Auto Brightness issue in most of custom roms. - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

Anybody notice auto brightness in custom roms are not smooth as miui rom. screen brightness suddenly goes too high or way too low. Its somehow really hard too adjust it.
ressurection remix 5.8.4(https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/development/rom-resurrectionremix-rom-5-8-2-t3577134)is the only rom which brightness work properly on it. I tested official lineage, official aosp extended and official rr 6 and they all have this issue.

Had this issue on MIUI stock ROM but works just fine on Resurrection Remix Oreo 8.1.0.

Maybe its because of different screen variant. Its not a big deal but I should keep screen auto brightness a little higher like 60 % which make screen too bright and battery drain faster.

Just turn off ambient display and the auto brightness feature will stop

Yeah!

GreyScale Nexus
Convert your phone's display to a black & white one.
Lollipop already has the "Invert Colors". With that, it also has a way inside the code to convert the display to greyscale. It works the same way as "Invert Colors". This app just gives you an option to turn on the GreyScale display.
It'll work on all lollipop ROMs, and possibly on the OEM's version of OS too (provided they haven't derped the frameworks).
Neither it is device specific. Releasing it here because I own a N5.

Now if only this beautiful device had AMOLED like the N6 so that this could save battery life :'/
Fantastic. Anyone know if this will improve battery life on the Nexus 5?
You can do this under developer settings

Galaxy Note 3 CM 12.1 Temasek V17.3: EXTREME battery drain!

EXTREME battery drain! On CM 12.1 Temasek V17.3. Help pls?
Hello!
I tried to ask about my problem in the original post of Cm12.1 but I can not write for lack of privileges yet, so I'm here to see if someone can help me.
Yesterday I installed cm12.1 (temasek) on Note 3 , install WhatsApp, Clash of Clans and little else (no facebook, twitter , etc ) . When I went to sleep had 100% battery and when I got up my surprise was that it had 67% of battery! This had never happened to me on Lollipop Stock, normally around 4-5% on all night.

I don't know what drained battery...
More that 8h was the phone in deep sleep and battery drainned so much. Any help, tips or something? Thanks!
PD: Using CM12.1 v17.3 Temasek, just intalled without changes.
Sorry! Pic's upload failed. Fixed.
Some idea someone? I dont wanna go back Samsung Stock! Thanks!
change kernel to tweakable ones like Audax, Arter97 or Shinto and tweak via Synapse for example ; tweak cpu and gpu voltages and frequencies to find your good compromise between performance and battery drain . I did that for my Aryamod 7.3 draining battery, now it's fine
Not even a single procent is lost here.
Do use temaseks settings. See first post over there.
And use better battery stats app or similar.

Favorite CM OP2 Rom?

I'm looking for a CM13 Rom with working laser focus camera, fingerprint sensor, good kernel support, and OTA updates (or some kind of updating system but honestly this isn't required. Does anyone have any recommendations?

It depends on your CM usage. If you want something unrooted then use mine Can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/development/rom-unrooted-cm13-oneplus-2-t3348109
I am looking into implementing an OTA system for people to use so they don't have to download the OTA files constantly but I get around a day and a half usage out of my phone.

Only thing keeping me from using MIUI is gcam, the quality of the camera is just too good to pass up, though the battery usage of MIUI roms are usually much better.

For me, besides gcam, its the screen burn-in issue.

There's an app that sort of solves the issue, ghost something, can't really remember it, if I had the cam quality in MIUI i'd definately use it,

Blinking dot under selfie camera appears on custom ROMs (just lockscreen)

Hi! I have a Galaxy A40 and i didn't had that problem with the stock rom, altough i read that even the stock system can producate the same issue.
I'm on the crDroid 9.0 Android 13 (the rom is incredibly good though). In the past i've tried other custom ROMs and a few of them had that issue but not just in the lockscreen but systemwide.
Fortunately in that case the dot blinks only on the lockscreen, and its not that visible with a darker wallpaper but it's still annoying.
(I've also noticed that if [not in the lock screen] the screen has a brighter image front of the sensor the auto brightness goes up and if it has a darker image front of it, the brightness will go down... It's maybe not the case and I saw that wrong but hey, idk.)
I have two questions about it, I would be grateful if anyone could help! :3
1.) IS IT BAD FOR THE HARDWARE?
Its maybe a stupid question but a constant flickering is not a calming thing thats for sure...
2.) IS THERE A WAY TO SOLVE THAT PROBLEM?
Are there fixes? Flashable zips, apps, mods or anything that is should try to make that disappear? Or I just shouldnt have light backgrounds anymore?

Thanks~ xoxo
It's required for the proximity sensor which is mounted behind the screen and needs the black dot to see through (I think!). Sadly doesn't look like it's fixable but it doesn't harm or cause issues other than it being a but annoying to look at. I think the flash we are all getting in these open source ROMs is a workaround for not knowing the exact matching frequency of the sensor.
