2017 8 & 10 Won't Connect to Xfinity Router - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've done a search both within this forum and Google in general, and can't seem to find an answer, I'm hoping someone here has run into this...
My 2017 HD 8 and 10 both work on every wifi I've tried EXCEPT for my Xfinity supplied router. Every other device I own works just fine with the Xfinity router. The Fire devices show "connected," but I'm seeing the "!" next to the wifi icon and no signs of an actual connection within the system or apps. I've tried the most common suggestions in semi-related threads on other sites ("forget" the network and reconnect, restart device/router, etc.), I've tried connecting via WPS as opposed to standard password, and no change in status.
The router is set to WPAWPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES).
I am able to connect both devices at home via a Netgear router I have LAN'd to the Xfinity router. I'd like to have them connect to the Xfinity router due to other devices on that specific wireless network and signal in different parts of the house.
Any help from other Xfinity users (or network experts) is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

connecting my XDA to a different router

Hello,
I have got two wireless routers at home and my XDA Exec is connected to wireless router A.
i am trying to change the settings on my xda so that it connects to wireless router B, but i cant find the place where i can change the settings,
can you guys help me.
hi
i have managed to find out how to delete items from the list, by pushing hard on the stylus, i get the option of removing from the list.
I can't connect to the network which i want to connect to, originally i had it connect to my network "BTHome-hub" with no problem, and i wanted it to connect to my netgear router which is an unencrypted network, not connected to the internet.
to force it to reject the BTHome_hub, i changed the WEP key(yes, i am a noobie), so that i could get the next network, and then i started getting this problem of the xda showing all the devices in the neigbourhood as available (and some old devices which is shows as unavailable), and it runs through each of those available devices, trying to connect to each of them, and it fails to do that.
i have gone through a number of the posts on the forums. and have tried the following.
1. change Power Mode to Best Performance !! in my Wifi Settings.
2. i had no mac filtering on any of my routers, and have turned on mac router on one of the routers and added the mac address of my xda
3. i tried the following start-settings-connections-network cards-my network card connects work and rest to internet, this time around i was prompted for a password, whereas neither does my router have a password and the authentications i open and data encryption is disabled
(does connects to (in configure wireless network) the internet/work make any difference?
if one of the routers has a strongers signal than the other, would the xda wireless get confused and try to connect to the router with the stronger signal?
i was thinking that channel 11(on which i am) is quite busy and hence i changed the channel to channel 1, do i need to make the channel modiiications on the xda as well
what does the soft reset rest?
a) soft reset is like turning your desktop/laptop computer off and then on again. hard reset is like reinstalling the operating system on your pc.
b) if one router has such a bad signal that the universal loses the connection, the uni will look for another router. it will ask you which new one to connect to unless it already has settings for a new one.
c) if you're getting interference problems, set the router to channel 13. it's europe-legal only so american routers don't usually use it. your clients (pc's and your universal) will scan for the right channel.
d) at the pc shop where i work, we get LOTS of problems with BT Home Hubs' wifi - so don't think it's your fault, it probably isn't.

Unknown Wi-Fi problem

Hello,
I am having the following issue while using Wi-Fi: in the list of available networks is a type of connection I have not seen before. It seems to be a modification of sorts of my own wi-fi connection, but if the device connects to it, I cannot connect to either websites or to the other PCs on the LAN.
This connection is represented by a different type of icon as you can see on the screenshots. I have not created it, but it may be a remnant from my previous connection - look at the names, one has a space in between, the other hasn't. I created the new one (without the space) after I changed my router to D-Link's DIR-600.
An interesting thing about this connection is that the device does connect to it even when not anywhere within range of the router (say 2-3 km.)
Any ideas?
This the symbol for an Ad-Hoc network (Computer to Computer). You can probably remove that connection and still be o.k.
Thanks!
I tried removing it, but it then creates it again.
Of course, I can always disconnect and connect to the other network.
I have never dealt with Ad-Hoc connections. Isn't this connection supposed to enable access to the other computer then? Like LAN? And why does the device connect to this network when far outside the router's broadcast signal?

[Q] Problem connecting to Netgear WiFi Router.

I have my Tattoo rooted with 1.6 (can't recall the ROM name) with build number 1.67.405.6. Almost everything works fine except the connection with my home WiFi network. It's a PPPoE connection through ADSL modem. Next in line is the Netgear WG602 v3 WiFi router. At the beginning I couldn't connect at all so I changed the router's ROM to DD-WRT. Now I can connect with the router but no connection to the internet whatsoever. I can ping my router through my Tattoo, I can even open the 192.168.1.1 and mess around with its software but no connection to the internet. It is only limited to my Tattoo as I can connect through my laptop, through my other mobile (HTC S710) and also I can connect my Tattoo with any other WiFi (Secured or Open) with no problems at all.
I tried with no Security, with WEP, with WPA-PSK to no avail. Any other clues?
try running htc mail while you are using your wifi throuf your tattoo it worked for me
What is supposed to happen if I do that? I'm trying it as soon as I get home btw.
Nothing happened
Hi all...sorry for my interference but this problem is similar to mine.
I'm going mad from many weeks trying connect my Huawei Ideos (U8150) to my home wlan through a netgear VG602v3 AP. No way to do this.
Wifi works from my laptop and from my girlfriend's laptop, but from ideos it doesn't.
I turned off all wireless device in my house, I tried with/without WPA, I tried open network from channel #1 to channel #13, tried changing ssid and I also tried praying .
There is a weak wifi near here: it is on channel #1 and its power is between -89 and -82db. My wifi power (data from kismet) is between -50 and -18 db and is configured on channel #11.
In any cases, even if I put my Ideos near to AP antenna the story is ever the same:
- Ideos indentify the wifi network
- Ideos acquire the IP
- I open the browser or the android market and...
- Ideos lose connection...and so on.
I downloaded from work wifi (crypted with WPA) a wifi scanner from app store: it shows me the neighbour's weak wifi and my wifi network which appear and disappear recurrently.
Please, someone helps me (without suggest to buy another AP!!), any suggestions are welcome!!
Have you tried logging into the router and checking the privileges for devices. Some of them have a security element that restricts the use of the internet on newly connected devices until the setting is changed. I had a similar problem with a new laptop.
hope it helps.
I checked every setting to no avail. I still think somehow that my problem is with my router or adsl modem which doesn't connect automatically with PPPoE and Android doesn't have any command or software to initiate a PPPoE connection.
Other than that... Can't find any solution. Until then, I use connectify on my Win7 laptop. The thing is that I have to keep my laptop switched on as long as I'm in the house.

thank you for suggestion. I looked in depth but I did not found the option of which you were talking about. The unique solution still remains change the AP!!!
WiFi and Netgear Router
I think I finally found the answer. It appears Netgear routers support something called WiFi Multimedia. Its a QOS methodology. I disabled WiFi MM or WIMM as its sometimes called, as well as Internet QOS and all my problems connecting to web pages, the market, etc. through WiFi disappeared.
Strange that older versions of the ROM supported WIMM (or ignored it) and newer ones don't. But that solved the problem for me with no real degradation of performance on any of my other computers.
Good luck.

My Friend's Galaxy Player 5.0 Can't Connect to His Home Wifi

My friend has a Galaxy Player 5.0 and he can connect to other WiFi Networks(It can connect to our school's network, the public optimumwifi network, etc.) but his house's. All the computers in his house can connect to his Home WiFi. His network name shows up on the Wireless Networks list on his Galaxy Player 5.0. He tries to connect to it. He types in the right WiFi password. It says "Connecting", then "Obtaining IP Address" and then right away, it says "Disconnected". Then when he sees it on the Wireless Networks list again, below his network name, it says "Disabled, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK" His router is a Belkin G Wireless 957B73 and all his computers in his house can connect to it, but his Galaxy Player. I tried to help him via Skype ShareScreen. I thought it was because of some setting on his router. I told him to go to 192.168.2.1(His Default Gateway) for the Belkin options and stuff and I don't know what to do from there. I'll keep checking thread and will try to reply ASAP to your post replies if need be.
check device

If the device's wifi profile suggetsed disabled, then best is to delete the existing profile on player and start again. If it failed again, login the router check on the wireless seeting and local LAN setting to find the history of the player record then delete the entry.
Thanks for the tip.
May be the router has reacherd the maximun number of devices connected simultaniously, or it has another security feature additional to put the password in the deviceā€¦ just a theory.

Open VPN - no access to home network

I recently bought a new Asus router that allows me to use it as an Open VPN server.
Installed the Open VPN GUI/Apps on both Windows and Android devices, and both platforms were giving me full access to my Home network.
However, while the Windows devices still work 100%, all my Android devices are now barred from entering my Home network (though they allow general internet access through the server just fine).
Any ideas what's gone wrong on the Android side of things?
Thanks.
How are you connecting to your VPN server? Are your Android devices connected via wifi etc or are they using cellular networks to connect via your WAN
It sounds to me like a routing issue, for example your local network could be 192.168.1.0 and your VPN 10.0.0.1, so if your android device is connected via the 10. network unless routed it wouldn't know how to access your 192 network.
This seems like a similar issue, maybe you can find more help here: https://forums.openvpn.net/viewtopic.php?t=21311
Thanks for the reply, which I've only just had a chance to look at.
I can't get inside my network by neither cellular or wifi.
I'll have a good look at the link you've posted and report back.
I'm very much a network newbie and this has been very frustrating as it worked when I first set it up and now it doesn't, in spite of router factory resets.
