And is it the smoothest too? What bugs does it have?
I love MIUI, but I'm disappointed with MIUI 9. No new features, but it uses more RAM. I would install an older version, but I want regular updates.
The most stable ROM that I used is the latest Xperience.
I know only one bug: VoLTE doesn't work, but as for me it isn't a big problem, because I have neither VoLTE nor LTE in my country.Users say that both Goodix FPC work good.I forgot to tell you about the biggest issue: developer said that he lives land and because of that he won't give us updates.
Also AEX ROM which I used have good stability, performance, battery drains pretty long.

I didn't know that it was fixed, sorry for my desinformation.
Just want to know specific difference between aex, rr, dnd, and xperience ROM...
Which one is better???
I used Lineage OS 14.1 and worked flawless. I back to MIUI because the Camera. No one camera work fine, and the MIUI Camera port do not have HDR (yet) and that for me its a very important featuring.
So fat daniele's los14.1 and teammex is the most stable nougat. And maybe incomin official los

Wrong info. TeamMex changed his mind and will continue development.
Nice information @william.johhn7!
I used Oreo-ROMs now for a few weeks - everyone I tested for at least three days or more. But EVERY Oreo-ROM doesn't work for me like Nougat did before. Latest Oreo-ROM I used was LOS15.1 Nightlies. Battery was ok but 2-3 less SOT then N...GPS was ok...but so many bugs everywhere. Launcher often didnt let me into menue by longpress on screen, Quickpic wasn't running well, Mixplorer didn't let me cut'n'paste from internal memory to sdcard, contacts are gone a few times, SElinux is unsafe... and so on. It feels Nougat wasn't buggy at early state as Oreo is today. So many buggy Oreo-ROMs and Nougat lives in forgotten background..why?!?
Today I'am back to latest LOS14.1 and what should I say - perfect, smooth, all apps running like they should!
when android 7 apper, android 6 is best. wait to fix
as like nogut this is gonna take a while . remember how long it took for nogut to get fp & camera fc fixed.
Probably Oreo will never be as stable as Nougat.
I'm on LokManSiu's LOS 15.1 + Agni Kernel + Magisk since 3 weeks.
I found only two bugs : bluetooth calls and SDcard with exfat are KO.
My SOT is 30min better than with Nougat. Play Store is certified and SafetyNet is OK. No FC. No problem with apps.

Several of bugs that you mentioned are los bugs. It actually frustrated me that lineage 15.1 is full of bugs and way too behind compared to others. P previews are already started and yet they are still dealing with the nonsense bugs which has already been solved in other roms.
I miss CM even more now.

Why? LOS14.1 works perfect on my Kate. Battery is very good, all sensors are working, all features are working, speed is good...no showstoppers like BT-call in Oreo at all.

Nostalgia is a weird thing my friend. CM has served us all for many years. Few years back CM was all we had to work with. Even though LOS replaced CM, it still lives in our hearts... and in many of our old devices too.

Yeah ,soon android p is going to launch and the devs will work to get a p based custom ROM
All oreo roms still use Nougat or older blobs and just overriding, so need to use a lot of shims and cause more bugs, most of bugs fixed already but still have completablity issue, so why oreo is not stable as Nougat

I've been using LokManSiu'e LOS 15.1+ his kernel + magisk since 2 months or more i guess. Bluetooth calls and random reboots sometimes are the only bug i found works perfectly other than that.
This thred is about orea or nougat bt let me highlight another point.. Stock or miui.... I've been using stock for past 1 year.. I rooted my RN3 jus a month after i got it... I ws on RR nougat earlier then NOS oreo, AOSIP and many other ones on oreo.. To be frank after all those additional features i found stock roms to lack the basic functions.. Call quality dropped.. Proximity sensor was unstable so accidentally muted calls.. Gps fix took time.. Battery drained faster..cudnt reject calls from my smart watch.. After all this i thought about trying one of the ported miui 9 roms.. Trust me im much more happier.. I need my fone to be reliable evn if its less in features.

What?
I tried to go back to MIUI (Epic on 7) and then MM Stock but I already miss too many features in Nougat, particularly PiP with vanced, then Gcam on MM, and I quite like the new pixel launcher. + split screen works well on AEX (with most apps) even if there is a huge battery loss I'd rather charge my phone more given my usage.
I'm using Oreo for months on my Kate. RR+Agni kernel, Magisk, Dolby does the job and with the right setup its rock stable, I have basically no problems at all.
LOS 15 has no official support for RM3 that's why it's so buggy. You should give others a try before judge after some weeks of using one that wasn't the best on Nougat either.
Anyway: anyone uses built in launchers of any ROM if that isn't Nova?
We are left behind with MM blobs which supported very well for N roms and thats the reason we have pretty stable N roms. IMHO official LOS 14.1 is the best custom rom till date for me(not a fan of much customization)... Battery backup is amazing with stock kernel and with magisk modules it satisfies all my needs. The only choice we have now is to wait for mi max N sources as its the only device we have a common chipset. Also xiaomi has launched 2 more devices and developers are now moving to the new devices we would expect a very less support soon for us. Stay strong brothers. If we had 625 chipset, we would have got stable awesome oreo builds by this time. Lucky rn4 nd mi A1 device users, they will surely have support till Android P...
It's good to know that someone has brought this up. Everyone is running for the latest and the greatest but forgetting the things we're leaving behind with Nougat. I've been on RR, AEX, NOS but it was all unreliable after a point. I decided to give LOS a try and there it was. Less features but good enough to keep me here. I miss ViperOS though. It was rock stable and with tons of features. The only thing I miss on LOS is Substratum support. All my themes that I bought has gone waste lol. Wish there was still support for Nougat based ROMs like LOS. Only if there was Substratum support...
Can anyone suggest me a few?
Hello, I've been sticking to stock ROM as long as possible but with the recent fall of ZTE, and the fact that stock started to feel sluggish I was looking for some ROMs I can get and I can see two big players LineageOS 15.1 and AospExtended. I like the huge amount of features in AospExtended but there seems to be some battery bug and lack of encryption and also in the changelog is states "Final Nougat release" which is kinda implying that there is not going to be any new version and I don't think that's the desired message. So my question is how much customizable is LineageOS 15.1? Which ROM do you think is better suited for long-term usage?

That changelog is very outdated. We already have oreo AospExtended with no bugs a while ago.
I'm currently running it and I love it, I really recommend you to install if you want a clean, stable and customizable system.
I don't know about LOS though, I never tried it.

I don't know what you mean by "battery bug" but LOS and AEX share the same issues since they use the same base, which is B12 Oreo Beta.
Also AEX is more responsive and has better audio than LOS. Battery life is about the same.

What do you mean "full of serious bugs" what version is stable enough to be considered daily driver?
There are some posts in the AEX thread about the battery dying at 50% or so.
Hello all. I'm only concerned about finding a stable, fast and smooth rom (without major bugs) running android 7 or above for the x722, as it is my only device. Currently using Paranoid Android (PA, my very first custom rom installation) found here https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...aranoid-android-7-3-1-x722-elite-zl0-t3706478 and it is smooth as silk but battery consumption is too high when in standby and the rom has sadly been abandoned. Therefore looking for an alternative.
I'm simply afraid (based on what i read in threads) that the newer android 8 and android 9 roms may have lag after a few weeks and that the android 7 roms may have been discontinued with pending bugs (i read threads here and on zl0 rom threads in the larger pro 3 forum, based on their last post dates and unresolved questions for fellow x722 users) so i would be really really really grateful for any information/knowledge based on your experiences. Mention your Gcam version/name if you use it please, and what phone firmware you are on (mine came with 20s).
Just to sum up: I don't mind whether it is an android 7, 8 or 9 rom, i just want it to be stable, smooth, fast and free of major/crippling bugs (stable for everyday use). I don't want an eui based rom as eui does not have the 'reply within a notification feature' and grouped notifications found in vanilla android 7+. That feature allows me to view messages from multiple senders in whatsapp without opening the app and then reply to any of them which is super convenient! Also eui roms wouldn't support any Gcam as it is Android 6 based.
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and experiences
Ps: reason i initially came looking for a custom rom was because my vendor 20s rom was awful at ram management, was ugly, lacked the wonderful notification reply features seen in Android 7 and above. And finally started lagging when typing in my keyboard app (Gboard)! PA was a revelation in how smooth & fast this phone could be
WARNING: I have a X727 zl1, not a X722 Zl0, check out if your phone version its compatible
For me, the most stable rom are Oreo's Rom.
I am using right now DotOS 2.4. non major issues.
Magisk 18.1
Dolby completely functional
Good battery
Beautiful UI
Gcam work perfectly
Lot of setting
BT/Wifi/Signal 4G-LTE work fine
Like you, I seek for battery and stability and I've had tried almost any Rom out there, Nougat, Oreo, Pie and MIUI
Nougat fault: Mic and Audio Issues and almost any Rom. Just last Omni was good but had kernel issue, Randomly shutdown few times at day.
Oreo: Very good mostly. Bootleggers its almost perfect, but had Bluetooth issue (cut sound when screen goes off)
But its very good option. Best for me, cDroid, DotOs, Bootleggers. Don't flash custom kernel on DotOS, won't boot and you must to flash Rom over.
Pie: I had a lot issue on Pie. Battery Drain mostly. Some Rom had issue to get Dolby Funtional and some Magisk Module disappeared after reboot. For example in AICP I cant get funtional Dolby and Gcam at same time. If Dolby work, Gcam get infinite focus, after reboot, Gcam work fine but Dolby disappeared... crazy stuff... Also, (I dont know if that was fixed) screen cast is no possible on Pie Roms.
MIUI: its a little messy and need some tweaks to get good working. Had warming issue and Gcam had issue to work. Also is not multilingual (I speak spanish).
Good luck...

Thank you so much for giving such a detailed response! ^_^ I'll look into compatibility with my x722 (zl0) but it is good to know the various issues on the different ROMs, and now i know which oreo ROMs to check compatibility with mine. Thank you again for sharing your experience, it'll help others on zl1 who stumble upon this thread too
It'd be nice if this became a discussion thread where people continue to share their experiences
Sharing info I found on various threads for others reference

I don't have any of those problems on latest AICP 14 build.
Dolby digital+ and some different GCam ports working without problem and battery draining is not bad really (about 6hrs. SOT with 4G and relatively light usage).
Also screen cast (Miracast) is working alright.
AICP Pie rom is the best, I'm using it for a year now.

How is your battery consumption on it? Got any performance lag an year later compared to when it was flashed?
Thanks
AOSIP Pie is the best ROM I used, very fast, I have 7/8 hours of sot without greenify or any mod for battery, fingerprint is very fast too, great performance
I know that most Lineage ROMs for the v20 treat the second screen as a notch area. But wasn't there a Lineage that did have a second screen working like the stock second screen? Was it for Nougat? Or Oreo? Does anyone have a link to it? Thanks!
Yes, there were LineageOS 15.1 and Resurrection Remix 6 builds on Oreo that had some second screen functionality, though they were never updated much. Some more links may be hiding in their respective general ROM threads, but you can start looking here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/bounty-progress-on-the-second-screen-api-for-aosp.3549121/page-43
Thanks
Seems like the links are not working when I search for the 2nd screen versions.
Anyone still have links?
The folders for both LOS 15.1 and Resurrection Remix 2nd screen builds can be found here:
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=273537
Thank you so much, I didn't find these on my initial quick search.

Never used any Lineage ROM due to being in VoLTE territory, but I imagine the differences are similar to most non-stock ROMs: Overall lighter and faster, surely better battery life, but all the LG stock functions (like full second screen functionality, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, FM radio, LG apps like stock camera, calendar, gallery, music, HD audio recorder, quickmemo, quickremote) won't work.

Since Alpha Omega is stock-based, everything works. From what I read, the LOS 15.1 second screen is much more limited than what you get on stock because no one has figured out LG's closed-source proprietary files just like all the other functions and LG apps.

Yeah, I don't expect any LG-branded apps to run outside of stock-based ROMs.
