hi all guys,
i bought the lenovo yoga tablet 2 10 inch last week, i had test the battery and sound, cause i prefer watch flim online, youtube or sport stream so when i watch an hours of youtube 1080p 60fps with 50% brightness and max volume, it comsumes 20%, it better or worse than yours
I just looked at mine and I had 5:30 of screen on time and 37% battery left if that helps you.... I get between 6-8 hours screen time on a charge over about 3 days use. I have the 1050F also.
From my LG-G4, Rooted running Stock 5.1
I get between 10 to 12 hours of screen time. I usually have the brightness set to 20% or less.

have you ever try watching a youtube 1080p-60fps 50% brightness and max volume from 100% to 0% anh shut down itself, it's about 5h and few minutes with mine, you should try it, at least once
that not good for your eyes

impressive, but the not good for your eyes, could you show me you onscreen time
I have received a Galaxy S5, the G900T version - T-Mobile USA.
At first I thought the battery was gone.
After 7 hours (overnight) it didn't lose even 1 percent. Standby time is great. There are no issues.
But when the screen is on, the battery drains very fast. I get max. 3h 45. minutes of SOT.
I also have a G900F and I manage to get 6 or 7 hours of SOT, using the same apps, in the same manner.
Any thoughts?
Switch batteries between the two S5's and see if the G900F still has the same good battery life
Switched the batteries. It's the same result. The European version gets great screen on time. The American one drains like crazy when the screen is on.
The G900t (American) is rooted and debloated. So that's funny.
What's also curious is that the standby time on G900T is great.
I have never seen anything like this - great standby and drainage only when the screen is on.

Yeap. It's the first thing I did. Anyway, the phone is for my son.
The standby is great, so he'll have to charge it more often. Almost 4h of SOT isn't all that bad.
Thanks.
Well you've got youtube set as the top battery draining app, so yea playing youtube is going to reduce SoT considerably, video and games will eat the battery
Works fine on the European version using youtube. I get at least 1h and 15 min vs 45.

I have G900T and its battery drain pattern is similar.
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Huawei Mate 10 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
6 hours 20 min
Just got mine a couple of days ago and wanted to test the battery out.
I had 100% at 7.36am and then went out. I did some normal chrome browsing during that time. I also did the first big update. The translator one that was about 300meg. I downloaded around 500 songs to Spotify.
I got home around 4pm and this is where I really used it almost non stop until 8.34pm.
I watched some YouTube, a 45 min Netflix episode, a ton of web browsing, checking out all the phone settings, Facebook, and about 90 min of gaming (tower defence, top down 2D scrolling shooters).
I stopped at 8.34pm at 5% left. Phone has been on battery for around 13 hours.
Screen on time during the above time reported at 6 hours and 20 minutes.
I was pleased with that though doesn't hit much of the hype I've read lately.
Coming from a Nexus 6P, which my only complaint was battery life (3.5 your SOT on average) I'm happy and really my wish was to have a phone that I could use heavily all day without needing to recharge either at home or out with a power bank.
It's still early stages and I will keep monitoring.
I forgot to add this was at 1080p resolution.
Sad that Moto Z Play beat this 4000mah on my Mate 10, I did lyft for 8hrs no turning off screen non stop playing Spotify and YouTube red on the background and using lyft app and Google map on the Z play and after 8hrs I still have 15% left on 40%screen brightness. The mate 10 only last 6hrs and 10%left. So lesson is don't buy Z Play then buy another more expensive phone. Bought mine $703 on ebay and I am using AT&T and I get same speed as iPhone 7 plus with regards to data speeds. I have a S8 too which I sold because of screen burn in, but the Mate 10 is a beast. It beats my S8 speed with regard to experience using the phone. And IPS is really the way to go if you use the phone how I use it everyday 8-16hrs of screen on time.
So after a few days use and after a 100% charge I get this estimated use. Hmmmn

Yes.
So far I get an average of 6.5 - 7hrs of SOT with average of 18-22 hours battery. Is that good?

IMO, it's very good considering the screen size :good:
Did you try comparing SOT with QHD vs FHD resolutions? I understand that SOT won't really improve if you go for lower resolution..
All pixels on the screen are used regardless. Just a bigger sample size with FHD. However, QHD will use a little more battery if you are changing the image on the display. For the fact that it has to draw that many more pixels each time the image changes. Which is millions of pixels. But I believe a lot of static image changing is done by the cpu and not the gpu. where gpu is used mainly for constant motion on screen.
But honestly part of the reason they have such high resolution is for VR. That and to make more sense of taking UHD pics and videos. Most people won't notice a working difference between the two through regular use unless they keep it really close to their face, or have very good eye sight.
So you will see it use some extra battery. Not a detrimental amount more unless you are a heavy user of games and whatnot. Or if you force GPU rendering, then you should see a big difference in battery

but its still interesting to see the results. If its like 0.5-1h of SOT to a SOT result which on QHD is 6-7 hours, I would never go for lower resolution..

I didn't try the higher resolution yet as 1080 for me is absolutely fine looking to my eyes. I came from a nexus 6p which was poor on SOT which I attributed to partly to the resolution.
Still it will be worth to try it at some point to see the difference.
My worst result with battery was today. 4.5 screen time but I did the most gaming and had hours of messenger chats with a 40 minutes voice chat thrown in.
super battery
i want to share my mate 10 battery with app ( gsam batterry )
i used whatsapp , instagram , twiteer . youtube , snap chat , phone calls lte , the screen is wqhd 2560x1440 all the time , screen bright is manual on 50 % level brightness
this what i got 13h 49 mint
see attachment
SOT:
Now after 10 days, mine is usually around 5-7 hours, if I just surf internet, Youtube, using FB, IG, RSS reader and camera (usually without flash). I'm mostly on WiFi using also only 1 SIM at a time (the other switched off).
If using games, this drops to 4-5 hours max. Seems the GPU is burning through battery like butter, the phone is also getting somewhat warmer.

Also been noticing that the mate 10 performs bad in games, could be because the games are not optimized to kirin ?

This is what I got so far.
8hrs 50mins 23s
* Max resolution set - WQHD - disabled Smart resolution toggle
* Social media, surfing, on WIFI like permanently all throughout the day
* Minimal youtube, no gaming (since I'm at work)
* first couple of days I was able to get around 7hrs SoT average

You guys know this is a waste of time without giving which model as the Pro in theory should have a better SOT with lower res and OLED
Mate 10 with AT&T Sim and always on Wi-Fi. This is what I get. Most of the time is on Twitter, Chrome, 30 minutes on sling TV today.
Seriously??? [emoji23]?

Not bad at all, gps on, Bluetooth on for miband 2, mostly wlan connection. Definately more sot than my s7 edge

...still on 115.… the smart resolution changes the reso automatically depending on the app requirements (from my understanding) ... haven't received the 119 but will definitely check as soon as I get it.. ?

I'm definitely impressed with this phone's battery life
Hello folks. Just wondering if this is widely known, or specific to my phone/ROM.
I just switched from a Moto G to a Galaxy S5. I've played candy crush for a long time, and while it was always a battery drainer on the Moto G, it is an extreme battery drainer on the S5. When I'm actively playing the game, it takes about 2% off the battery per minute!!!
This strikes me as ridiculous. Anybody having the same experience?
Thanks.
It is an old phone with small battery and high screen quality and heavy processor ,
what do you expect from it. Anyway!
Best way save battery of your phone use 15% brightness. it work for whole day with call and 4g for me with 4 yrs old battery.
saga games normally eat lot of battery and make my phone hot( for S5 - very very hot).

Unfortunately it is normal... I came from Redmi 2 Prime, dropped 1% each 6 minutes or more playing heavy games. I miss that battery so bad! My Galaxy S5 G900M also drops 1% every 2 minutes, and this brand new battery was purchased last week. The reason for the high drainage is the 1080p screen (even if you decrease the resolution to 720p, the battery keeps draining as hell) and the > 2.0ghz processor. There's nothing we can do about it. If you want battery, I recommend you Xiaomi Redmi 4x. My dad owns one, and it drops 1% every 10 minutes or more on normal usage (each 7/8 minutes playing)

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if the culprit was the high clock rate and high resolution.
Hey guys, my s10 plus battery wasnt that great out the box I was averaging 4:30 sot that's with alot of spotify 1 hour of YouTube snapchat all day and all the social apps, I recently changed it to wqhd and not only my screen looks better my battery life is much better I'm now getting 5:30-6 hours of sot it seems like Samsung optimised the display for the battery where on my s9 plus wqhd was draining more battery but it seems to improve battery on s10, just seeing if anyone's had the same experience
Hmmm.. Let me try that. I've only used FHD on my S10 since I got it.

What I know is that you have to be patient. The internal AI will adopt to your usage and then improve your battery life. It will take 2 or 3 weeks.

I have been told this by my friend who works in Samsung Store. I have the phone (S10 Exynos) for 11 days now and it is still not good as my S7 Edge...I have 79% now without much of usage. I took it from the charger at 7:40 or so.

Nope, that was just coincidence. Changing to WQHD+ will not improve battery life. It will reduce battery life by a very tiny amount. You must have had something else happen at the same time.
This is why comparing battry life with others is pointless, because there are just too many variables. As you have found, you can't even compare battery life with yourself without getting onconsistent results.

No reason it should take weeks to settle in. My first full day on the s10+ was 5.5 hours screen on time and still had 49% left after 16 hours. Currently on 40 hours off charger 7.2hrs sot and 17% left. This battery really is amazing but will always vary between users. Can't see how wqhd could do anything but hurt battery life but I'll run it tomorrow just to see what happens.

Thats insane. 5.5hours sot with almost 50% battery left? Surely you have turned off LOTS of features / adjusted brightness and various settings?
For me to achieve that i would need to use the phone at almost its lowest brightness and disable background activity, turn off auto sync, bluetooth, and pretty much anything else thats a battery drain!

I don't think I have that much disabled. Brightness is on auto and is often pretty bright, power saver is on medium so background data is disabled along with auto sync because I don't need push notifications. I have bixby routines turn on auto sync when charging at night to sync anything that needs it. I use Bluetooth in the car and for headphones at the gym. Probably 6-7 Bluetooth hours on that screenshot. Not much WiFi since I'm never home. Location on. Don't use bixby itself because, well, who does? It's pretty effortless really. Especially compared to my note 8 where it's nearly dead at 5 hours sot.
I'm upped the resolution on my S10 plus from the beginning and getting anywhere from 8-9 hours sot. Way better than the iPhone 10s Max I had! A lot faster too!
With a week so far of using the S10 I've gotten equal battery life with FHD and QHD. About 4.5hrs SOT and 15-19 hours up time.

Ah you have battery saver mode on. It works magic to extend your battery life. It gave me good life on my S9+ when I had it. But my logic is why did I have to have battery saver on to match the battery life that I got on my 1+6 and Pixel 2 XL?

Yeah. I've always used battery saver on every phone I've had. I'm kind of a battery life junky and when battery drains fast or when idling it bothers me. Some reason I got better life in my note 8 without saver on though. Helps on my s10 though and easily outlasts my wife's pixel 2 XL. It really all just depends on the user though. 4.5 sot is still a respectable time in my opinion especially for heavier users and about what I got on my note 8 and had no complaints. Difference now though is that I can use the s10 HEAVILY in one day and it won't die whereas my note 8 would have been dead hours before and would need a boost late in the day.
