixed through insurance and they've just replaced it each time because they're not necessarily specialised to deal with repairs; especially if it's a very new phone it seems. Though if it's just a screen repair it might not be too bad.
Good luck dude! :good:

LG Repaired Cracked Screen for $153
Hello everyone,
I recently had my phone repaired by LG. They replace the screen for $153. The repair facility is located in Ft Worth Tx, and the payment center is located in Alabama. It cost me $20 to send it 2nd day air via UPS. Also, I bought another nexus 4, and now am returning it back to google less then 15% restocking fee. Basically, i rented a nexus 4 16gb for $50 over a 2 week period.
Same!

I went to my provider here in Canada as well and it was because my phone over heated and the front glass cracked and my provider told me it would cost about $250 and as I read these comments it makes me question why is it $250 in Canada but only $140-$160 in other countries? its not fair ( well in my opinion it should be the same price just in CAD ) I too need this number! it just makes no sense ! I live in AB so tax shouldnt be the problem neither.

My S4 wont turn on

My S4 fell down and the screen broke. Since then it won't turn on. Any diagnostic tools or solutions out there?
I know about shops that repair phones!
Call samsung customer services...all samsung products/phones come with a 24 mnth warranty as standard...theyll send you a postage bag to send them the phone in to them..totally free of course. Do not pay an independant repair shop who could possibly damage your handset further...rendering it out of warranty. This is your best bet if you fail to get it working yourself

A broken screen is not covered by warranty if I am not mistaken. And the fact that it died when it fell and the screen broke makes me think that the two things are related?

Nobody can help with this except Samsung.
Yes, broken screen is not covered by warranty, so you will have to pay for that and it's possible it's just that. Screen is not working so you can not see if your phone booted or now.
Go to Samsung support.
You don't have to send it to Samsung. Take/send it to any reputable repair shop. I broke mine a couple of months ago after I only had it for about 3 weeks. I called Verizon to find out if they had it in stock (I was ready to just buy a new one) and they actually told me to go on the internet and look for screen repair places because it would be cheaper than replacing the phone. I found a place in Times Square and I walked it in and 45 minutes later (and $280) I had a working phone again. Haven't had a problem with it since.

It's not a faulty device because of Sony so I don't think will be covered by warranty. It's your fault so you should ask where you bought it.

So you definitely should go via warranty to replace the glass. Sony will decide if repair or replace with the new one device. They never say what will be done.

As far as your question is concerned, i think you don't have a choice between repair or replacement. You don't get to make that call.
If sony can repair it they will do so. if they cannot only then will you get a replacement.
Way it works currrently is your phone will be couriered to sweden and back as they do not as yet service the Z line in India. i was told the turnaround time is 1 week.
Am very interested to know how well this so called ADP works. So do update us about your experience.

UPDATED - My Motherboard is DEAD!

UPDATE 1/14/2017
So after calling uncountable times from Uruguay to Google, Best Buy and Huawei. I finnaly made some progress. I call Huawei and they told me that if I was still on the warranty period they will help me with my device. So they asked me for some photos of the phone and a copy of the recipt of my purchase. After 3 days of waiting I recive a mail with a label from UPS to send my phone, I was really surprised because the payed for a shippment by plane of 130 dollars. I sent the phone and they told me that in a few days they will email me back telling me if my phone it's able for a repair or the will replace and upgrade my phone, (by adding extra memory). I'll keep up to date this post.
BTW thanks to all of you who tried to help me!
A week ago my phone just simply turn off and never boot up again. The ONLY thing that i notice its that the phone was making a electric sound near the top speaker, but the phone didn´t turn on the red light. So i take it to a third party phone repair service and they told me that the motherboard was dead and they couldn´t fix it because here (in URUGUAY) there are no parts for this phone. So im asking u what to do. Send the phone back tu USA to a repair service, buy a new motherboard and repair it by myself.
IMPORTANT: The phone has lees than a year but i buy it on a travel tu USA so the warranty here in Uruguay doesn´t do anything.
Sorry for my english!
Thank U

Work on EUR (ITA) only?
My phone just stopped functioning about a 3 months ago. It would just bootloop without access to bootloader or anything. I called Google (3times) and finally they gave me a new one. The first two wanted me to mail it to huawei for 4 weeks without a phone. The 3rd was american and shipped me one. Its probably a doable repair only that the back its a ***** to get off I think. I'd do it myself

Motherboard issue
Hey guys,
I'm from India and I got the Nexus 6P when it was launched. After I got the phone, around a month later I got the phone replaced as it had some battery problems. Now the present scenario is 4 days ago the phone was acting pretty weird. The camera app wasn't opening and it would close saying there's an error. The fingerprint sensor was very very slow. If there was an incoming call it would just vibrate and the screen would be still off. I took it to the Huawei service center and left it there. Now there are saying the motherboard is damaged and they are asking 20000 INR (approx 300 USD). Now the thing is there isn't a single scratch as I had used it in a very careful way and haven't done anything thing to it.The warranty is also expired. I literally feel scammed as paying so much for a phone and it's lifetime is just around 1 and half year. It sucks tbh. And paying so much for that motherboard is useless because even if I sell it the market price for second hand Nexus 6P is less.
Please help me out guys.
Thank you.

Having the same problem as yours bro. But they asked me 14000 INR. So I happened to give it to third party service center and they tried to solve the problem, in fact the phone booted up and now it's in bootloop and they suggested me to take it to authorized service center as they couldn't solve the bootloop issue and they say it's a software issue (they took 2200 INR). Hope it gets solved through the software. I'll update when they give an update. If this doesn't work, i'll just buy a pixel 2

Thank you.
R.V

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this thread.
Anyways, my phone lasted 1 year and 2 months, so basically the phones are clocked to fail after warranty.
I suggest you try the 4 core boot image fix if the phone is bootlooping. Have been running it for few months with this jugaad.
Nexus 6p- dead after 1 yr 9 months
Same problem has happened with me. The phone is now dead after using it for 1 year 9 months. Means 43000 for 1 year 9 months.
Please help me out as the huawei service centre is asking for 18k rs. Why i should pay for the problems that everyone is facing after i browsed the forums pages and lot of other websites.
I feel cheated after purchasing this phone. I was alot positive for nexus series. But they are waste.
Even the google support didnt gave a proper reply
Even i am facing the same issue . I also go to know from the service centre that they already had 30 such complaint. The phone was not physically damaged . This is not fare to pay 20,000 INR when we are not responsible for the issue .

Hello @kat19, the problem seems to be completely hardware and I should replace my botherboard in order for my phone to work. Since it costs too much for the replacement, I sat quiet and planning on buying a new Pixel 2 device. There is nothing I can do with the software for the device to work.

But you said that local shopkeeper fixed it and it was only left with some software issue?? That gave me hope for mine.... :/
Silver color here too
if you have a friend in the USA they can request a warranty repair for you if you can get it to them
my mom did this for a friend who also bought it during travel to USA from Peru

The device is out of warranty. It's almost 1 year and 9 months old. So I'm sure it's not under warranty. Anyways thanks for the suggestion.!

Thank for your notice sir. I only want to know what part that was broken and want try my best
Exact issue was faced by friend too.
He was using Redmi 2 (1GB)
He faced sudden heat in his pocket.
He tried to turn the light on.
But it wasn't turning on.
So he removed battery, tried with my phone's battery. But the issue wasn't fixed.
So he leaved the device for sometime.
After sometime.
There was some burning smell coming from phone.
And the place under camera was heating alot.
He went to service center. They demanded around ₹2000 saying that the device's motherboard is dead. (As the device wasn't in Warranty)
But he declined them.
After that, He got his device repaired from a shop outside.
Which costed him ₹700.
And till now, he's using his device, with No Issues.
--------------
• This issue was faced by many Redmi 2 (1GB) users.
• Earlier There were some reports also.
That in China, many users faced this issue.
So Xiaomi allowed them Free Service for their device in China.
• But in India and other Non-China places, there's no Free service. We gonna have to pay for it.
Same place where my phone got heat too.
Is your friend phone get a good motherboard? And the performance still same?
What is your friend say when he want go to outside shop? My phone is on a distributor warranty but the distributor is not good so i think i will try to repair it on outside shop but i scare it will take expensive cost

He didn't got his motherboard changed.
Only a part (called IC) was replaced.
AND yes, the performance was same.
No improvement/degradation.

Where do you live?
I guess, you live where Xiaomi don't sell it's products.. right?
As you purchased from a reseller.
I think.
Try it once at outside shop.
Ask them, the phone is not booting up.
Also, heating from back.
They will see it, and will tell you the charges and the part that will be replaced.
My friend asked the shopkeeper, that what they replaced?
The shopkeeper said, the main IC was burned up. So they have replaced it.
But bro, as you're repairing your phone from outside.
Please make sure that, the shop is trusted one.
As some of the shopkeeper in today's time, replace the original parts of our device with some old/duplicate parts.
So beware of that.
Yes you right, there is no xiaomi here i bought this from reseller, okay i will try to repair it in outside shop and tell the main ic is broken, thank u bro
