Saving the Settings.... - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

My SM-T580 keeps changing settings for time and place to which it thinks are correct. Which is especially annoying, when appointments in the calender are changes,
How can I save the settings for time and location to what I WANT THEM to be?
Thanks

Data connection starting when opening Sense?

Why is my data connection starting when I reboot my phone and sense is about to start?
Probably weather or time syncing with network.
Nice taskbar BTW... great work.
It might be weather, but even if I remove the weather tab it keeps doing it. How do I disable the time sync thing?
I think the setting resides in Clocks and Alarms I don't recall.
If not, maybe in settings tab.
Also, weather will still attempt to update even with tab removed because of home tab weather.
The time synchronization in the settings tab is disabled. Really don't know what it might be, and thanks btw, glad you liked it
EDIT: I think I found the problem, I disabled the sync for Facebook/Twitter and Youtube and now it won't autoconnect anymore.
I assume you want to prevent data from connecting, have you tried No Data or something similar?
Ah, NM. Glad you fixed it.

Deleted My Location by mistake?

Hi all i have deleted my location from the weather list by mistake and now it does not update whilst i am travelling to the different cities etc just stays with the one city/town i have selected is there any way i can readd this functionality?
Thanks
Ben
NOW SORTED I DON'T KNOW WHETHER I DID DEFINATELY DELETE MY LOCATION IN THE LIST BUT THE WEATHER IS CONTROLLED BY THE INPUTS ON THE WORLD CLOCK SO SELECTING MY LOCATION IN WORLD CLOCK BROUGHT BACK THE FUNCTIONALITY I WAS MISSING
i can't directly test this, cos i can't find any way to delete my location.
sure you didn't just turn it off?
settings menu all settings system location services
make sure its on, and then on the weather tab click menu, enable my location.
Hi yes deff deleted it all above ok except when going to weather tab menu enable my location is no longer there any more. The way i deleted it was by going to remove location in weather menu, then accidentally deleted my location when getting rid of other cities i did'nt want.
Thanks
Ben
right, how odd that i dont have that option. When i choose remove locations, it only shows the cities, (there are only two in mine), 'my location' isn't an option.
Did you go to the location service in settings.system, just to check?
yep checked those settings are turned on, i had about 6 cities preset which i deleted!

[Solved] Contacts Won't Remember Display Setting

I've learned from bouncing around that this isn't normal behavior. My Contacts will not remember it's display setting. If I choose Menu -> Contacts to Display -> Google or anything else, the minute I leave the app it defaults to "All". Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Edit: Turns out there's some sort of conflict between Go Launcher and the Contacts app. When I'm using TouchWiz, the setting sticks. The minute I switched back to Go Launcher, the setting erased and Contacts uses All. Let them know and hoping for a fix.

Google calendar settings and date reading

So I'm sure this is a known issue but every time I restart my phone the Calendar settings reset. I have the week starting on Monday but it always goes to Locale default (which is Sunday) and also adds a default reminder of 15 minutes which I don't need. Any solution to fix that? Is there a way to manually change the system Locale default calendar day? I can deal with the reminder I guess but the week day throws me off every time.
Also when I had my iPhone in the email/Gmail app whenever I got an email with a date/time it would highlight it and let me add it to the calendar. Sadly I haven't seen this option here. On mobile anyway. Any mod that could fix that? I get my schedule emailed and it's a pain to add manually cuz I sometimes mess it up :/

Screen Wake from FB Messenger

Phone screen just flickers on and off when I get FB notifications. Seems like a glitch.
When this happens, is the phone in vibration mode? Other possibility is that you may have set a screen passcode recently and in the process also enabled hide sensitive notifications and it is possible that it may be interfering for phone to wake up on certain notifications. Are the FB messages from messenger present when you do wake the screen or do they show up right after you wake up the screen? You may have changed the phone sync settings or if you have enabled power saving mode, phone may not be checking for notifications from certain apps or in intervals or both, or if you or another app have disabled facebook messenger from syncing or changed background data settings (for example datally is an app from google helps save data if you don't have unlimited plan but in the process it disables most apps from connecting to internet by default).
I would suggest go in settings, then apps, then tap on three dots on top right, enable 'show system apps', then look for any apps related to facebook, click on each one go to 'storage' then 'clear data'. Make sure you do this for all of them before you go back into FB or messenger. You will have to log in FB again and it is quite possible that this will fix the issue if settings were the cause. (Edit: Try uninstall and reinstall the app). If it doesn't work, and you have checked through all the possibilities above, you may have to do a factory reset, setup the phone again and reinstall FB and Messenger app first then install a few apps at a time to try and catch any apps that might be responsible. One last possibility that i can think of is that it is also possible a recent update to the app by FB may have caused this bug instead of you or your phone.

That's an interesting point you make, because the phone is doing just that - The phone isn't actually vibrating until I hit the screen and wake it. So they're essentially showing up right after I wake the screen. This is despite the fact that the message was sent minutes beforehand, so it would've been received by all accounts. Appreciate the help!

Very likely you have the Battery saver feature turned on. When it is on, among other things, the background activity and data of apps get restricted. I am very sure that this is the cause for the issue you are having. You can either turn off Battery saver mode or add FB Messenger to the Power saving exclusions list to get your FB push notifications back.
Appreciate all the help man!
Great thank you!
