I have a G950U that I don’t believe was ever rooted or even attempted to have a custom ROM installed that will only boot to an error screen that says I need to use Smart Switch to perform an emergency recovery. Smart Switch says the device isn’t compatible. I can’t get into recovery mode. Holding power, bixby, and vol up while he phone is off doesn’t do anything. Power, bixby, and vol down gets me to a place where I can choose download mode, but when I select it I get back to same screen stating I need to connect to Smart Switch. Is there anything I can do to get the device working again?

Alright guys, back in Feb I soft bricked my note 4 and resolved the issue (link)
Now I'm wanting to sell my phone as I've upgraded by putting the stock firmware on it. When I try and put the stock firmware on with Odin it always fails and then won't boot into the OS, I can then use all samsung recovery to get it to boot back up into the OS but it's as if nothing has changed.
I cannot access recovery mode by holding vol up, home and power, it quickly has some writing at the top and then goes straight into download mode without asking for the up vol to confirm, and has this text at the top:
Could not do normal boot.
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
I can access download mode normally with vol down, home and power and doesn't say the "Could not do normal boot", and if I just turn it on like normal it will boot into the OS that is NOT root.
Any help on how to get the recovery mode back? Or how to get the phone back to completely stock.
Many thanks!
Hi guys,
I can not turn on my huawei y625-u21. When i am trying to switch it on, phone freezes on huawei logo (first screen which is shown on start - probably called boot screen). I am not able run also recovery mode (vol+) or update mode (vol+ and vol-), so i am not able to perform update of firmware from sd card. Is there any other way to to perform update (flash) of firmware on device, which is not turned on? I have read something about twrp flash, but if i am not wrong, device should be switched on before this process. I would like to install new firmwere, to check, if phone has hardware or software defect.
to put it into recovery mode, you need to hold volume up button and power button, once the huawei logo appears, release power button but keep holding volume up, after about 30 - 45 seconds, it will boot into recovery mode. i have had this issue over and over and i've had to discover this method myself after trying all methods i found, you can reach me on [email protected] in case you need anything else. if it fails to boot into recovery, just remove the battery for a few seconds and insert then try again. i have this very model of phone too.
So I'm playing around with a Samsung S8 and I'm trying to enter the recovery mode/download mode screen, I'm considering rooting or testing different ROMs I'm fairly new to that and want to try it out.
Anyways log story short.
I turn off the phone, hit the Vol up + bixby + power I hold it till the Samsung logo comes up (even tried holding through the logo as well) and the phone just goes right into android like usual.
The buttons all work I've tested them individually but for whatever reason I cannot get into recovery mode.
Is there something I'm missing?
I've downloaded Odin as another thing I want to fool around with, is there a way for me to use that to enter recovery mode?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Odin will not get you into recovery/download mode
Getting into these modes is a matter of timing and as with everything takes practice
What I normally do is :
If the phone is powered off
Press power button until phone vibrates then immediately release power button then striaght away before s8 powered by android logo press and hold together at the same time vol up ( or down ) + bixby + power buttons together until in desired mode.
Same goes if rebooting from system
Press power button to bring up power menu hit restart when screen goes blank press and hold button configuration until in desired mode
It's all a matter of getting the timing right
After flashing my modified version of the up_param.bin to remove the unlocked bootloader message, my S10+ doesnt work.
I cant enter recovery mode or download mode and phone doesn't boot.
However, pressing Bixby + Power makes the phone restart (i think) and it vibrates, but still doesnt boot.
What should I do guys?
Hello, as I know, up_param is always provided with the .tar extension.
I will advise you to connect the phone to the computer with your USB data cable.
Then you will need to wait until the phone vibrates, afterwards you will forcibly reboot it (volume down (-) + power buttons) and then by pressing both volume buttons try to enter the downloading mode.
If it worked, flash the custom ROM
Hello,
I bricked my A3 2016 a3exelte while updating TWRP to 3.7.0_9-0.
The phone boots but gets stuck on the very first screen (the one with "Samsung Galaxy A36 powered by android").
I can boot into Download mode but the volume up and down keys don't respond (it's been like that for a while, even before the phone was bricked), so I can't get into Download mode.
Any suggestions to get it back to life?
Hi, not sure i understand, you can boot into download mode, but you cant use up and down keys?
To get into download mode you have to use the down key atleast?
Because i had the exact same problem as you, twrp 3.7.0_9-0 also bricked my phone.
but i used XDA version of odin and another TWRP version to get into twrp to start over.

That's exactly what's happening. Is there a combination of keys that could "unlock" the up and down keys? Or something else?
But if you are in download mode, cant you use odin to flash twrp 3.6 ?
Also if its because it ask you to press up to enter download mode, just press button below screen to get into download mode
Below is the screen where I'm stuck. Up, down, home keys are ineffective.
I'm note really familiar with Odin, but if I connect my phone in the state below and I open Odin, nothing is shown. But I guess it's normal as I'm not really in download mode.
Well like i wrote, if you press any button other than down it will go into download mode, even power button.
