So based on my experimentations, I have concluded that to use adoptable storage with no bugs or errors as such you won't be able to access sd card because the random bug appears out of nowhere, is that you only have to follow these 3 steps;
1. Use latest stock kernel of lineage os,
2. Micro sd card i/o scheduler is to be set as "noop"
3. Enable sdcardfs with the help of magisk module
To set I/O schedulers use the kernel manger.
To enable sdcardfs here is a procedure https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-enable-sdcardfs-t3603375
I have tested with other kernels but it causes a problem to install big playstore apps like more than 100mb where it doesn't get installed with the adoptable storage that's the only issue but the bug which I mentioned earlier does not appear.
And I'm using nougat based os.
This is specific to regard of Redmi Note 3 and maybe it will work in other devices if you have a problem as specified above.

150mb usable internal storage - storage taken by GApps = Too little
As far as I know, the memory increasing scripts (For example Amarullz script) only work when you're running a specific kernel, how can I have the same effect on CM11? After installing GApps, only under 100 mb is left for apps, which is way too little to actually install apps and use the phone
Use Search
anyway here's a guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-y/general/how-to-increase-internal-memory-samsung-t2963600
Hi guys,
I followed a lot of tricks ,found here on xda forums, on how to increase internal memory for the galaxy y.
I tried some apps but I was not satisfied:silly:, used link2sd, it is good but it asks sometimes for mounting partitions...
So, looked for some other alternatives that can make me feel the increase of memory as "natural". I found amarullz script(ext manager), flashed it , removed all methods and installed script.
All was almost perfect because my internal storage really increased and the ext2 partition is used as internal memory but the only problem is that sometimes it shows the famous error "Inconsistent System UID"
I wiped data and cache...not fixed.
This script is really good to me and I wonder how to fix this issue, is there a missing step during installation (I followed this procedure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvGpsLHAiFo) ?
I use jellyblast v3 rom with kernel MerrukTechnology_Pre-2.0.
Please help.
Hello all.
Phone, OS and Problem Description
I have some problems with my klte, always running a fairly recent Lineeage OS 14.x ersion. Sometimes when taking photos or having other write access to my external sd card, my phone reboots. It just crashes and the picture taken is not being saved properly. If I mount the sdcard using a microsd-to-sd adapter on my linux machine, I can see the corrupted file.
I them have to put the sd card into a Windows PC (i don't own one, but others in my household luckily do) to clean up the exFAT partition. This is a no go and often very annoying when travelling or being at work. Even TWRP won’t do.
Perhaps the sd card is broken, it's a Transcend Premium 64GiB Class 10 UHS-1 microsd card.
Anyway. I'd like to use ext4 (w/o journal), btrfs or f2fs or any other FS on my external sdcard as the only partition. I can mount and fsck that on my linux and in TWRP.
So, what did I do so far?
I tried f2fs.
Sadly, if i write a folder to such a partition in LOS14 using FX file explorer, it will belong to u1_a12 and the very same app won't even be able to list files in that directory. Yes, the execute bit is missing on that folder. So this won't work.
I tried ext4
Same as above
btrfs perhaps?
I didn’t try it so far.
Does this work with Resurrection Remix, Slim or crDroid? Are there any other options? I loved SlimBean on my Galaxy Nexus, but there isn’t a current official release for klte, sadly.
Any recommendations? I’m open to switching my rom, I had ResurrectionRemix Marshmallow for a year or so on my S5. Also, I’d be open for other ideas how to check my sdcard more thoroughly. Perhaps using badblocks or F3.
Thanks in advance for your opinion and input!
Any progress on this?
Hi @ll, my wife's S5 (klte) is suffering from a common display issue: depending on the display's brightness the lower half of the screen starts blinking / flickering.
(To avoid this behaviour the brightness is set to max atm)
As such I what to clone her S5 1:1 to another SM-900F, however what's the simplest way to achieve this. The S5 runs with the official LineageOS 16.0 with Mindethegapps and Magisk.
It has a 128 GB SD card, where the first 64 GB of the encrypted partition are mapped to the internal memory as an extension, while there's a second exFat 64 GB partition, which is used as external space.
I tried to nandroid with TWRP and copying the backup files the the exFAT, but I'm not able to restore those onto the other S5 as either can't see the exFAT partition while on TWRP, nor copying all to an OTG as the encryption key is not recognised on the other S5?!
What's your suggestion for cloning a device?
I have an SM-T380 with a 32GB MicroSD card in it and I ran into an issue a few weeks ago where I was extracting a large amount of data to the MicroSD card, everything was going well until I hit a directory with the name CON, at that point the extraction failed. Upon further investigation I found that I could not extract to the directory, nor create the directory call "CON" I also found this to be true with the directory "PRN" and I am positive there are a few others that won't work.
What's so special about these directory names? These are reserved names from the old MS-DOS days and Android is using a FAT32 filesystem (MS-DOS compatible). I did find that if I tether the tablet to my Linux workstation I can (using Gnome files) create either directory, populate them, and the Android OS will happily use them, but I can not create them with the Android filemanager.
The problem does not exist on the internal storage and I tried to format the MicroSD card as an ext3 filesystem but the tablet doesn't recognize the filesystem. I do know that if I were to enable adoptable storage the issue of the reserved filenames goes away probably because it's the same filesystem as the internal storage, BUT I can't enable adoptable storage.
Because of what I use the tablet for I would rather not root the device, especially while Samsung is still issuing updates (last update was a security patch dated Jan 1 2020).
My questions are
1) anybody know how to get around the reserved file name in Android? (eg different recognizable filesystem type?)
2) Any way I can enable adoptable storage WITHOUT root? (I did this on a SM-T315 before updating the software and once enabled it kept the adoptable storage after the software update)
Thanks,
-TL
