Hi all, hoping to get some advice in regards to a brick wall I've hit.
So background, my Galaxy S4 (i9505 running 4.2.2) has had ongoing USB recognition issues and thus I haven't been able to upgrade to a custom rom for a while. After following a couple of very detailed and useful guides on here, without success I had decided that it was likely one of two things:
A hardware problem (I have a third party charging port installed after the OEM stopped working)
Or when I was playing around with settings I derped and uninstalled the MTP application or some related core service.
So I left it for a while but today I decided to do something about it and discovered Mobile Odin (4.20), bought it and clean flashed SlimKat 4.4.4 (http%www%slimroms%net/index.php/downloads/dlsearch/viewcategory/1182-jflte). Took a while but the rom booted, really liked the look and I tried to install 3rd party apps and set up phone as usual but noticed that Google Play Store was missing. Manually installed V4.9 but it kept opening and closing so I uninstalled and the flashed the normal gapps and the AIO gapps through Mobile Odin (with and without clear cache), both processed OK but upon reboot none of apps ever installed.
So I decided to re-flash the SlimKat, I had to re download as I performed a factory restore in amongst things and had the original rom stored on internal. When I flashed inject root was checked as were all the other default options but upon reboot Mobile Odin is giving me "Could not detect device model" which after looking around basically means I lost root .
So my questions are: Without connecting via USB (because it's still not working) what are my options for flashing another rom or regaining root? Is there a way to get to stock 4.4.4 without USB?
Really appreciate any advice, currently the phone has network service and WiFi so in the mean time, without Google Play store it is just a significant inconvenience, but still operational.
Regards,
Marc

I don't know how but my root has been restored while I was playing around clearing app cache's etc. So now I have SlimKat 4.4.4 but unfortunately still no Google services/Store etc. When I manually install it, it has this issue where it automatically opens and then closes, so still working on fixing that. Again appreciate any input.
Hello, I've been flashing ROMs for a while now and I can't think of a way to regain root from within the ROM itself. How did you get root on your device in the first place to install mobile odin?
I have never used a play store application for any type of flashing, was never sure if it would be reliable or not. That being said, have you installed a custom recovery into your phone whilst you were playing around with it? If you did then you can fix this without fixing your USB connection.
However if you still have stock recovery, you probably need a USB connection to regain root. If that is the case, what have you actually tried to fix the USB problem?

Hey @lichking21st. Mobile Odin is allegedly just odin without the need for USB. I have tried to fix the USB to no avail
Actually just about to update my original post, I don't know how but my root has been restored while I was playing around clearing app cache's etc. So now I have SlimKat but unfortunately still no Google services/Store etc. When I manually install it, it has this issue where it automatically opens and then closes, so still working on fixing that. Problems solved!
Clean flashed stock rom then clean flashed back to SlimKat. Google play and root carried over.
USB still not working have to put it down to a hardware issue now. Oh well, so happy
@MOD you can close this. Thanks again for the help LichKing

Glad to see your problem is fixed, I would still advise you to get a custom recovery so you have some options if you really get stuck without root for next time. I recommend using TWRP but CWM works too.
I am facing a problem during few day's
everyday my wifi slow down whenever it wants.
after few hours it's fully ok, works fine as always.
i don't know why it's happened
when i use ShareIt Apps its not slow down
every time its works fast as always it is.
but when i use wifi for browsing or downloading something it's gives me only maximum 30kb per seconds (but where the genuine speed is 700kb per seconds)
can i fixed this issue?
when i was in stock rom this was not happened.
but now i have rooted my device & change recovery to TWRP
i had use many custom roms
i had suffer this problems all custom roms.
so every time when new custom rom comes. i flash that rom but did not found a solution of this.
Currently i am using custom rom (BatMan)
my questions are:-
1. what is the reason of this?
2. is it the fault of using root or custom recovery?
3. is it the fault of using custom roms?
4. can anyone help me on this to solve this problem?
5. can anyone tell me what was the actual reason?
Ok before i start:
I've rooted my phone
Custom rom installed (PureStock Extralite) but it wasn't working before i installed it anyway.
Wasn't working before i rooted but now i am rooted maybe there is something i can do.
Things i've tried:
wiping all sorts of caches.
Factory reset from recovery
installing custom rom
installing stock firmware
So basically whats happening is i cant turn on my bluetooth at all, from non-root and rooted. If i try from settings the slider greys but never turns on. Well im not really at my last resort but i have been ****ing around with my root and stuff so im just holding on its something about that.
i have the same problem
i've tried many ways, even delete-rebilb efs or erase nand-all from odin
i ve come to conclusion that there is hardware problem and leave it that way(i dont realy need bt)
strage thing:i really like plaiing with my phone and test many roms on it so after try to instal bobcatrom rom(https://forum.xda-developers.com/s6...-bobcatromv-1-0-lollipop-5-1-1-t3250089)after many
officials and custom and about 8 months without bt, myphone stuck becouse ive forgot to anable OEM unlock in dev.option so i instal the first nougat for s6edge+ and after the boot i realize that BLUETOOTH ITS WORKING again
i test it ,it connects and working fine for aboute 1hour.then i turn it off(becouse i dont need it)and thats it:it never turns on again...the same problem as before...

yeah. i took out my sim card and rebooted and it started working again. Put back in and it stopped. Repeated but it stayed off
So I wanted to try out Pie on my device and I already had TWRP installed. I went through the process of formatting to remove the encryption, then I flashed the ROM + Gapps I then booted in and it was working fine. I then flashed the standalone Nougat bootloader so that I could use the fingerprint. All was still working fine until I tried to charge it. It would say "Charging slowly" and it was charging very slowly, and even managed to drain faster than it could fill even when not using it. At some points I did manage to get charging rapidly but then without even moving the device it would go back to charging slowly. I have now changed to a different ROM which is Oreo and it definitely seems more consistent so far but I still do have trouble getting it to charge quickly. Before I flashed the new ROM yesterday I was not having any problems charging. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this issue and how I can resolve it?
Hey, I have a few issues after flashing the stock ROM of the Nothing phone 1. First of all, I can't wirelessly charge the phone (but reverse wireless charging works.) I know my pad is QI-Certified and does support 15 watts. I also tried it with a different one, that worked in the past. Second, I can't use the OfflineOtaUpgrade to install Nothing OS 1.5. As mentioned, I had to flash the stock firmware/ROM since the phone somehow got stuck in fastboot mode. I'm having these issues since I reinstalled it, before that everything worked fine. Would be nice if someone could help me.
