So, I modified stock flashing instructions to exclude the modem wipes and booted just fine into the fastboot stock ROM with everything intact - cell signal, IMEI, and 4G. I took an OTA thinking everything was okay, but boom - suddenly I have no cellular signal.
Do the OTAs update my modem or something? And can I accept OTA updates after restoring a backup of my EFS?
Thank for any help anyone can provide.
Any ota has the commands "erasemodemst", this is why I have been stuck on custom ROMs. If you restore your efs or IMEI, it makes no difference, any update erases these partitions, why they no longer stick is beyond me.

Hey guys! I have a query...
Now due to bad battery life since MJ7 firmware, I am looking for any possible way to downgrade back to MI5.
And I know that flashing MI5 in ODIN will fail because i have new bootloader and Warranty bit = 1 in download mode already.
However, i still have the nandroid backup of my MI5 ROM and before i flashed MJ6 in Odin that brought about new bootloader.
I also have EFS backup i made when I was on MI5 ROM back then as i know that modem will fail to downgrade and i will lose IMEI.
So the question, is it possible to restore my MI5 nandroid Successfully? Boot into phone and then Restore my EFS?
Or will there be something that stops this from working and likely cause a brick?

Okay. Any other opinions?
The Nandroid backup won't overwrite the new bootloader, and will just error out. - you are stuck with the new bootload I'm afraid man.
EDIT: yes softbrick is likely.

Does nandroid backup bootloader? I thought it was just kernel, cache, system, data and recovery.
Not sure if it does or not, however bootloader supercedes firmware overwrites/backup etc.
Hello, I was about to take my phone to a service center for check an weird noise, but since I was using CM11 with chinese modem, I decided to flash stock rom.
I'm on the old bootloader, I flashed I9500ZTOBMG1 but when I try to make a call it shows "not registered in network". I checked my imei with *#06# and it shows a generic IMEI starting with 0049...
I have already tried to reflash stock rom via odin, reflash stock modem via odin, restore to last CM backup, but problem still.
I DO have a EFS backup, it's a .tar and a .tar2.gz inside a folder called EFSProBackup, but I don't know how to use it or even how to restore my IMEI. I had already this problem before, but I don't know what I did to resolve. Can someone help me?
Problem solved: I flashed again the chinese modem via cwm after flashing a custom rom, I don't know why, but my imei is back again and working, But I still don't know how to have stock rom working....
... to the latest MF9 which is flashing every so often on my notification bar, on the phone.
I've TWRP recovery V2.6, so I'm assuming I download and fastboot the latest firmware (which I can not find), which wipes it clean, re-install TWRP and then what for root?
Really - No one?
I have this update, that everything it flashes, it kicks off the mobile network, which I need as Sprint had me reset the phone with ##72786#. No I have a phone that is unactivated and useless, unless I can get it to NOT think there is an update.
ANYBODY?
I flashed a H915 modem when rooting the other day, still haven't had luck connecting to lte, I'm going to return back to what it was before.
My question is, if I flash the kdz, does that over write the modem image I flashed.
I Keep losing wifi when on stock rom, Custom rom everything is fine , but i gave up trying to get atmos to work. So i want to restore back to stock either MM or Nougat. If somebody could upload a copy of their EU B2017G EDL firmware with the EFS partition i would be extremely grateful. I seem to have lost my backups.
Thanks
QUICK UPDATE
I found a copy of the full EDL backups from a Russian site. I done a full wipe using TWRP then i used my original stock UK MM 6.0. ROM and flashed from inside TWRP. Then used the Russian EDL files to give me Nougat B16. I Think it was flashing the stock rom with TWRP gave me the desired results, I was not getting any luck just flashing the EDL files alone. Hope this helps anyone else out who are not getting luck with radios on stock rom after using a custom rom.
(Apart from this, Its time for a new Phone!!!)
My mobile signal was weak i tried to flash but it was dead
