Tofay i had the biggest amazement when i saw that Facebook app had the nerve to request supperuser access. I thought it was a virus but then i checked
I mean comm'on, facebook needs special permissions? ???

Weird, i don't have it in Magisk
Don't read FB "news". That's what triggers it. At least from what Reddit says. Which is great because I don't read any article on Facebook.

just got my confirmation from google, app inventor is up and running! i think it would be a good idea to maybe get a thread goin for everything app inventor/a help page for using it. just a thought

Wrong... but nice try.
I simply was logged into my Google account and went to the app inventor page there was a my projects link on the top. I clicked it, I was able to access app inventor. As a word of caution make sure you have the app inventor extras installed prior to trying to use the blocks, it can / will be kind of screwy if you don't.
Now we'll need a new section on XDA..

Made the tutorial hellopurr app in about 5 minutes...the install was about 4mb though
I'm able to log in with out an invite too. Cool!
I've made some little things with it.
I need it to be able to parse RSS, or at least XML, before I'm able to implement any of my actual wanted-app ideas with it, though.

I don't know, I think it does have SOME potential. Believe it or not, there are people like me out there with VERY limited java experience that have some neat app ideas. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with the inventor.
I do agree that everybody and their mother will probably be making the stupid "click the cat to hear a purr" app knockoff .
There should be a marketplace filter for app inventor apps so you know what you're signing up for haha

Got my invite as well. Give it a whirl tomorrow while I need to pass some time.
So I contacted samsung tech support for help on the FB sync which hasnt been working since I got the phone.. When I did, all the dude told me to do was remove the battery for 3 seconds, hearing such basic, useless advice made me pretty mad, so i logged off of the chat session... about 2 or 3 min later when i jumped into my contacts... it had worked. This is coming from a dude that tried literally EVERYTHING, so if you're having sync issues, this just might do the trick.

For me a little bit of a back story would help. What exactly do you mean your facebook wasn't syncing?
Using the contact list using another app?
I don't mean to be rude, but since I don't sync and I might try it, it would be helpful to know what the problem was to match the solution to.

My google accounts, twitter, work email and facebook calendar synced perfectly, even the buddies samsung widget connected with my facebook without a flaw, I just couldnt get my facebook contacts to sync. I tried doing it through the app, removing samsung mobile from my facebook account, removing the sync, and everything else that everyone on here had advised me to try, and nothing worked.
To my disbelief, a 3 second battery pull set all of my sync's up to run perfectly.

Anyway, back to the point of my post... for those who have had bad luck with their Facebook contact sync, a simple battery pull just might do the trick!

I get the facebook updates in my contacts, but my contacts photos are no longer synced through facebook (i.e. they're blank). I had chalked it up to having deleted the accounts and sync app. Idk, but it'd be nice to have the photos back.

EDIT: hrm. I was thinking I deleted feeds and updates, but that's a tw widget which explains why I haven't seen it in a while. Guess I just deleted the acct & sync odex. Anyway, my pics still aren't synced.

As long you dont download pirated apps i think you will be fine.

Here's my advice:
1. - NEVER install an app outside the Android Market unless you know exactly what the app does, and only if it comes from a legit website.
2. - Take the time to learn the Basics of Android Permissions and what they do.
3. - If you are unsure why an app needs a permission, email the dev. If the guy's legit, he will email you back or make an update in the market description.
4. - If all else fails, read the comments posted about the app. If something seems strange to you, chances are that somebody else is thinking the same thing...

you can do this with LBE Privacy Guard
Alot of the devs who make these apps are pirates themselves!! Considering they steal other peoples artwork and claim it as their own.
What I'm referring to in particular are the many different multiples of the same damn live wallpapers all put out by at least 5 or 6 different devs!! Yeah I'm sure they all own the rights to those images! Sure! I don't even think these people properly thank the original artist let alone give them a cut!!
Also how about all these damn apps that install different boot animations on your phone. Do you really think they ask the creators if its ok if they use their boot animations?? Hell no!!
What about the fact that half these damn apps show up on the market for say 4.99 last for around a month then mysteriously disappear!! Gee, talk about thievery!!

Whatsapp? Its a bad idea. You would have to divulge your personal phone number. If you are comfortable with doing that there is still the issue of annoying noobs that keep on asking for ETAs. Imagine that, you phone going off every few seconds because someone asks a question that has been answered before or posts "CAN I HAZ ROM PLZ".

Basically you make a new circle and name it Xda and then add all the xda members you can find in the xda circle
Just Search for XDA on google plus, there seems to be a couple of pages out there
You can start adding people who post on the thread to you XDA circle
You will find quiet a few Top Devs there
There was actually a post about this in this same forum if you care to search or will update later

Whatsapp was a bad idea since everyone is required to have each others phone numbers, but why create a Facebook group, surely there is enough of these group pages out there, plus not all of us have facebook.
Surely, there are other alternatives out there, such as Google+ as suggested, Touch (PingChat), Kik, Microsoft Lync etc...

Now, apparently you expected everyone to be a mind reader and just mystically know that you searched via Google. And apparently we're supposed to somehow magically find an app on the Play Store that does exactly what you want it to do, even though you looked on the Play Store and none of the apps there are supposedly doing what you want the app to do. So, is there some reason Fake A Text Free isn't doing what you need it to do?
