I recently got an Essential phone and installed the resurrection remix 8.1 rom on it. After rooting it I began to customize it to my liking, all was running extremely smooth until I needed to install Xposed.
After i installed Xposed randomly when I would try and use the fingerprint sensor it would vibrate like it worked but the screen wouldn't turn on, and also seemed to disable the lock button temporarily so I couldnt unlock the phone.
After about 20-30 seconds of messing with it I was able to get it unlocked, but was extremely annoying because I even missed a few phone calls since I couldn't unlock my phone.
I ended up uninstalling xposed and now the issue is gone, but I would like to use some modules in xposed so if anyone has any suggestions please help
If anyone runs into similar issue I resolved it by installing Xposed through magisk instead of the Xposed installer

FIXED ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY XPOSED
Please see bottom of post in red for issue and fix.
I am completely lost to what is happening / causing this.
My last steps re-traced:
Download GMail 5.0
Sent to phone
Used Titanium backup to remove old Gmail
Installed New Gmail
Rebooted Device
When it booted back up, i was present with a Newly wiped / formatted phone
All user apps - all Gapps have disappeared, Its like i have freshly installed a new ROM
Expect it still has my Accounts, Alarms and configurations to Nav Bar etc
(Running PAC Rom, but this is irrelevant as this has happened to me on 4 different roms now,
Stock, CM, AOSP)
Any idea what causes this, Just need a small push in the right direction please.
Issue was caused by Xposed, I installed a Module i have used many times before Xinstaller
It was this that broke the device.
Well not this specificity, But Xposed no longer responds, making your device boot up in a Clean State with no apps installed.
If you attempt to reinstall a App, it wont work, as the App still is installed on your device.
Disable Xposed by flashing the "xposed-disabler-recovery.zip" that is generated in the Sdcard when you first install Xposed.
If not please see here:

Hey Guys...so i seem to have this bug whenever i install the xposed framework v86 sdk23 arm 64. everything works fine with the exception of allowing me to grant apps permissions in the settings. when i try to, i get a screen overlay detected error. i dont have twilight or a file manager installed. i know for sure its caused by xposed, because i've flashed 3 times today alone and am running stock rooted/debloated. everything works fine until i flash xposed, and if i flash the uninstaller, everything goes back to running as it should. has anyone ever experienced this? thanks in advance everyone.
answer found (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...y-detected-switched-off-t3425248#post67958599). I was searching for a few days, and this was posted yesterday, so please dont yell at me guys lol
After I installed the xposed module, my phone after prolonged inactivity doesn't allow me to unlock it with finger print, but it requires me to type the pin, furthermore after inserting the pin it takes the same time of the boot to load everything. At first I thought my phone got restarted but locking in the status tab it was saying uptime more than 24 hours. I started to have this problem only after the installation of xposed and it is getting really annoying to unlock with pin and wait all that time every day. Anyone know what is the source of this problem?
For one, you didn't mention which Xposed module you installed, secondly, you might get better help in the Xposed discussion thread. Lastly, it's probably a good idea to uninstall that module for now, so your device is back to a more stable state.
Well, the xposed version I installed was the latest stable version suggested by the xposed manager, I had also tried to install the arm64 version manually, but the issue remain.
Have to correct that is the xposed framework and not a module.
Hello,
I'm experienced a weird bug - when installing an APK file the phone hangs and I need to force restart it. After restarting the phone and trying to open the app being updated - a crash occurs. The update process is seemingly corrupting the app as I need to uninstall it and install again to make it work, making the associated data gone. It is frustrating, because it happens like I'd say 50/50 of times.
Happens while installing an app manually and using root in Yalp. Play Store not tested as it is not present on the phone.
The setup is Xperia X compact running latest .118 Oreo with microg, no GAPPS, Magisk, official Xposed 90 beta3,
Xposed modules: BatteryCare+, FakeGAPPS, GravityBox, XposedGmsCoreUnifiedNlp, XPrivacyLua
It did happen on Xperia X and Xperia XZ with similar setup on Oreo. I wonder if it might be caused by Xposed bundled with Xperia Software?
Actually I'm facing similar issue. I concluded it's caused by Xposed and certain modules. In fact, it's a known issue of Xposed for Oreo. According to rovo89, existing Xposed has problem with ART in Oreo.
As a workaround, now whenever I need to install/uninstall anything, I disable Xposed in Magisk first.

Thank you @itandy for replying. Have you tried installing EdXposed instead of the regular Xposed?
Well it is basically for Pie but it is supposed to work on oreo too. Whenever I tried to install it on X compact running Oreo I got bootloop.
I have found that only some apps installation would cause a freeze and reboot. But your solution is safer of course.

Unfortunately EdXposed doesn't work last time I tried. It fails to boot at all.
So recently, I had to unroot my phone because I need snapchat working. I was using Magisk with the newest update and EdXposed. Everything was fine until I got struck by a suprise 12 hour ban, yeah no big deal, I wasn't even using root for much else but changing the boot animation at the time.
This is where it gets interesting, after multiple restarts disabling modules and then finally uninstalling Magisk, I get struck by a mesagge that the phone is corrupted and can't be trusted. I got a mini heartattack from this but after starting my phone, nothing is weird or out of place, bootloader is still unlocked and updating the phone works.
My question is, what will this affect that I haven't realised yet and is there any way to prevent that message from appearing?
I think Magisk Hide can do something. Just turn on Magisk Hide and in its section turn on Snapchat.
