S8 battery drain 15 to 0 under less than 2 minutes. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

GUYS NEED HELP, I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE, WHEN MY S8 BATTERY HITS 15%, IT GOES 15 TO 0 IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES.
I did some searching on reddit, some say if I clean flash the original firmware via odin, it'll fix it.
Anyone had this issue, if yes please help me.
My phone's warranty is done, so if I go the service center, how much service charge should I be looking out for?

Am facing the same issue but am getting slightly better time as 5 minutes before the phone dies!
check the ss.

I dont know whats causing it but I have told many people already DO NOT LET YOUR DEVICE DIE
Look up deep discharge bug , it gets to low there is a chance it will not turn back on
Honestly with quick charge like it is I dont know how peoples devices get as low as 30% let alone 15
at the end of the day my device has 50% charge or more starting from 80%
Deep discharge is a real thing and can affect any one with samsung devices specially harder with non removable battery
---------- Post added at 12:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:39 PM ----------
as for the issue Your devices battery may be dying off and time for a replacement

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem, sudden drop of battery %
Or here just after wipe cache partition + wipe data/factory reset:
I also try to calibrate battery with USSD code *#0228#
I have the same problem with two different firmwares:
AP G950FXXU4CRI5 | CP G950FXXU4CRI1 | CSC G950FOGC4CRI1
AP G950FXXU4CRJ5 | CP G950FXXU4CRI9 | CSC G950FOGC4CRJ2
Any idea? As you can see, battery life is good but it's really annoying indeed
thanks for any help!

Well, no! As nothing worked, I've asked for a replacement with a brand new phone at my customer service.

I have exact same issue on my Note 8. Does anyone have a solution for this problem. I am facing this after Pie update since Mar'2019.

Anyone found a Solution? having a Same issue draining fast after 15% & battery health was good 100%. Just 1 year old mobile.

Anyone found a Solution?

Hi,
I do not have test the solution but, according to a post on Samsung's forum, it seems that you can solve the problem by avoiding using fast charge on your phone + disable the fast charge option on the phone settings. Maybe one of you can test this solution?

The way I see ut is that the button panel has its own backlight and is meant to turn on in complete darkness, but some evo's do it when the phone is off given enough power since the panel's software run a separate lower powered chip, but I'm no engineer. It can be fixed with a firmware update, probably.
Mine did this once. I turned it back on and killed a bunch of apps with advanced task killer, and then it quit. Think it was just a fluke because it hasn't happened since.. and that was about a week ago. If it's happening constantly even after reboots, I'd assume you have installed something that is acting retarded in the background.
actually it's not a software problem... I hard reseted and kepted the phone clean and checked at night. still LED problem being lit. I took it to a store and they are willing to replace the phone
Yes this happens to me alot and i have to remove the battery and put it back in i left the phone like that for 10 minutes and i click every button but does not come back on so have to remove the battery
My wife's has been doing that and it will not stop. Ive rebooted cleaned all apps and nothing. I'm trying to return it but am waiting for bestbuy to call me when they get more phones. Any one have a solution?

wish i had that problem. i really have no need for back lights on the menu. the bleed they cause is terrible when looking at dark movies.
on the droid, in froyo at least, the menu buttons dim when watching a movie or you can use LEDsHack to turn off the lights.
I posted this issue a couple days ago and got no replies. I have noticed this issue on my phone. Sometimes pressing volume up/down will cause the lights to come on too.
I wonder if this is the cause of poor battery life. It's almost as if the light sensor is still functioning when the phone is supposed to be sleeping.
I noticed this also on both mine and my girls 0002 models... You can see it during the day too if you cup your hands around the bottom of the screen just over the buttons and look under. Wasn't sure what that was all about. Looks like just another glitch to me.
Is this good enough reason to request exchange? Does this drain battery faster in any way?

I thought the whole time that the "glow in the dark" was a feature. Its something I certainly don't mind, as I have found it rather useful.
But since its not a feature... then... defect? Haha. Well, this EVO is going back to the store anyway.

Bricked Galaxy S3 Experience [Now its working perfectly]

My Indian Friend gave me this phone No power,
It has response on Power supply when i trigger the Power Switch button, so i thought
there is something wrong with the boot or program.
My Jtag tools (medusa, riff, ort, etc) are no use since when i search the net and read about S3 jtag, i read this thing is not
open on s3 and all my tools doesnt support this phone yet. So i decided to do the Sdcard tricks on reviving Dead phones.
I always have Failed to copy error. I read E.V.A'S contribution post related to S3. He gave me a lot of information about this phone.
After 2 days of software trouble shooting i Decided to check the phones mobo and check every part of it.
when i look in the microscope i found out that I'm not the first to repair this phone.
I decided to change the IC (the tampered one). The IC with the red mark.
But it doesnt help.

I dont know what this location jumper means
but out of curiousity I just try to remove it.
This phone has a bypass on EU location. I leave the 3 Location open.
When i inserted the battery
IT TURN ON!
hahaha
I know those location are not related with the power )
Its just happen or its my lucky day
I just want to tell a story about my experience on Bricked SIII
This is not a first time I recieved Dead S3
But most of them were not related to Software Issue so it can be easily fix.
What is the purpose of that 3 location jumper?
I did try to install different location, different language it doesnt affect the phones functionality.
I know samsung wont put it on the board without purpose but what is the purpose of that thing?

I wonder what happens if you didn't replaced the IC and you just take the jumper off? Would it still be fixed?
Anyways this is Great Find! Might be helpful to ones experiencing SDS?

[SOLVED] Slight water damage but fully functional phone, with battery problems!

SOLVED: I guess the problem was because of a faulty battery. My old battery was swelling, so I replaced it and these problems were all solved
Hi,
So recently I had an issue with my Nexus 4 turning off randomly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539546
So I decided to send my phone off to the repair service, and they said that there was some liquid damage here:

But my phone was functioning normal other than the Frustrating battery problem I had, where the device wouldn't display the battery percentage properly and just switch off randomly. So I initially thought that this was a battery problem. Could this still be a battery problem?
I'm not sure what that area of the circuit board is responsible for, but everything is fully functional with the phone apart from the battery.
Can anyone suggest solutions, if its a battery problem, would changing the battery alone(without do anything to the circuit board that has a bit of water) be okay?
Please help.

It does sound like the circuit board is the fault. Although it wouldn't hurt much to spend a few bucks on a new battery and see if that fixes the issue. If I were you in that situation I would get a new phone if money is not an issue.

Okay so they said that water was found in the motherboard. However the device is still functioning!
They said they'll post it soon, and hopefully I'll receive my phone by this week.
I might open it up and check on the battery once I receive it... I'll probably post a pic of it here, so you guys can help me in checking if its leaking/broken/etc.
Hey guys, I opened up the battery. I'm not sure of it looks abnormal or anything, but can you guys see any faults with it?
I ordered a replacement battery too.

Battery issues after changing LCD & Camera

Now, I bought the battery a few mounths back and I had no problems with it. Then, I broked my LCD & Camera so I bought replacements online.
Now, I replaced everithing, all works fine, screen is working and camera is working as well, but, now my battery gives me troubles. I start to hear noises from back of the phone where the battery is connected to the motherboard, wich is weird. The phone shuts down sometimes and the battery percentage change, always lower. Also the battery drains fast sometimes w/out having apps running in background. ("I use greenify with xposed")...the battery really drains fast and when the percentage is near 50% the the phone start to shut itself down, and if I try to boot it sometimes it does, sometimes the phone shuts itself back immediately at the lg logo. (If I go in recovery mode the phone has no problem and it doesn shut down.)
I have this problem since I changed the LCD and the camera.
PS: For 2 weeks or something I had not encountered this problem, but 2 days ago it reappeared.
Any idea?

Well i replaced my LCD and digitizer on my device lg g2 d802, now the knock on is not working, knock off works tho, tried many things which i found on this site, still doesnt work, so like original parts sometimes doesnt work well with replacement parts. Maybe cause replacement parts arent original perhaps. And for battery life, try greenify if you are rooted, if not rooted disable many bloated apps, and the google service apps which can be seen on settings disabling some really does help in SOT. (if you already know, much apologies). Cheers m8
Knok on is eazy to fix, type in the phone app "3845#*802#" then tap Settings and then update touchscreen firmware, then wait acouple of sec and it should start work...if not make sure you have enabled the feature in the settings app
Now, I already use greenify, amplify too. The real problem are the shutdowns wich are casual.
And the display is original, no doupt here
it doesnt work with that tho thats my problem. How much SOT you get while browsing and youtube? Btw have you enabled the 4k camera feature?

I'll try changing the battery, if this doesnt solve the problem I'll buy a new phone and done. ?
Had the same problems with a few LCD replacements.
The only fix I had is oem screen replacement with another G2 screen that didn't do it.
May have to try a few screens until you find one that doesn't do this to your phone.

looking at your screenshots, I would think there might be something wrong with your battery or related circuitry.
no way a normal phone would have its battery depleted that much given the percentages consumed by the shown processes.
I only received my phone 8 days ago, and initially I found my phone was unable to go into deep sleep, but I wasn't sure if it was because of some of the apps I had installed. however, it was never as bad as yours; and also after I rooted my phone and made a few tweaks, my phone would go into deep sleep just fine afterwards.
so, I suggest you contact your seller and show them your screenshots as proof.
good luck!
been sending a few mails to the seller
- i could get a 10 euro gift carf
- i could get a new battery
- i could get 60 % of my money back
phone lasts 4h if i do something
8h if i do nothing
12h if i enable the flight mode
so i did open a paypal conflict & we will see

a phone that lasts 4 hours with some activity, and 8 hours doing nothing, is NOT WORTH more than 10 euro to me -- and i am willing to pay 10 euros for it only as a paperweight.
for your information, with my rooted & tuned Zuk Z1, doing nothing (e.g. at night when I am sleeping but WiFi on all the time ready to receive Gmail, SMS, and WhatsApp) will only deplete my battery by 1% per hour.
so if i were you i would definitely ask for a replacement.
as i said, good luck to you!
[added] the figure i quoted is based on 2 SIM cards too!
