So I'm using Oreo and I am really unhappy about the battery life. Do you have any expert tips to extend Mi A1's battery life?

Install custom rom FrancoKernel ⚡️ this kernel included Boeffla wakelock blocker which reduce a lot of kernel wakelocks. You can check wakelock list from FrancoKernel source code.
For 3rd party apps, you need to control it by your own.

Have you looked through "battery>app usage" to see if any are using a lot of juice? I have been blown away by how long my battery lasts (it is stock though).
I have been using mine for ages, changing setting and top are:
google screen on 5%
phone 3%
voice calls 2%
google play services 2%
google play store 1%
current stats:
77% left - 20 hours
last charge 8h 8m ago
screen usage 2h 18m
hi, I disabled battery background activity both in Googleplay services and in Mi Feedback app. You should gain almost a 15% battery on each charge.

Here is a good start point to detect and reduce wakelocks
1. Use BetterBatteryStats on unrooted Xiaomi Devices
2. Disable wakelock without root on Xiaomi Devices
won't disabling the play services cause issues with gms and other push services?

Hello all,
I've had my 6P since launch, and I've tried everything lately but my SOT has been poor (1h-1h30).
I've tried MM unrooted, Nougat unrooted, MM with Greenify, MM with Greenify and Amplify.
Basically the phone is rarely awake with screen off, but when the screen is on the battery just drains very quickly. I'm sure there's nothing keeping it awake, it just seems that the battery is "wasted" when I'm using it.
I installed ElementalX kernel to test, but that didn't seem to make a difference.
Any thoughts?
Thanks a lot!

That is really low for sure. Is your screen brightness cranked up? Playing a lot of games or cpu intensive apps?
Install betterbatterystats or gsam battery monitor to see what is draining the battery. If using gsam, ignore high usage of mediaserver unless it also shows high usage in your stock battery stats as well.
I believe ElementalX kernel is basically the stock kernel, but allows you to make more changes than stock with it's companion app, Ex Kernel Manager. I'd try Ninja kernel or Franco kernel instead.
If no apps show abnormally high usage with battery monitors it could be time for a battery replacement. They are only about $25 if you're comfortable opening it up.
That's odd I had same issue my thoughts are possible virus something that would turn off encryption.
Everytime I turned off my phone when it powered on it wouldn't ask for password after clean install it would for a few days but now with naugut and on a new wifi that haven't seen me before was able to get factory reset and be fine and my battery has gone from lasting barley 12 hrs with screen mostly off to having around 55 left at 10 hrs
right now I'm at 69% for 9 hrs have 22 hrs left.
Also check your top apps for use Microsoft office for Android was really killing my battery also.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I have terrible standby battery life from Android Kernel, LineageOS System, System UI, and Google Play Services.
Does anyone know how to improve them?
I have the same problem. System and kernel are eating all of my battery. Couple that with the bad (but normal) drain from Facebook, Chrome, etc and I'm getting 2h of SOT if that
Delete please. Misread the thread.

Hi all,
Im having a very strange battery related issue these days.
I charge my device to full and use normally, the battery drains veryyy fast. Its like 1-2% per min. When i sleep at night if the device is 80% charged on waking up i find it to be at 65-70%.On checking the battery stats i find no battery hogging app. The device is in deep sleep for the entire night, not even a single wake up. Another weird issue is that my battery stays at 1% for at least 40mins
what I tried?
* Have greenify and amplify module enbaled in xposed.
* Tried calliberating battery many times.
* Flashed kernel/borets kernel, none worked out.
How the issue arises?
* My device was 100% normal when i was on stock rom, no issues like this at all. Then i flashed montana rom.I noticed this issue within first day of usage. I thought it was due to rom so i flashed mnml rom.Same issue there. Then flashed leopard black, gecko premium,zenodex,cm12.1 and what not.but the issue remains same.
*I thought this is due to rom's so reverted to stock kitkat, now this issue is there too.Tried upgrading to l,no relief.
My current system:
android L stock.
rooted, xposed installed.
using greenify and amplify modules.
Guys, any help will be very useful for me.
Thanks

Yeah we all know that zenfone's battery performance is just ****.
But we can slightly improve the battery performance by doing some tweaks. So use LSpeed app to improve the battery performance. Of has inbuilt govtuner . Now I'm getting between 3 - 4 hours SoT (screen on time). This is because of lspeed, just set the profile to battery and then you will get slightly improvement on battery performance.

Ok, Let me try and post the results here!
i'm getting an average drain of 9.5% per hour and i've tried different kernels , upon flashing the kernel for the first day i'd get about 8 or 7.7 ℅ drain per hour but after a day or two it jumps back up to 9.5 - 10 is this too much for active drain?? can this be fixed with a kernel or a custom rom? Btw i forgot to mention i'm getting this active drain at about 10-15 % brightness and i'm also running the latest franco kernel with no limits rom, i would really appreciate it if someone could help me out .
Wait, this means you are getting SOTimes of about 10 hours?

nope only about 8 hours because of idle drain i guess
You are talking about drain while the screen is on? That doesn't seem like a high number to me. You might be able to extend that by choosing the most battery friendly governor, under clocking the CPU or some other things that will make the performance of the phone suffer--but I'm not sure why you would want to waste money on a powerful phone and then throttle everything to maximize battery life. I suppose you could also go into the Developer Settings and severely limit the number of background processes that are permitted to run and also keep the phone running in battery saver mode most of the time. It's ultimately your phone. I'm sure you can find some tips for extreme battery savings if you do a Google Search.
I get about 7.5-8% drain with my screen on based on AccuBattery and about .3-.7% with idle drain (screen off). The combined drain is about 2.8-4% per hour based on usage obviously.
For basic info, I'm on auto brightness, stock OOS and stock kernel and I'm a medium/heavy to heavy user. I use my phone A LOT for work and play.
If you do a lot of web surfing, I found that habit browser is the most feature packed browser and the lightest on battery drain, and it's free with an ad blocker! So that could help some.

wow you must be getting amazing SOT, thanks alot for your help i guess ill have to try stock rom and kernel
Tell your combinations of rom , kernel and profiles if any
Happy to see screenshots of batter consumption if wanna share .Some people get 10+hr screen on time how ??????
I get about 9-9.5 hours
PureFusion ROM with lightning kernel v15
Enable Doze for Google Play services magisk module
Forcedoze from Play store
Greenify with Xposed
Amplify Xposed module
However, I uninstalled Xposed and all those battery savings tweaks/apps to see how battery life is with just the ROM. So far I'm at 2 hours screen on time and went from 100-80. About 5 hours off the charger.

Great but I don't like that aosp or lineage os and i am in love with oos any best kernel for oos ??
franco kernel + battery life labs settings -> CPU and GPU underclock
Naptime
lower max brightness
backlight dim
around 9h screen on time when doing light stuff, if i play highend games or record 4k videos all the time, its less for sure

I don't use OOS but if I did I'd probably use either Flash kernel or blu_spark

Update:
Without any battery saving app or tweak, so far, my results are:
19.5 hours since 100% and off a charger
6 hrs and 50 mins of SOT
30% remaining
Looks like there really isn't much of a need for all those battery saving mods/apps! At least not for me and at this rate

It's near to stable and benchmark is also increased
After 95% battery charging becomes slow.
Is it good to charge to 100% or 90% is enough for daily usage affecting on battery life?

Indeed. But the 1-100% that we see on screen is basically the 30-90% of REAL battery capacity. It's controlled by chip in battery. It's tested. Measured. 5 years ago by someone on XDA.
Same with Hybrid/Electric cars which shows us 1-100% which in reality is 40-70% of REAL battery capacity.
You cannot destroy your phone battery with regular charging until you don't put it over extreme heat.

The reason for 40-80 is not because of the capacity rather it's because of the shorter charge cycle. You just need 20 minutes to top up that much. so heat buildup is less. Also after 80 the battery gets heated more to top-up till 100 even though it's trickle charging.

Good, those battery saving things are not at all good for a running environment as they seek out the cancellation and constant stopping of programs processes and apps that your phone doesnt know how to react to other than restarting them which wastes more energy. I was never on the side of custom kernels but i had used them and received no benefit in performance or battery. Went to pure stock and my battery is insanely good. 5 hours of sot and i havent charged for 3 days still going even with Bluetooth and high accuracy location on all 67 hours with consistent switching between wifi and data but i do leave the data on in combination with WiFi no matter what.
