Anyone else having 50% + of Ram being used on startup, even though the phone is very aggressive on memory management (which is also annoying)?
More ram more ram usage...that's normal otherwise why you have to have it!!!

Why would the system need a 3gb of ram? I know 6gb is great and I'm never short on ram (never passed 4gb usage)
Hello, I had an Xperia Z2 and I'm quite happy with it.
The only problem is that I prefer smaller phones for easier usages, and I got Nothing to do with big screens as I already have a tablet.
I was thinking of switching it to Z5 compact, but I'm afraid that the 2GB ram of Z5c will be obsolete over a year or so compared to 3GB of ram in Z2.
Is 2GB of ram with SD810 good enough for the next three years? Or are the demands of ram getting bigger and bigger that 2GB would be no use over couple of months/a year?
Depends on your usage actually. I would recommend 3 GB ram as less ram slows your phone when many applications are open.Specially Facebook it takes 400-450 mb ram on my Z2. On 2 GB you would barely get 1.2 gb free i think or even less
Hello! I am thinking about changing my poor old Oneplus One for this beast. But I am worried about the RAM quantity. At this moment I have 3GB RAM and I don't know if 4 will be enough.
Isn't TouchWiz 4GB = 3GB AOSP debloated?

Of course it is enough + you won't keep your phone for more than 2-3 years. TouchWiz got better, but not perfect. My phone still has ~1.5 GB of Ram left. My notebook has 4 GB Ram with fast SSD, don't see any slowdowns on Win 10 Pro.
With the poor ram management 2.5 GB is enough because at no point it uses more than that on our phones. I have apps refreshing when I come back but only half of ram is being used.
in my opinion, 4gb is not enough..... For that kind of high-end phone, samsung should have put 6Go at least into it. I'm talking about ram managment which is pretty bad in android and when you take a look at speedtests (even if this is not reflecting real daily uses) you can see than phone with 6go of ram are able to keep many apps in memory way better than the s8. When you start to run heavy apps or games, the built-in memory killer kills a lots of background app and then when you need to switch back into an other recent app, the phone almost reload it :'( That's frustrating
4GB Ram is enough. More RAM means more apps running in background which means more battery consumption. So 4GB looks a good balance here atleast for S8 which has only 3000 mah battery.
i don't think so excuse me. Of course, more ram maybe means more battery consumption but i prefer that and kill apps runing in background manually to keep battery life rather than the os kills things that i still need :/
When you have 4gb then 4gb isnt enough, when you have 6gb then 6gb isn't enough... its never enough.
4GB is enough for most any smartphone. I also have a OnePlus 3 with 6GB ram and while it can keep more programs running in the background, it never totally accesses the entire 6GB ram. Read this XDA article on RAM: https://www.xda-developers.com/the-ram-conundrum-do-we-really-need-6gb-ram-on-android/
4 is enough, and please after buying it do not ask about why just a little of it is free! The ram is for holding services and apps in background so cpu should not work again to bring them up, if it's filled do not be sad, it's natural.

Why should you want to keep many apps in memory? The S8 loads them so quick anyway.
Who needs in real day use to keep in memory 5-6 games plus 6-7 apps ? That's what they are doing in speed test , but in every day use it's not need for 6-8 GB ram in this moment. In my opinion for the manufacturer it's simpler to put more ram in a phone instead a better over all optimization.
A little help, I am in doubt about the 4x and 4 pro / prime, I have some questions
1- I will notice a lot of day-to-day performance difference between a snapdragon 435 (28nm) at 1.4ghz and a 625 (14nm) at 2.0ghz
2 - being the 4x / 4 encounter with versions of 4gb ram and 64gb of storage and the 4Pro 3gb ram and 32gb, 4gb of ram would help in the performance of the 4 / 4X?
3- In 32GB versions, when starting the first time, how much storage is left in the device?
1. You won't notice performance difference in day-to-day use
2. 4GB ram won't be any deal breaker, as 4x can't handle heavy apps very well.
3. About 21GB free.
The prime Is better than X.
But they stop making them like half year ago And there will be no upgrade on A7 or A8
If you can live with bigger screen than i suggest you the redmi note 4 global (mido). Same hw as prime, 4gb ram and miui9 with a7
My take on this is go for any version with the 635, the price difference is like 20/30€ and you get 3gb instead of 2gb ram
The Note 4x has alot of ROM support like LOS oficial, and has 5'5" screen só it's wonderfull for videos
I personally like the prime best because it's 5". Where the Note versions are just a tad to big for fast 1hand daily tasks
Could it be that if they carried the Redmi 7A MIUI, it wouldn't look better on Potter?
I have the variant with 2gb ram and had several performance issues with MIUI, especially in games, I really like MIUI, but so not to use, I play a lot, I realized that always carry the MIUI devices with more ram (usually 4gb ram ...), if you had one with less ram would not be better?
The improvement would be not only in the 2gb variant, but also in the 3gb and 4gb variant.
The Redmi 7A has a Snapdragon 439 and 2gb ram
