I have a Nikon D850 that uses the Snapbridge app to collect GPS data and send it to the camera. It has actually worked quite well until recently on my unrooted S7 with factory Oreo.
But this past trip I received no location data and realized that when I take photos with the phone, the location data shows "no location" most of the time. If I reset the location on settings on the camera and then reset location mode on with the phone, I will get one or maybe two pictures on the phone that do have the location information, but then the next will go back to "no location". Really weird and inconsistent.
When I go through my picture archives, it seems that August 10th is the last time every photo has location information. Everything seems set as it should be. Also, my other rooted S7 with Android 7.1 works as it should both on the phone and with Snapbridge/D850.
Can I download just the Oreo or another camera app on my unrooted S7 that might work as it should? Any ideas or suggestions? I'm additionally frustrated because I don't see any others when I search on the web, but my wife's phone which is the same as mine has the same problem.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
On my Hero the facebook picture albums will only load over wifi and not 3g.
I've checked settings... does yours do this?
Mine works over 3G and edge. It takes a bit longer to download all the picture information like a 15-30 seconds. but part from that its all good
it's fine on mine, do you have problems with anything else on 3g?
weird, mines the other way round :-$
Yes I've also been having similar problems -- I loaded all the Facebook pics, some from 3G, some over wifi, then for some reason, completely randomly (i turned of wifi maybe?) all the ones loaded on wifi disappeared and I had to manually edit the contacts and select their picture as "Facebook picture" and I've reloaded them via wifi, for now, they've stuck... but we'll have to see if they disappear again... Either way, an annoying bug as I had to go through every contact reapplying their picture.
My wife's new hero didn't work the first day she got it for a lot of things over 3G. This was all fixed in the morning. I'm guessing it took a while for them to sort out the 3G authorisation! Mine worked perfectly straight away, but it was an upgrade, so they didn't have to provision the SIM.
I just updated to Sprint SW Ver 4.67.651.3 and now my "automatic location" is China (+8 GMT) instead of San Jose CA (-8GMT). I've tried rebooting, removing battery, etc. with no luck. Sure I can manually set a location but that blows for travelling as I'll have to manually change back and forth.
Google maps GPS shows me in the right location, it's just the network defined location (sprint) that puts me in Zhengzhou China.
Friggin annoying, anyone else with this problem?
Update - On "chat" with sprint, so far no progress but now my location is changing between Zhengzhou china and "belleville" (ontario or idaho?)... neither are right, both are at opposite ends of the globe...
Update #2 - Called 1888 tech support number and was instructed to clear cache for "HTC location" application and reboot, which did not resolve the issue. Was told the next step was to do a factory reset, however I am not in a position to do that just yet (no time to back up and reload everything...)
For now I am stuck using manual location setting or turning off wifi/network location setting and getting no weather data.
Man that just sucks, sorry to hear it. HTC is not known for the smooth bug-free OTA releases. You'd think they would test their stuff better before they release it. Shoot, most all the devs here have alpha testers before they ever offer a beta.

Anyone else having this issue? Finally thinking about updating my phone from 3.26.651.6 and this is a deal breaker.
Mine used to randomly say I was in Africa. It has not happened in several months, but it would only last for about a day and then go back to my actual location. Never found the problem, but it went away.
I have a Question. I just Purchased 2 Verizon S5's for my wife and daughter last Saturday. I check my daughters S5 last night and WiFi and Data was Running at the Same time. Checked my wife's phone this morning and it is doing the same thing. I know when it is in WiFi the 4G is shaded out. But when I look at both phones both WiFi and 4G are running at the same time. Is there a way to fix this problem. Both phones have not had any software added recently...
Thank You for Your Help!!!
Mine does same thing, was wondering this at first as well but unless it shows the Up/Down arrows under 4G I'm assuming that it's not in use.
you might also check settings > Wi-Fi > advanced > smart network switch. If your Wi-Fi is off when sleeping, then it could be when you're "waking" it's doing the switch.

Btw...I'm wondering if yours came with the 4.4.4 upgrade installed. I just installed the update last night and interestingly enough now does what you describe. As elite mentioned, it's only when the arrows are lit that you're actually using whatever network you're on.

Can you do a speedtest to see how fast? and you mentioned you're on 4.4.4, do have issue open the camera app. Many people reported it's very slow opening with the old firmware, so just wondering the new firmware fixed the issue. Thanks for checking.
It varies depending where I am in my area. Currently, I'm getting a little over 12 on LTE ( http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/960308440).
As far as the camera, I've never had issue with it. I'm stock on the update and it takes around one and a half seconds to open- not a problem for me at least.
Not to stray off topic here, but you asked...
One thing that seems to be different with the camera is with the lock screen. I use a pattern for locking and previous with the camera on the lockscreen, I had to enter the pattern before it would let me use it. Now, post-update I notice that when I have the camera on the lockscreen (still have the pattern lock set), it goes straight into the camera and lets me take pictures even with it locked. You can only view the pictures you take while it allows it from the locked point - so you cannot access the gallery unless you unlock the phone. For me at least - using a lock pattern and being able to add the camera to access that quickly without unlocking is pretty useful.
Edit: I guess it already did that for a bit already before this last update. lol.

I already add thanks + to this, but I have to post a quick thank you note since you took your time and answered my question in details. Thank you!
I found a solution to this here. Was annoying me for weeks as my battery kept draining http://getgeek.net/samsung-galaxy-s5-data-and-wifi-on-at-the-same-time/

mine shows the 4G and WiFi but the up/down arrows are under the WiFi and not under the 4G. If you turn off WiFi, you'll see the arrows under the 4G.
Hi guys,
I checked the existing topics, and most of the people complain about GPS on CM based ROMs.
However, I have stock ROM, did not root it, or done any changes to the system. I have stock KK.
When I bought the phone 3 months ago I would get GPS lock very fast. Then some month ago I started noticing that I would lose GPS signal quite often, and in the last couple of days I cannot get GPS lock at all. I remove the case, and hold it near window, and while Samsung phone gets lock in less than a minute and navigates well, LG G2 just stays on the "waiting for GPS".
Is there some app that I can use (I already have GPS satus which doesn't help), and some of the solutions offered require flashing the zip which I cannot do since I didn't root and install CWM.
Will the factory reset help, as it's the last resort I wouldn't want to use unless really no option.
Thank you for your help.
Cheers,
Its a know issue with most lg g2. You can remove the back case and do the paper trick on the GPS plugs.... Worked for me!! Just YouTube it.

I just did a format (had to backup everything from the phone as it erases the internal memory) and no help.
After booting it and installing GPS status, after 5 minutes, it doesn't catch any satellites, only shows the 0/21 and this number goes even down to 13, and every time the screen locks, the little satellite icon gets X, and then it starts searching again.
It is such a rubish if I have to do it, especially since the back cover is not removable. I'll take it to the store I bought it in, I'll see if they can do anything.

a lot of people have this issue, i'm one of them... didn't work for me to use the back cover solution
This morning I was out and it started locking on satellites, it had 4 out of 7, and then suddenly they all disappeared, and could not catch any again. This is such a piece of s*** from LG, how can they make such mistakes, so I pay 300 EUR for a phone and then have a brick which will leave me stranded in a foreign country where I don't know the roads.
I tried the pinching trick and it gets the lock quite fast when I am holding the upper right corner. But unfortunately when I let it go, the signal gets lost soon.
I just hope they will replace it in the store I bought it in, or somehow fix it. I don't want to open it myself and lose warranty.
So, I came back to Europe from Far East and my GPS works great, when I am outdoors, it gets lock in 20 seconds, but if I am indoors, even next to a huge window, it doesn't show any satellites, or after couple of minutes it shows only the Russian ones (AndroiTS GPS Test) and doesn't get lock on them.
I don't know how it'll work when I go back to Asia, but this is annoying.
I went to the store, and they told me, if it works outdoors, the service center will return it and say it works.... to bad we don't have official LG stores here to replace it more easily.

Is this a signal issue? I had MMS issues from before. I decided to do a factory data reset. Then this signal/wifi combo on the top right showed up in the photo listed on imgur. Or is this a bug? My wifi has been bad recently to add to it. No download booster or dev settings for aggressive handoff either. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
I noticed this on the first day I had my device (Wifi and LTE active at same time). Thereafter it went away. It may be that, on initial boot (or after factory reset), phone is communicating with network to send device info and status (IMEI, etc) to TMo. Once that's done, the simultaneous icons stop. Just a theory.
It comes and goes for me. I did two resets because of a phone dialer issue after using package disable pro.
you might want to chill on that PDP for now, until you get things sorted.
I've also seen the LTE icon pop-up on occasion while on WiFi. It seems to happen when the phone has been sitting awhile and I turn the screen on.
