Tab 4 New User - Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 Questions & Answers

Are Tab 4 questions ok on this forum? If so, is there any way to connect to 5g fiber internet? Only the 2.4g speed shows up. I have the same issue with my Chromecast stick. All phones and laptops see 5g.

Wifi question

I searched the forums to no avail to the following question/issue.
It states on both the Samsung and TMO websites that the networking specs for the Vibrant cover 802.11 b/g/n. My router is dual-band and throwing both g and n signals because my ipod touch can only get g. My computer is connected to the n band. My Vibrant only sees the g band but I would love to connect it to the faster n. Is anyone able to connect to 802.11n? Why would my Vibrant not see the n signal if it is capable? Whadoido? TIA.
The Vibrant's wifi is, as far as I know, 2.4 GHz only, but a typical dual band router setup does b/g only on 2.4 and n only at 5.8. If you have the option to do b/g/n on the 2.4 GHz band it should work.
How do you check the wifi connection speed?

That doesn't make the internet on the phone faster since no way you can fully utilize the bandwidth of wireless g on a phone (someone correct me if I'm wrong).Try to disable both b/g on your router to see if it takes the n.
It's for streaming and file transfer from the server, not the internet. The problem is probably band frequency. Thanks.

Does the epic have wireless N?

I've noticed that my wireless N network doesn't appear on my epic is there a setting to turn it on it was advertised as having wireless N right?

im having the same problem. it says it has n in the specs, but my network dosent show up
Are you running at 5ghz or 2.4Ghz on your home access point? Does the Epic only support 2.4Ghz N?
It does support N right out of the box. My E3000 router shows an active N connectionn when I enable the phone's WiFi.
Im connected to my wireless g network and i've noticed that it disconnects for like 2 seconds and then reconnects right away
Anyway to fix this

Shows up as N on my router. Interestingly enough, max throughput for both my Epic and Evo are approximately 11 mbps.

theres probably an 802.11b device on your network. The network has to drop down to the speed of the slowest device on the network and b devices operate at 11 mbps

Force it to run on N only.
"how do I do that?"
Manual or google specific model.
It would be specific to your router. My epic is connecting to my single band 2.4ghz router. To force it, you'll need to access the router through your browser, like you would to change the network id or password.

That would seem unlikely - most modern routers support mixed-mode operation. I can push over 80 Mbit on my N-based laptop over 2.4GHz with b devices connected. On the 5GHz band, I get closer to 112 Mbit, but that's a different point entirely.
Both the Evo, Captivate, and Epic seem to top out, for me, at around 9-11Mbit. This is probably a processing limitation, WiFi chipset limitation, or chipset bandwidth limitation more than anything else.

Wireless tether 3G connection from Galaxy Tab

Is it possible like you would from a Nexus One with 2.2?
I mean tether 3G wirelessly from the Samsung tablet to a laptop for example. This would be like the tablet being a wireless router sharing the tablet 3G connection.
Thanks
Yes it is. All of them can. Or you can also root the tab and install wireless tether apk.

Just tried today to see how much the battery could go while tethering my milestone, the result (with casual use) is 16 hours

Poor speeds with connecting to WiFi hotspot

I am currently tethering my Nexus 4 to a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I get a solid 45 mbps down in my area on Verizon, but when I create a WiFi hotspot and connect my Nexus 4 to the WiFi, I get a maximum of 1 mbps down (I can get up to 10mbps up sometimes). Does anyone know why that is? I've literally tried everything. I've tried different roms on BOTH phones, different combinations of kernels, different combinations of tethering apps...I cannot get anything above 1 mbps down. I know there's nothing wrong with the WiFi chip on either phones, they can connect to my home router and get expected speeds. I can connect my Nexus 7 and my laptop to my Gnex and get great speeds, so I don't know why the Nexus 4 is having problems!
If anyone could offer any suggestions or anything, please don't hesistate to post. I am at a total loss!

Nexus Play does not like 5ghz N network..disconects

I posted about having trouble the first time getting it connected to my 5Ghz network but i got that to work finally.
Now the issue is it will say it is connected and it will work fine....until i leave it for the night. when i come back to it the player will say im connected to the network but there is no internet. have to disconnect and reconnect for it to work. Going to try it on my 2.4ghz network tonight.
They need to get to squashing these bugs!!!
mine has been running on my 5ghz n network since I opened it up a few hours ago no issue....then again it is like 3 inches from the router. If your router is a good distance from the device 2.4ghz would be better as it generally has a longer reach than 5ghz or at least that is my findings as anything in my bedroom has a hard time connecting to my 5ghz as apposed to the 2.4
Well my router is right next to my Nexus player... Maybe it's the router that is the issue. Have to check more into it. Been meaning to upgrade to an ac router anyway

You and me both especially since I have at least 3 devices that support AC.
if you are a fan of linksys/belkin, the wrt1900 is a tough router.
i currently use a ea9200 (ac3200) which is a tri band router. 2 5ghz bands and one 2.4. i would seriously consider moving up to ac1900 based routers...
