The Battery in my mini behaves like it is worn out. That is, it drains very quickly and charges very quickly. Just to be sure that I have a working phone if something unexpected happens, when not in use the phone is on the cradle charging. I have a second battery on order and am hoping that the new battery will perform better than the first.
I have NoData installed and all access to 3G is blocked unless I start wifi or bluetooth. Otherwise there is nothing exceptional about the way I have the phone configured. I do check the weather twice a day and run the stocks option, and I do use it to listen to music with bluetooth stero head set maybe an hour a day.
I hate to think that this is all I can expect. If so, I will always have a battery freshly charged battery in the cradle and change batteries daily.
Howz everybody else doing? Are you getting the same sort of performance from the battery that I am?
i have same problem. i think it's a problem in current roms..
last week i saw a rom with this title "a new unlock rom by fixed battry life problem" but i don use that cuz i jus use original roms
My battery is good enough. One to two days of use.
I use the phone a lot for calls, mobile excel, off line information search (such as dictionary, tranlators, encyclopedia), calendar scheduling, gps navigation (thru navicomputer), and taking notes everyday. A few to moderate number of text per day. Plus occassional online social stuffs, music, photo browsing, and ebook reading. (When i lock down to some nice ebook topics, i can read for about an hour or two.)
With all these, the battery can typically last for more than a day. Although i haven't really tested if it can last a full 48 hours. Very rarely, i can run down to a dangerously low 20% or 10%. But never experienced an empty battery shut down yet.
For all this, i'd say it's good enough. Not spectacular. But not disappointing.
I'm particularly impressed with the battery performance under hours of gps use.
I don't really know if the gps or the battery is the great performer. But i'm quite satisfied with the performance in this department.
In fact, the acquiring of gps signal is so good, coupled with its great stamina, i decommissioned my dedicated gps device and removed it from the car, and then use HD mini as my primary navigation device.
4/2/2011 and i want to talk about battery life too...
I got my HTC hd mini with the latest maryone WWE rom, but
1st, never charges up to 100% but only 90%
2nd, I have no CHT installed
3rd, with some messages send and recieve, battery falls to 40% in 3-4 hours...
What the hell is happening?...
Looks like it's defective.

I'm using automatic backlight. My unit does not behave that way.
Whatever settings you have, you should be able to charge to 100%. Not being able to charge to 100% is a sure sign that there's something wrong with the battery.
I'm trying to help this guy find answers, using his description, and supplying the most probable explanation.
I see nothing wrong with that.
I don't answer "defective device" to each and every question in this forum. Try to check. I got a couple of hundred posts. I'm sure "defective device" doesn't show up in all of them. Not even half. Not even one fourth.
I try to help with opinions from my experiences.

So thank you both.
About the 90%, i think is about the ROM or the Taskbar. In previous roms i had not that problem...

Haha, indd!
So thanx for the help anywayz guys!
My post, "Looks like it's defective", is a suggestion. It looks that way. It's for the owner to verify it himself. We make suggestions of possible answers. When did i insist it is indeed defective? Or even confirm that it is?
Suggesting it could be defective can help. Some had their units check, and confirmed they're defective. Some cannot confirm. For those who do, at least they got the replacement early. It's not 100% kill rate.
In my area, from the people i know, the defective rate is more than 50%. It's a good thing HTC is quick to replace most of them without much hassle. My supposed "30" post with the word defective doesn't even come close to 50% of my posts. And i'm sure not all of them is a straight shooting down of every unit i commented on. So what's the point? Trying to humiliate fellow posters? Do you get satisfaction doing such things?
Funny can be funny. You seem to have the habit of looking for the threads i posted in and shoot down every mention of defective. And then try to defeat my comment in the most sarcastic way. You keep following me around. I'm not famous. So don't waste your time doing so. It won't make you rich.
You hit someone in the head, and then said "chill out", with a wink. Doesn't make sense. You want to provoke people. And then appear very calm and peaceful.
You wanna make jokes? Sure. I actually find the first few ones amusing. Then the more you keep on doing this, it's obviously turning out to be sarcasm.
Are you provoking me to hit back at your other comments? Well, i'm not interested.
I've picked up a few useful pieces of suggestions in this forum. That's is the reason I'm trying to contribute back to try to help others. Especially the newbies. Like how i started.
That's my only point. I'm not here to amuse you, or to satisfy your ego trip.
If i've gone too far with my effort to help, someone please tell me. So that i will stop trying to contribute.

2 words: Stop whining.
I don't understand how a custom ROM can create such a errors. If you use the packages of the stock ROM, nothing in the software changes, so normally behaviour stays the same. Have you tried running a stock ROM?

Good. Same to you. So we're quits. Don't bother me, and i won't bother you.
Let's get back to business.
What's in this ROM? Any special apps or features?
Hello,
I'm trying to use an app called Call Recorder. The app has an option to use two-way records, working only on custom kernel that supports this feature.
So I was trying to install Franco's kernel and it had the work done, but I found out it is KILLING my battery (very surprisingly actually). The stock kernel works great for me in battery and every other aspect.
My question is if there is a really close-to-stock kernel that supports two-way recording, and if there isn't I would be happy to have a piece of advice about a good kernel that isn't downgrading my battery level (or that is bad in any other aspect).
Thanks in advance.

First of I want to say that if you ever visited Franco's thread you know that he don't make kernels that drain out your battery. In fact the opposite. Have you tracked your app with 2 way recording could be the culprit of your battery drain? There isn't really any info from you on what you have enabled and disabled. Such as rogue apps that can eat up your memory, high voltages on top of your frequencies. Takers conflicting with each other. Basically anything conflicting with each other cause battery drain. Like CPU apps. What governor your using. Try adjusting your kernel to optimize battery life. Disable functions that you don't use. Get rid of any taskers. Android does a good job of managing memory on its own. Please do your research before you go blaming someone's kernel for your battery drain. FYI rogue apps have been known to cause wake locks so figure out what's causing that too if your suffering from that as well. 90% percent of the time its a user error on battery drain.
Have you tried this?

Hey.
You can assume, despite your habit, that I am not a complete retard. Of course my battery will drain if I change my usual activities and run software that drains my battery. You can assume that I didn't play hardcore games after installing the kernel and then go complain. His kernel, I don't care for the tech explanations, did cause me a battery drain and I can prove it. I didn't ask from you to argue about his kernel's quality but asked for advice about other one.
Your disrespectful comments won't help.
@mariosraptor, I'm sorry for not understanding how can unbricking tool solve my problem.

usually after flashing a new kernel, the battery for the first 2 cycles are inaccurate. the third cycle and after is usually much better.
I wasn't being disrespectful. Your the one who couldn't elaborate as to why your battery was draining so fast. If you knew what I told you then you would've tried all those things first beforecoming here to q n a and complaining about francos kernel. Where did I explain any of francos kernel features? Its very easy to know that his kernel is the best at battery life. I guarantee if you went on his thread complaining about how his kernel doesn't have your feature you would be met with laughter and a sarcastic response like "who has two thumbs and doesn't give a crap? Francisco Franco. How you doing?". Instead of taking my advice as a negative shot at your ego, maybe try them out and see if it improves. Honestly, I tried out every kernel in this forums and none of them that I know of support your "two-way recording feature". I don't even think its a kernel related issue at all. Since you love my advice so much I will give you one more piece. If your going to ask for a feature for a kernel, don't start off complaining about how this kernel or that kernel is the reason why your battery sucks at battery life. Not your own words but i figured that that's what a dev would see it as. You can take my responses any way you want it but bottom line. Your just another user not using his brain.instead of coming over here looking for someone to spoon feed you answers. Look for yourself. If you don't find what your looking for, be polite and request a feature instead of telling a dev their kernel drains your battery because I will tell you he may say something similar to my first response to your op. Have a nice day.
Edit: by the way, I looked at this call recorder app you spoke of. Now where does it say you need a custom kernel to enable two way calling feature. So this makes your argument invalid.

That's fine and thats a fair statement. But he was complaining that his kernel sucks his battery not to mention he was asking about a feature instead of looking for himself.. As a fellow user we are responsible for our own discretions and have to own up to our own mistakes. Isn't the whole point is to help yourself? Dont we have to search amd research and try everything before we go complaining to the devs about how their kernel drains their battery?I wasnt trying to be a douche. I believe he has been around long enough to know the procedures before asking for help. I have to ask, what kernel are you using thats giving you good battery life?

oh, i dont think that you were being a douche in any way. quite opposite, youre being very helpful. but for him it could have been the worst battery life(whatever the reaons are. but battery is hard to judge from the first cycle since itll change after a few). anywho, i think its obvious what kernel i use, trinity. it gives me my best battery life. not to discount franciscos kernel, because its generally a great kernel also. the problem is, if you go into any kernel thread, and ask about battery life, every user will say that the kernel that they use is the best

First of all, the kernel causes battery drain for ME and it's a fact that I could prove. Secondly, your advice is irrelevant because I probably wouldn't be complaining if I'd use things that drain my battery after installing his kernel (Doh?). Oh and the two-way recording worked on Franco's kernel if you didn't realize, and it doesn't work on stock. It is a kernel feature.
Anyways, it is not a discussion about Franco's kernel quality. if you don't believe that it causes battery drain for me it is your right, but it is not related to the thread (and I wouldn't "give a crap" about Franco's response to this, as you stated). The reasons I felt that your post was disrespectful are that you don't believe me that it causes my battery to drain and that you give me ways to save battery juice while I know how to do so, didn't ask for it and it is not relevant to my case at all.
If you're so smart and I can't be reasonable enough to know what's draining my battery, please take my piece of advice and don't waste your precious time on posting here at all.
Have a nice day.

Hello. I have had a OP5 for the past year, having bought it a few weeks after it launched. However I have never gotten "good" battery performance. I just saw the thread where people posted their SOT, 8, 9 hours...? I can barely get 4, and that's if I'm on WiFi... The phone for me barely lasts a day? With far from heavy usage. I have tried various ROM/Kernel configurations but nothing helps. Currently I am using AEX and that's what I got yesterday (see attachment). Stock OOS is similar if not worse... I am soo frustrated about this issue. Could anyone point me towards what I am doing wrong? Battery stats don't show me anything wrong, I use normal apps like Facebook, Snapchat etc and they don't drain that much battery according to the stats. What could it possibly be?
Thank you

I've just gone back to a much more routine lifestyle (summer is over) and so my phone followed suite, I don't use it so much during the day and the average drain of a whole day of small usage is 3-4% an hour which is great for me! However, whenever I start using is when things get out of hand, the usage shoots up to 20+% an hour. Very strange as it is obviously not a wakelock problem but a screen problem? Okay I don't have a 100% black substratum theme but I mean. The phone is designed to handle colours haha

Wakelocks are not dangerous in general. And Google play services are essential for majority of your communication.
Without a dump file like before its not possible to track down any issues to Google play services. And if you don't have a higher drain, it's just the observation of the wakelock.
Hello,
I am at a loss as to why my battery drains in the background so much. I'm curious as to if something needs to be done from my end to ensure it doesn't drain so much. I'm currently on Pixel Experience with its default kernel (weeb). I'm rooted with magisk, and using pixel wifi mod, as well as the gps mod provided in the list of collectibles and flashable zips in the guides section. Have attached screenshots from battery usage, as well as better battery stats. Please point me to the right thread if needed. Would love to sort this out if possible, as I'm not in a position to buy a new phone yet. Thanks in advance!
I must add that i had this kind of drain on OOS 9.0.5 as well, but at that time, I did not use wifi or gps mods.

Sure. I'm charging my phone right now. Will follow the steps in the thread provided and give you an idle dump.

Could you explain why the first one wasn't? It was in deep sleep for 6h and 3 mins. Also in that thread, the OP had mentioned to charge the phone, and drain till 95. Hence why i thought that the screen must be on for a bit. So basically the bare minimum time that you mention the screen must be on is to take the bbs dump right? I wasn't really sure after going through the thread, hence thought I'd ask once. Thanks again!
Edit- I understand by going through the original thread that we shouldn't even have more than a minute of SOT. Sorry for that! Have never taken a dump from BBS before.

Ok, there's a loot of background downloads from Facebook, Instagram and bleacherreport?
Next one is ssusb wakelock, check this out https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809&p=79121123
Also your fitbit device keeps your device awake over Bluetooth.
You received a call for some minutes and your device rings? It gives wrong results as it keeps the device awake.
You have 1%/h overall drain which is higher than expected on this device(it can be 0.4-0.7) so try to minimize the above listings.
If you have further questions please feel free to ask

I shall look into it. Thing is i used to get that average of 0.4-0.7 before. I will look into restricting Facebook and instagram more, as well as bleacher report.

Thanks. Bleacherreport is a sports news app. I use it to get football updates, read articles and see wrestling news. Some of their writers are okayish, but the best part is that they share twitter posts which are from some of the more well known sports journalists. I use it and reddit equally well.

My idle drain is still causing problems, and this is more like how it's been usually, by draining 5% per hour overnight. Could you take a look at this one please?

Ok, nothing exceptional except for this:
(com.cricbuzz.android.Cricbuzz): Sensor: BMI160 Accelerometer
That app is polling your accelerometer for several hours.
Edit: OK, you posted here too https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809&p=80246554

It's strange normally that app doesn't consume battery. I guess I'll have to go full stock. Sigh

As DB128 suggested: kernel or rom issue. Custom roms are not always the best choice, so test it

Shall do. It's weird cause i had the problem on OOS first. I shall go full stock in a couple of days. Maybe it could be that the kernels are a bit older than the current OOS versions. I have uninstalled fitbit's app and the cricbuzz app for now. I shall have to manage the phone carefully for a few months if the problem doesn't go away ? Thanks anyway!

5000mAh battery lasting only for 3 hour's. Definitely your battery damaged.
Still more information is needed for assessment.
Provide the below mentioned information
year's you been using this device ?
Do you use any kind of rogue app like facebook ?
provide a screenshot of battery usage.
Are you rooted or have knowledge of using adb ?
Thank you. Have a great time !

Unfortunately the screenshot that you shared provides no data related to app usage.
You can try few things to troubleshoot but it's time consuming. So if you're interested let me know.

Follow this post for getting idea about battery stats.
First thing is remove all other battery monitoring apps . And just use BBS ( no neee to use amplify now ). Rest follow the post.
