950F Rom recommendations - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hey everybody,
I've just been given a S8 (sm-g950F) work phone and i'm keen to get rid the bloatware and bigsby.
Since its a work phone I don't want blow the knox efuse and I don't need root permissions but no biggie if I get them and if I can remap the bigsby button thats a bonus
I'm just after a clean bug-free, battery-issue-free rom where i'm not likely to brick it - What do you recommend?
Cheers,

How about get free from job so you can have anything you want!

[Q] some newbie questions about roms

hey there !
my cousin got a few weeks ago a smg-900v from a friend from the states (we live in Israel), and he suffers from a lot of problems with the verizon rom.
few questions :
is there any "clean" rom for this phone - without verizon apps, that I can flash with ODIN on his device ?
is there a way to get rid of all of the annoying "ROAMING" warnings / 2 clocks (roaming + "local) on lock screen ? I mean, is there a rom "clean" from any "memory" of verizon, that will let his device act like a non-branded device, at least with everything related to carrier ?
basically he's looking for a rom as close as possible to samsung rom, just without all of the problems caused from the fact the device is in origin from Verizon ...
thanks a lot in advance, really appreciate the help !
First off get root access (if you don't know what that is do a LONG search).....then get a good root browser or (I prefer) titanium back up pro. Find all the Verizon apps and delete them right quick. You can get rid of all the Verizon stuff yourself without having to find a de-bloated custom rom
Hey,
thanks for your reply. but what about getting rid of all the roaming messages / warnings ?

Need a headstart for g935fd

Hi guys , i am going to get g935fd within a week and i am really excited about it.
currently i have note 3 smn9005 snapdragon variant running custom rom (phronesis 6.0.1, i really love it but i need a upgrade because of phones physical condition), xposed and so many other custom stuff , all thanks to mighty developers and xda. I am frank that i cant live withoot root and xposed or even cant wait for a month or week to test its performance and then install twrp. so can you people help me with a jump start like twrp version i need, systemless root and xposed and stuff.
yes i used the search bar and made some research but still i will feel happy if i get answers from experienced persons.
Is there is a way to do to all stuffs without triping knox? (i don't care tripping it but still if there is a way i might try it)
and some insight on rom support for fd variant because fd is not global i guess (i always go for global but now i have no choice it not available here) and any other additional info like backing up the PIT file.
Thank you
watch out do not buy a s7 edge with isocell camera sensor because u may have pink spots in pictures, when hdr is auto/on. Iam dealing with that right now.

[Q] Root AT&T’s S5 Active SM-G870A for use in Germany?!

Hi there,
I would love to buy a S5 Active in the U.S. an use it in Germany. Since it is looked to AT&T which we don't have in Germany, I want to root it.
For the past 2 days I did some research in this forum. It turned out that it's more complicated than I thought.
My English is not that good, so before I actually buy a phone I want to make sure that I understood everything... more or less.
So, if I get my hands on a phone with 4.4. or 5.0 on it, there is no problem to root it because there is no blocked bootloader, right?
I don't know though which ROM I should use in that case? Which one runs best on the S5 Active?
If the phone is running on 5.1. there is the problem with the locked bootloader, right? In that case I use this guide?
If I get a phone that is running on 6.0 or 6.1 I need to downgrade to 5.0 or 5.1 using this guide and the just do one of the two steps above accordingly?
Does that mean it doesn't matter if the phone I buy runs on 4.4, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, or 6.1? Can I root in anyway?
Thanks heaps for your help!
Cheers Sam
you dont need to root it for international use. If its not bound to a contract with at&t anymore, then youd just need to contact at&t to have them unlock it for international use. if youre worried about the cost to call at&t, just get the textnow app, get a usa phone number and call them via the app over wifi for absolutely no cost. or, if your worried about your english being a barrier, go to idoneapps.com and they can unlock it for you for $35. I unlocked 2 G900P (sprint S5) with them.
Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
Well, I also though about just getting a unlocked one or to unlock a locked one. BUT then I have all those atnt Apps that I can't uninstall.
So I figured, the only way to get rid of them is to root the device right?
Cheers, Sam

youre correct, those specific apps do require root to remove. Then youd want something like Titanium backup to get that job done
I havent found anything so far that will show me how to root a G870A ACTIVE on 5.0 (OF3) all these links go to methods that show how to do it on a G900 (non active) if anyone can point me in a direction that would work i would much appreciate it.

i think the bootloader is still locked on that device. Not getting much love from devs either. Not sure there is a solution for this, sorry good sir
Well I received the SM-G780A today. It is not locked to AT&T anymore so I can actually use it without rooting it.
However the preloaded apps are just a pain. So I am thinking about rooting it anyway.
The Android Version is 5.0 and the Kernel Version 3.4.0-4443965. Do I understood it right that the bootloader is not locked in Androit 5.0 yet?
What's the best way to root it and is there any chance to get a rooted Android 6 running on it?
Cheers Sam

Unlocked S8 G950U1 on Sprint, can I root and install recovery/ROMs?

I have an unlocked S8 (G950U1) that I bought directly from Samsung and activated on my Sprint service in the US. There doesnt seem to be much activity in the ROMs section for Sprint so Im wondering if I am able to root and install recovery/ROMs on this device? Will it still work on the Sprint network? Its been a while since Ive messed around with rooting a phone (last time was S3/S4) and things are a lot different these days. Im not looking to do anything crazy, just be able to remove some bloat or install a ROM that has bloat removed. Im assuming Knox will get tripped with a custom recovery, so will that break security (fingerprint/face) and NFC pay apps?

There is a root method and 1 rom look in dev sections
partcyborg rom 950u:good:
Also said root method can be a little overwhelming there will be errors along the way bust most are ok and normal read the whole thread Op several times....
As we have locked bootloaders we have to use an engineering kernel which is as well bl locked and we can only charge to 80% but it is a wonderful 80% that will most agreed beat stock SOTs

Unlocked galaxy s8 sm-g950u Questions

Hi,
I have a couple questions. I'm in no way shape or form a professional or expert. So plz forgive me if I dont use the correct words or if I just flat out dont know the term but I'm also not a complete newbie I have rooted a few phones and I have repaired a few phones as well as pcs. To be honest I wouldnt even say that my knowledge is intermediate either. Sorry just wanted to give a warning. Ok now on to my questions... I own a galaxy s8 obviously why would I be posting in this fourm if I owned anything else right. Its unlocked but i bought it from cricket my model number is sm-g950u as of right now its tmobile. (Sorry if some of this stuff is unimportant just trying to give as much information as I can) not sure if anyone would need the build number or Knox version or anything if you do just ask i have np giving it this is already long and I havent even asked my questions yet... I got my s8 when it first came out and of course I wanted to root it bc theres some apps i use that needs root. I seen that with the s8 if u root it you actually lose part of the battery(like it wont charge 100% anymore) so I decided to wait and see if that could be fixed... 1st question has that been fixed? I'm not worried about warranty.. honestly this might make me sound really dumb maybe but should I be worried/careful about tripping knox or is that just for people worried about warranty? Last question I believe can someone recommend a root that I can use for my unlocked s8 thank you and again sorry it's so long
One more thing I'm not really looking to change rom or kernels or anything like that with root just wanting to have twrp (or some kinda custom backup) be able to use a keymapper, and do stupid stuff like change font and etc.

Unfortunately you cannot install any type of custom recovery on the snapdragon(US) version, there is a guide to get root using odin(Samsung firmware flasher) and some custom firmware files, I don't have the US version so the best thing to do is look at this post and have a good read:
