[Q] TWRP failed

I get a failure when trying to flash a new ROM. I have three different zips (ROMs) on my phone. None of them will install for some reason and I get a failed error and it puts something about an error when updating binary script? How could I fix this on my nexus 4?
If I need to update twrp could I do so without using goomanager to do this? Goomanager won't download the recovery so I have to use another method
You probably need to update to the latest TWRP version. Use the TWRP link in my signature and get the latest version in the "mako" folder.
Use fastboot to flash it, use the command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
(replacing twrp.img with actual file name)
If you don't know how to use fastboot, use the 3rd link for guide on installing custom recoveries.

had the same error and resolved it like this:
installed ROM Installer vom play store
installed cwm, and then twrp again from rom installer.. worked perfectly!
BUT WHATCH OUT! i think the error you get is called "error 9".. or something like that, it appears, when you try to install a zip, and the updater-skripts cancels the installation process, e.g., because it is not hte right zip for your phone!
so look at first, if you have the right zip downloaded

Ok so as per my understanding , you have unlocked bootloader .
You also have custom recovery twrp 2.8.7 installed . Right ?
Since you wipe system , your phone is without any os right now .
So now what you do is download any stock modified rom for your device .
Download latest twrp by xanwar . Flash the twrp zip (by xanwar)from twrp 2.8.7 (already installed ).
Voila ! Now you can flash any custom rom or stock based modified roms .
I don't know this is what you asking

2)download gecko premium rom from Android development section here on xda . Place it on SD card .
3)reboot to recovery , wipe everything except SD card . (You will lose everything from your phone .)
4)if step 3 gives error then format data not wipe .
5)repeat step 3
6)reboot to recovery now .
Flash the rom that you downaoded (gecko premium )
7)reboot system .
8) do this first then report back .

I don't understand the logic behind not enabling usb debugging !
No need for all that .
If using windows then make sure the all driver shows up when you enter into fastboot mode .
Check from control panel of your PC . If not then reinstall the drivers . It must show asus composite ...........Blah Blah blah ...Android bridge interface .(well i use Linux so dont recall properly ).
Once the desired drivers are present you are good to go ahead .And flash proper twrp .And do the rest .
Bottom line :check drivers
Flash the latest twrp (24 July build) link below
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=52033

OnePlus5 - HELP! - TWRP Recovery: Invalid Zip File Format

Hi!
I'm trying to install an update of OxygenOS. I wanted to install this with a .zip folder via my TWRP custom recovery (TWRP 3.2.3-0). However, I'm still having an issue with every ROM that I'm trying to install: "Invalid zip file format!", following by: " Error installing zip file 'OxygenOS.zip' ".
I precise that I have this issue with every .zip ROM that I'm trying to install...
I actually don't have any ROM installed on my OP5, so I can't boot right now.
I'm only fighting with my TWRP recovery and my Bootloader !
The Android version I had before that was Android 7.1.1( old boy...)
I'd be pleased if someone could help me solving this issue...
Have a nice day & Thx !

I'm now having : "Updater process ended with ERROR: 4"
I also had ERRO 7 from TWRP, but I tried everything, like changing a part of the code of one script of the ROM, but nothing is working.

How To Guide FIX OTA installation problem

hi mates,
recently when i downgraded from Nos 13 to 12 (or) from custom to stock NOS i had faced OTA installation problem
(note im bootloader and critical unlocked)
OTA update use fail , and local update also getting error.
I fixed the issue by
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash vendor_boot vendor_boot.img
fastboot reboot recovery
then select apply update -> adb side load option in recovery
adb sideload <full_Nos_rom_zip_filename> (from pc)
comeback in recovery and perform factory data reset
reboot system
note:
use payload dumper method to get boot and vendor_boot of specific version that you are using. using other version might cause brick.
use the boot and vendor images for same Nos version
1.1.3 full rom , 1.1.3 boot , 1.1.3 vendor_boot
(or)
1.1.7 full rom , 1.1.7 boot , 1.1.7 vendor_boot
when i tried to use 1.1.4 rom files i got error of previous installation failed in recovery but when i tried with 1.1.3 then succeeded. so try with 1.1.3 or 1.1.7 files.
after reboot now OTA has worked, and now im in 1.1.8
note: i had not locked bootloader and critical at any point. OTA will worked even bootloader is unlocked.

Yes, but it's not new and logical. You redo a clean installation for have a stable base like users don't have OTA issue. So there no true way to force / fix OTA install in your steps because you must (in this case) entirely factory reset.
It's important to add a thing, factory reset only from actual firmware with OTA issue don't working.
Only factory reset with the boot/vendor_boot replacement working.
I have tried this method but get an error when trying to sideload in recovery. Every method I have tried stop the ability to update via OTA or through recovery.
