I've used Lawnchair, pixel launcher, pear launcher, all of these exhibit laggy app drawers after about 2 seconds of scrolling through them. I thought it was a problem with the launchers but they all do the same thing.
I'd use Nova but I love the spring app drawer effect really lol...
Any ideas?
I turned off "Force GPU Rendering" in settings and it made all the lag instantly go away silly me

Okay, when I scroll through the app drawer, it lags a bit. Any settings to fix this?
Ok so this is a weird problem.
90% of the time the phone works 100% perfectly.
Sometimes when I try to swipe between homescreens the phone does nothing...its not locked up because the capacitive buttons work, and tapping the bottons on the bottom will let me switch home screens without a problem, it is JUST swiping that wont work.
A reboot of the phone makes swiping work again...any ideas? This is super weird.
Are you using the default Gingerbread launcher? I heard a lot of people were having trouble with that at the outset. Haven't heard as much about it lately, but I'm not sure if that's because it's been fixed or just because everyone's either learned to live with it or switched launchers.
Back when I was using the stock launcher, I experienced that a few times too. I also experienced other glitches and oddities, like difficulty in moving icons on my home screen or sometimes when trying to move icons, they would disappear and appear instead in a folder. Very random stuff. Anyway, the screen swiping issue also showed up a few times.
I've since switched to ADW launcher and haven't looked back.
Gingerbread is glitchy. That much is clear. Hopefully Google will issue more bug fixes soon.
Training am using the stock launcher. I really like the 3d app drawer and it is buggy in launcher pro. How is it in adw?

I find ADW to be thoroughly awesome. You can give the free ADW.Launcher a try, but it's missing a few features that are in the paid version ADWLauncher EX, including the 3D app drawer. Unfortunately, you don't get much of a trial period now that Google has reduced their refund window to 15 minutes, but you ought to be able to test out the app drawer and play around with the other features at least a bit in that time if you want.
I too vouch for ADW. The free version itself is quite an excellent launcher. I used to be an avid LauncherPro fan back on my Vibrant, but on the Nexus S, ADW is smooth as butter. The ability to customize your icons on the home screen (which is only available in the paid LP version) is great too. Virtually no hiccups whatsoever swiping through screens.
Either case, it's tons better than stock launcher.
I have the same exact problem and I'm all stock. I usually reboot all apps and programs using FastReboot from the market and it goes back to normal. I agree that Gingerbread still has its glitches still =[
So if o pay for adw launcher the 3d drawer works fine?

Who knows? Download it and see. All I can tell you is it works great for me.
The stock launcher is buggy as hell. I use launcher pro and it runs flawlessly.

The 3d app drawer (called 4d app drawer in adw) runs horribly on the nexus s. If you plan on changing launchers, adw is good, but the only decent app drawer to select for it is horizontal fling.
Adw holds up relatively well now on the nexus s (ran like arse on 2.3.1). Sometimes however adw will all of a sudden freeze though. You think your phone is frozen but it's not, the launcher has just slowed down to a crawl. The launcher buttons at the bottom work fine when this issue occurs, but swiping of screens will appear not to work.
If you get this problem in adw, you have to go into applications and find adw, then force close it (it doesn't appear as running under task killers, so you can't kill it from there). It will then run fine again. I have had this happen a couple of times with adw and I used to think I had to reset the phone. Was a pain.
The stock launcher problem you have stated in this thread I have encountered as well, which is why I moved to adw. While the stock launcher appears to use acceleration in the app drawer, which i love too, the regular launcher home screens are basically unusable at this stage. I hope they fix it soon, but it likely wont be for a while.
This happened on my G1, my Nexus One and my Nexus S.
I finally wised up and installed LauncherPro (on my N1 and NS) and the problem doesn't happen anymore. In fact, LauncherPro is way faster than the default launcher.
The age-old (and largely pointless) debate between LP and ADW aside, the OP already said LP didn't work well for him.
Hit Menu > Manage Applications > Running > Menu > Show Cached Processes > Launcher > Stop > Home
Swiping will work again after that, until the next time the bug occurs. Quicker than rebooting though.

As opposed to just swipe >.

I have launcher pro and it works fine. I just really like the 3d drawer which didnt really work well in launcher pro.
I'll just deal for now that problem comes up like once a week so its not a huge deal
Wow that worked...thanks

launcher pro vs ADW?
I want to get something new too but I don't want to customize my phone TOO much because of the steep learning curve and having to remember how things work.
Anyone know which of the two is most similar to the stock launcher?
I think this issue started only after Jelly Bean.I'm not sure though.
THE LAG:
-> After exiting an heavy app using Home button, such as Facebook if you swipe left or right there is a minor shutter for 2-3 swipes.
After that the UI becomes fluid.
-> If you are updating/installing many apps and your notification bar is constantly being updated, navigating in home screen is very laggy.
-> If you get a message like "Wifi Connected" or "Message delivered to XYZ", during that brief moment the UI lags.
THE SOLUTION (Using Nova Launcher):
1) Enable Labs in Nova launcher.
How: While in Nova's settings menu, hold volume down for 2-3 seconds. You'll see a toast notification letting you know that Labs was successfully enabled. Similarly, if you wish to disable the new menu for any reason, just hold volume up for 2-3 seconds.
2) Go to labs.
Tick the following two settings:
a. UI Lock
b. Widget Image Cache
That's it. Enjoy the UI smoothness like iOS.
I've tried it for whole day and the battery isn't affected at all. No sacrifice in performance either.
Quick bump!!
Does it work for any one else or is it just a Placebo for me?
It didn't work for me. I still have the stutter.
If you are on nova launcher prime goto advance settings in nova and click on aggressive desktop. No more lags.
Note : nova version should be 2.0 for this

I'm running the brand new Nova beta (2.0.1 beta 1). UI Lock and Widget Image Cache were already ticked/enabled. So it looks like these might be enabled by default in future builds.
Hi,
I have been using HD870DS for quite sometime now. While I don't really like the user interface, what stood out the most is the lag while clicking the icons and actually things happening. Take the example of opening settings menu and then opening its sub menus, there is perceptible lag even after disabling the animation, I have Honor 8 running same Android 7.0 feels faster, Is this normal? or is my device only, I have reset-ted the device couple of times but no avail. This extends to third party launchers too, this is the reason I uninstalled Nova and currently using LG Home launcher. While clicking some Icon in homescreen there is perceptible lag between clicking and app opening. Do you have this problem too?

nothing for me.... I use pixel 2 launcher... it's smooth as fluid....
Nothing here.... maybe some apps are causing this lag.

I doubt that because my freshly formatted G6 has lag albeit slight but noticeable to me.
Try toggling the "Force GPU Rendering" under developer option. And you will feel the difference. It will work smooth.
Anyone noticed slow animations for app closures when you are using Nova launcher? Any fix or work around?

I notice it. I have been using nova launcher since day one on my 6T. The only slow animation I am facing is if I swype from the bottom centre to go to the home screen from within an app. If I am pressing back or swyping up from bottom right or bottom left, the animations are quick.
I mailed Nova Devs about it, and they said it is not to be fixed from their end but from Oneplus' end. As if you are in another app, Nova does not play any role then. According to them, all third party launchers should be having this. I have not tried any other cuz Nova is just too good otherwise.
Third party launchers do not support OnePlus's gesture animations. Only the stock OnePlus launcher will have the proper animations

I had the same problem with nova and decided to try another launcher (lawnchair) but this has the same issue.
I have noticed with this launcher that the 'ok Google' always shows up in the pill widget where on nova it would often be blank. Don't know why that is.
You can speed up animations in developer options. I set .5x for Window/Transition animation scale, as well as Animator duration scale. That's usually the first thing I do
on a new phone. I can't stand slow animations, and Nova feels so much better with those set

I will be getting my 6T next week...
On all my previous phones (there are many) I have always used Nova Launcher - I really like it particularly the TeslaUnread notification add-on as its great for showing unread message count and on other apps also.
Whats the unread notification like on the 6T ? (I have never had a OnePlus phone before so not sure how they handle this)
Also how is 6T in general with stock launcher - I just find Nova so customisable and it will be hard for me to not use it but I would like to try not to...
Cheers Frosty

No problems with nova
Working great ..animations are fast & smooth
Tesla unread working properly...
Same "problem" with Evie launcher, it's not laggy but compared to oos it's slower, using .5 animation speed fixed it.
Perhaps oos has a 1 in animation that is in reality 0.5 in equivalence to other launchers. Sort of small cheat from oneplus?
