Hello. Looking for suggestions and thread links for the best custom kernel for the TMobile stock firmware. I had to revert back to stock because TMobile updated the signals to lower frequencies on my tower, and the Note 3 isn't capable of grabbing that signal. So I needed WiFi calling while I'm at home now and only could get that with stock firmware. Even with newest releases of Magisk root method I couldn't get the WiFi calling enabler to work on the great custom ROMs that are out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Makes more sense to ask in the Note 3 TMobile forum .
Note 3 forum is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-tmobile
I have found that a custom kernel can provide tangible benefits but it really depends on the end-user's app usage.

I advise you to try Arter97's Kernel

I have asked about issues with the other roms not working. I lost calling, texting, and could only use wifi with all roms. I also had to remove the SD card prior to the phone allowing me to activate after flashing back to "stock."
I have not found one that works. I tried Phoenix and Alliance roms at first and was tired of flashing back to stock. You CAN use xposed framework and I have used kernels like Blaze. That is about all I've been able to find. You can find dedicated US cellular forums BUT you won't find much there unless something changed in the last day or two. Nobody would answer my questions about why their roms would not work and possibly how to get them to work Sorry, this is about all you'll find. I had a few issues and my threads were also deleted
..
I have unlocked every USC phone I've ever had...there's plenty of devolopment out there for USC phones. I haven't seen anything other than custom kernels yet for G900R4 though.

There aren't a lot of USC users here so we don't know much about your system. In the past, USC has locked their bootloaders and that is the key reason that you don't see much custom ROM development.
Also, USC (along with Sprint, Verizon) still use CDMA while the rest of the world is using GSM. That basic incompatibility also deters wider development.
Have a look at the Safestrap thread in the Verizon S5 forum. Safestrap is an app for loading an emulated custom ROM + recovery and can probably be used for USC as well.

Does anyone know of a kernel that has SELinux set to permissive that will work? That's honestly the last thing I need. I wanted a bootloader unlocked phone that ran off CDMA so I can use it where I live so US Cellular seemed to be the solution.
US Cellular confirmed that the R4 has a unlocked bootloader. I am running a stock deoxed/debloated touchwiz. I am super surprised and disappointed that there hasn't been more interest and development for this phone. I am so tempted to trade it for a different.

I'm running a g900r4, (klteusc) as well. What rom are you using? I've been all over the gs5 unified and initial developments sections, and am currently using the cm11 unified while waiting for the slim rom unified. I'd gladly prefer a bloat free touch wiz though it seems the stock based roms are exclusive to g900f and the like.

You guys want this http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/forum/411-galaxy-s5-romskernelsmods/
CM11, kernel w/o SELinux Enforcing, other goodies.
Head over to teamuscellular.com/forum and you should find a few available options to try. Including stock deodexed ncf ROM(touch wiz). And other custom Roms ported to USC. Like "cm 12 lollipop alpha." Looks good but no customization. As well as all stock Odin flashable zips. Some others like alliance and beanstalk have been ported, haven't tried those though. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
Hi,
Currently I have a i337 galaxy s4 which I am using with tmobile sim card. I made it unlocked by ATT before I switched to tmobile. It has baseband UFNI1 and Android 4.4.2 installed. I managed to get it rooted using the Odin software, so I can use the tethering with the tmobile.
Now I am trying to find a way to use the Wi-Fi calling. I searched it a lot and figured out that I need a tmobile rom installed but it quickly got very confusing. It looks like what you need to do also depends on what android version you are using. For some you need safestrap, change the kernel for some you don't. For some you have Wi-Fi issues and need to change the modem etc.
So, I am trying to find the easiest and safest way that will make the Wi-Fi calling work. I don't necessarily need the very latest android version or the fancy custom roms etc,I only need something that will work without any issues. I am perfectly fine with a tmobile stock Rom if that's the most convenient way.
So,I would really appreciate if someone can help me on this. It would be great to have a set of noob friendly instructions. Thanks a lot.

Hi There,
Were you able to root your device for Wifi Calling. I followed the instructions of http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nvert-i337-to-m919-wifi-caling-t2896719/page6 and went into the same issue. After TMOBILE stock rom, the phone does not boot. I was able to install the first rom and then able to get onto the latest version and able to use phone again with AT&T latest software update (android 5.0.1). Actually, this is the version I have when I started rooting.
If you find any solution, please let me know as I am on the same boat with you on installing TMOBILE ROM using the other thread.
thanks
Ram
You cannot install a T-Mobile stock ROM to an AT&T device. Samsung has safeguards in place to prevent it. You would need to root and then install a custom ROM, which on an AT&T is difficult to do with its encrypted bootloader.
However, this is not the appropriate location to ask this. Questions related to AT&T devices belong in the AT&T S4 forums.
Hi,
I am trying to flash the Galaxy S5 Stock ROM by @jamal2367 and am having some trouble. I do a full wipe and am able to flash the ROM successfully, however my mobile network doesn't work once it's flashed. I am able to connect via Wifi and the ROM seems awesome...I'm even able to download all of my apps and sync my Google account on it. When I try to text, make calls, etc. I don't have the service to do it, though.
I am currently running the PAC-man 4.4.4 ROM. I have a Note 3 through Sprint. Model number is SM-N900P, Baseband version is N900PVPUCNC5. Do I need to do something different with any of this? My bootloader? Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Scott
You should try the S5 port on the Sprint section of the Note 3. I believe it's made by Sac?
Thank you! I know...seems obvious now but that never even crossed my mind.

Hello,
I want to install a clean (non-carrier) ROM on my girlfriend's SGS5 (SM-G900W8). This is a canadian Fido phone. The reason I want to install the clean ROM is that they removed some parts of the ROM to scam people. For example, they removed a Data Toggle from the Notification Panel. Also, I want this SGS5 to receive updates as soon as they are out, not when FIdo decides to update it.
So I searched on SamMobile and found that there are just other carriers firmwares and 2 uknowns.
So my questions are:
1. What should I do in order to get a clean SGS5 rom on SM-G900W8?
2. What are those unknowns?
3. Is the phone going to work properly on Fido if I install other / non-carrier firmware?
Sorry if these are some stupid question. I am a Nexus user and never had these issues before...
The W8 version will definitely work with any of the T-Mobile roms and most of the other roms. If you're looking for stock roms, all the canadian carrier firmwares are cross flashable, meaning you can flash the firmwares from Bell, Rogers, Telus, Wind, etc.

Thanks for a quick reply.
Would you recommend any specific firmware? Without any issues and with the least amount (or absence) of bloatware?
I recommend the pure note 5 rom available in the developement section. It's very fast, stable and awesome battery life (I get 5 hours of screen time). I suggest waiting a few days since V6.5 is coming out soon though.

Oh, I thought that It's only OK to install ROMs for SM-G900W8 only. Can you please explain what kind of ROMs I can install on her SGS5 (SM-G900W8)?
I checked the N5 Port - looks awesome. I think I will install that one.
You can install most roms that are developed for the snapdragon variant. I installed the rom on my T-mobile S5 (G900T) and it works flawlessly.
Well now since I have a custom recovery Im looking for a custom rom. Does anyone know if there is one that will work?
Sorry to post again but lets get development going on this now I know theres smart people on the interwebs Lets see some aweaome custom roms please and thank you
Agreed, I would gladly support A Dev who starts porting for US Cellular s6 edge plus!

This rom works just no data. no sim card. http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/orig-development/cyanogenmod-13-unofficial-t3384252
Not sure if it works, has anyone tried moving the two files from your stock ROM namely
i) /system/lib64/libsec-ril.so
ii)/system/lib64/libsec-ril-dsds.so (if available)
to any of custom ROM? It works for me with most of the custom ROMs here in xda. My phone is SM-G9287C which is dual sim and most of the custom ROMs here don't officially support the dual sim phone.
If sim/data signal still not appearing, get a supported kernel or write this line without the quote in your build.prop (after performing the above methods) "rild.libpath2=/system/lib64/libsec-ril-dsds.so", then restart your phone.
If you wanna try this, please do it at your own risk, I bear no responsibility for whatever to your phone.
not sure if anyone has tried any of that. I wouldnt know how to do that lol. also no kernel as far as I know for our model that will work
sorry to bump this, but Im sure more people would love to see some type of custom kernel and rom for our model phones. Anyone here able to make this happen? Also didnt find /system/lib64/libsec-ril-dsds.so but did find /system/lib64/libsec-ril.so. @fenrir_ac

My phone is dual sim G9287C. I believe that file has something to do with secondary sim feature.
