As the title suggests, I have a hard time finding working Atmos mod. It's been awhile since I'd achieved root prior to Android L, feel like a newbie with systemless root. So anyone please be kind enough pointing me towards right direction. Thanks in advance.
But why?

Asus has a built in outdoor mode. Switching it on makes your speakers a lil' louder. For me that is enough.
Well, it's probably due to hardware and audio lib conflicts as zenfone has already equipped with audio wizard. What I'd like to achieve is sound stage not the multiple channels stuff. Viper also won't work, particular issue is installing the driver. In the meantime, i use Audiofx, pushed it as system app while disabling audio wizard.

Looking at the 7.1.1 leak post, it seems that a few people have experienced this too but after both clean flashing and dirty flashing 7.1.1 over 7.0.0 I've noticed Dolby Atmos has stopped functioning correctly. I can turn it on and hear a difference but none of the in-app settings appear to work (although I can toggle them) and the equalizer doesn't move at all.
Has anyone had this problem and managed to fix it?
Kind regards
James

I had the exact same thing. I just flashed back to 6.0, mainly because of battery life which is slightly better. Atmos works again.
I also had the Wi-Fi icon in quick settings that would not turn off even though Wi-Fi was off.
A few too many weird things that indicated that 7.1.1 is not big free.
Neither is 6.0 of course. No battery stats? How did they screw that up?
And boi it's annoying. For Alarms and and Calls the system simply stops all audio.
To put the long story short; an error happens at a moment be it double disable audio or simply unable to use the driver or similar. It doesn't happen at any exact moment, it can happen at random. And it's really annoying. Like I said, music players stop working, alarms don't work (vibration does tho), you can make nor answer calls.
I honestly thought this was done via Amplify or Greenify or something, then moving to other roms, it kept happening and thus I decided to post it here. I have logcats if needed.
In my case; last few occurrences went off with a lag, trying to navigate and seemingly freezing for about 2-3 minutes and then the audio crash. sadly didnt log that one.

This won't be of much help but I haven't experienced any audio issues with any ROM yet.
Do you have any utilities such as V4A or AFX installed? Do you have a custom kernel with sound control installed? Also, if you're on Vegito audio may crash while the phone is off as Vegito will unplug all cores but one when idle.
There was a featured XDA thread about enabling high-perf mode for Qualcomm DACs too... it simply sets it to maximum power at all times to the DAC, reducing audio startup delay. Worked fine on my G4 with Magisk, but ymmv.
I do not have any mods installed. And have the ROM kenrel (In this case AOSIP)
I have some catlogs if needed @[email protected] However, mind letting me know of this featured thread? sorry for the ridiculously late reply, I thought I had replied the same day.
Here's the specs on my new HU:
Android: 6.0.1 MARSHMALLOW
Model: JY-TM123N2
Hardware: CPU: Intel SoFIA 3GR , 4 Cores, RAM: DDR3 2GB, Flash: EMMC 32GB
Got the unit, rooted, installed V4A, but it still defaults back to the terrible EQ that came equipped with this unit. It's also doing something really, really weird where it seems like it's stretching out the tempo (like you would hear in a DAW when you elongate a sample) whenever I turn on the uppermost "Power" option. I feel like they're conflicting with one another, and since the stock EQ is literally just a low/mid/high selection with a preamp, that entire thing needs to go anyways, so I was wondering if there was any feasible way to completely remove it and use Viper 4 Android instead? That way even the radio could benefit from it. Sorry if this has been asked or discussed before, I'm new to the site and still having minor difficulties navigating around

If you would have searched here in the several topics, you would have known by now that V4A is not working anymore on the Joying ROMs.
It is still working on the 25 May ROMs and older. It is minimally working on the 7 July ROM. It is not working anymore after the 07 July ROMs.
It has never been possible to completely remove the Joying EQ as multiple Joying system apps use it.

Sorry if I didn't adequately search first. I did do tons of research and learned enough to get myself rooted and such. I've just been super sick and jumped on the Joying train at the wrong time. Been spending tons of time figuring out why my BT wasn't working alongside a few other things and honestly just got frustrated
The 6.0.1 ROMs are a bit of a pain.
Upon every new release bugs are fixed and new bugs introduced, like almost totally non-functional bluetoth in the November ROM.
The V4A has been crippled due to custom build stuff in the Joying ROMs to favour their own digital amp, whether you have such a model (ending with D) or not.
The built in EQ controls are not a software EQ like Viper they control a hardware EQ which has 3 bands, if you leave them flat the chip shouldn't be doing much if anything.

Exactly what I do with built-in EQ, except instead of Viper, I use the Poweramp EQ which seems to work for me.
BTW I stayed with July release, after reading about all the issues with November build.

Yeah, I found out what was happening was the issue that everybody else was having where V4A itself was stretching out the songs without any outside influence.

Yes, it seems I did.
I suggest you to download the 2.4 release, or perhaps the 2.0.
I keep a Changelog, but not of the things I removed by accident.
When you install that one you will have 2 of my apks installed. When you open one of the apks check the version in the bottom-right. The 2.0/2.4 should install V4A correctly on 5.1
After install you can remove the 2.0/2.4

Is there any way to get Bluetooth audio to work with this app? From the settings it seems like you should be able to but I can't figure it out for the life of me. They finally fixed the BT issue in the December update but now the BT Music app won't work with any other launcher other than Joying's. I believe I'm using Car Launcher AG and need a replacement for BT, and aux preferably since the video aux player seems completely pointless to have a video feed for an aux player
I get it to install but it doesn't work. Doesn't change anything in my headphones and driver status says unsupported format, and abnormal status.
Oh I got it working!! I couldn't get one of the versions working but the Magisk module - "ViPER4Android FX for Magisk v15" from ShadySquirrel does in fact work. With the Essential Phone having USB c headphone jack I had to set "Lock Effect Mode" to USB/Dock. I also had to flash "Universal deep_buffer Remover" module to enable Youtube streams to work with these settings enabled!! Hope this helps someone. I really just needed this working to turn up the volume of the output for outputting to my car stereo, but there's so many other cool features as well.
Awesome, I'll give this a try later. Any significant battery drain to report?
Edit: just followed the same steps and can confirm that viper is processing! Way to go!

That's just Google trying to control everything. Viper 4 Android doesn't damage your device unless maybe you blast the phone's speaker on highest volume all the time

That's because some versions of Viper4Android can change SE Linux to permissive which weakens security. Google has been getting aggressive about stopping people from doing that without explicitly blocking it.

It seems to primarily happen with the materialized versions, from what I've seen. On my old Nexus 5x, that was the issue.
So, I've come across a unique situation. I've installed the V4A for Magisk V15 (the only one to even partially work for me), and the driver is refusing to work for BT audio. Works for the phone's speaker, and for wired earbuds through the dongle when I lock the mode, just not on my BT headphones or car stereo. I'm on Oreo beta 3.
Do you guys have any thoughts?

Same problem here. Not sure what the reason is...
Edit: my SE Linux is enforcing, I'm gonna set to permissive and see if anything changes.
Edit2: changing SE Linux to permissive does nothing. Not sure what the deal is, it says it's supported and ready but refuses to process...
Damn...
I was hoping someone had worked around removing deep buffering...
Deep buffering allows some wizardry to happen that makes streaming not suck battery like a teenager with a milkshake...
The drain is real with things like YouTube, Spotify, and Pandora...

I haven't really noticed a huge difference in battery draw but I haven't had the phone long before modding it. Viper is a must though with this phone's low volume output.
Hello there all hope everyone is having a great day
I am posting to see if anyone is having the same issue as me - Microphone not working on Messenger, Snapchat and only works on certain apps!! So I was reading some app developers are correctly using the right microphone and others are using the noise cancelling microphone? So installed a custom rom and it looks like it works fine. But i really want oxygen os to work with the microphone on all apps just how the custom rom works!!! Does anyone know and can confirm which oxygen os will make the microphone work properly???? I had oos beta and totally forgot about stable oxygen os and just install paranoid Android. Greatly appreciate if someone could guide me on how to use oos with the right microphone
Thanks

Yeah the system uses the noise canceling microphone to pick up the audio, but you can't do nothing about it, it's a really old OOS bug (Since the 1+3 days I think) and it even happens with the newer models, so if you really need the mic to work properly, use a custom rom.
