hi,
does anybody know how to completely disable the notification for emails, sms and missed calls?
to be clearer: i do not mean the notification bubbles which can be disabled through settings. i mean the notification icons which appear on the menu bar.
any ideas? thanks

Do you mean the HTC Home icons?
i think what he means is the icons that shows up on the top bar along with the start icon, beside the connectivity icon..
here's a snap of it..

Ah yes, you are right!
I think that's the system feature and cannot be disabled.
if you have a look on some today screen replacements (e.g. todaylife) they can suppress the notification icon
mmh todaylife is a net application that sits over the todayscreen, so the notification are still there.
... but they are hidden, i guess? because the author has also rewritten/reskinned the complete top bar. so i can't imagine that the author would allow that notification-icons would popup as they wish.
ya I wish there was a way to get rid of those also
I would imagine (not knowing the particulars), that you would need to hook into the notification message loop and disable from there.
this might be a workaround:
replace those notification icons with pure black icons.
i am not skilled enough to do that, as i think it is the same hazzle like you have when replacing the start-icon on the top bar...

But what about theme usage? On for example blue theme this would be a black square there
sure. that's why it is a workaround and might not be applicable to all users
but at least for black theme users like myself
theres a way....programs like photocontactpro and smsfilter have the option to stop text messages from showing up. don task me how....but they do the magic some how
try wisbar advance 3 (wa3)
I installed a ROM yesterday and now my notification bar, once it's expanded/pulled down, has a certain amount of transparency... a lot more transparent than I'd like.
Are there any simple mods I can do to change the alpha values to make it more opaque or have I just got to put up with it? Or is it possible to install a different notification (expanded) screen?
Thanks.
The notificatiin bar can be modified from theme, so you have to find a good one for your rom.

I see, so I can't just modify that current screen? I have to overwrite the whole current theme? Was kind of hoping to keep it how it is and just get the background colour to solid black of the expanded notifications bar.
Thanks anyway, was beginning to think this could be a possible scenario.

Of course you can just change the background.
Thats how a theme is done, taking all the files and modifying them.
You would have to find the files responsible for the notification bar and change them to suit your needs.
How to do that i don't know, but i'm sure the forum search and google will help you out, when you search for something like "android theme tutorial" or something like that.
In particular the wallpaper and clock widget.

This is set up just how I would like it
Cheers!
The wallpaper is attached. The clock might just be Digital Clock widget, but not 100%

Thanks for the wallpaper, been looking for it for ages.
I found it here:

you can use Google translate to see what he's using in the setups.
You could make digiclock look like that. It's free on the market.

You can get a clock like that with Minimal Text widget too.
There is definitely a MT-widget, at least in the down part of that home screen, so it is highly possible that the clock is made with that too.
Other widget that looks exactly like that is called Digital Clock Widget. Search it on market!
I'd post a link to my current setup that looks exactly like that, but as a new user I can't do anything.
EDIT: Here's a text link: i.imgur.com/A86Jg.png
I have some text bolding there, but everything can be changed with Minimal Text widget.
After updated to 5.0, the status bar in some apps become fully transparent. ?
It is so inconvenience, for example, in Google Photos, I can't see the status bar icons. (See the attached picture below)?
Anyone also having this problem??
How to fix it??
Thank you. ?
It is expected to look like this. ?
try to download this app - "Process Manager for Lollipop - Android 5.0"
be serious! finger drag down the status bar while the gallery is open.

How can I change the background color…? My device haven't been rooted.
Just got the S7 edge yesterday, everything is going fine except one thing.
I set a black wallpaper to take advantage of this beautiful AMOLED screen.
But when I set it, I get very faint white horizontal bars on top of the screen. It's not that my screen is broken, it's completely black when I see that image in the gallery, but when I set it as a wallpaper, I get the faint white bars. I tried it on the stock launcher as well as Nova & Apex. It's persistent in all the launchers.
I thought it might be because of the "shadow effect" many browsers have, but I turned the shadow off & yet it was there.
Anyone else have this issue? How do I fix it?
Thank you.
Edit:
I'm including 2 screenshots of the home screen. One of them is edited to make the bars more prominent.

It's normal and part of the stock framework and would need editing to remove. Doesn't bother me.
You could use a launcher like Nova and work on the transparency of the notification bar, or use a gesture to hide it entirely. I believe it's done so that you can see the notification bar in a black on black situation.

Won't make a difference, it's not part of the status bar.
I had same issue I tried the material black theme and gone now. Nice theme too

Huh... Weird. That's a bummer. Anyway, hopefully I'll get used to it & not notice it as much.
Thanks.

I downloaded the trial for that theme. Agreed it's a beautiful theme, but it doesn't solve the problem for me.
Yeah, I noticed that too as I actually have the same exact wallpaper haha.

Found a temporary fix.
Setting the wallpaper using KLWP.
It falls under the "live wallpapers", even if you just set a static wallpaper & the white bars don't show up on a live wallpaper.
