[Q] Timezone and time correction for Google Authenticator

Just wondering what you use to set the time and timezone in order to use Google Authenticator. It's a good thing to put on the Nook in case you drop your phone in water!
You can set the time zone under Settings|Time|Time Zone. When wifi is on the Nook automatically uses NTP to set the time. Not sure how often it updates the time and don't think there is a built in way to force an immediate time update. Search the market and I'm sure you'll find an app to force an immediate time update.

There's ClockSync, which I've been using for years. Supposedly, though, new versions of the Google Authenticator app know how to sync its internal clock with that of Google's authentication servers, even if the system time has drifted. YMMV.

[Q] Why are App Privacy settings show different permissions than App Store?

Hello,
I wanted to ask a question about the difference in permissions for an app that are shown on the Play store and in App Privacy area of the setting.
For example, when I downloaded Accuweather Platinum from Play store, I was told that the app will have access to Identity, Location, and Photos/Media/Files. For Identity, it further stated that it "uses one or more of: accounts on the device, profile data."
I found it rather intrusive that a weather app would want access to my identity information, be it anything. Especially, since their privacy policy dictates that they can track user behavior on ANY site the user visits and not just on AccuWeather site.
But when I go to Settings -> App Privacy -> AccuWeahter, I only see the permissions listed as "coarse location, fine location, vibrate, keep awake" and the check boxes are there to block either one or all of them (location, vibrate, keep awake.)
Can someone please help me understand how this works. Why did Google Play mention that app will have access to my identity information and if the app really has that access, why won't App Privacy allow me to restrict that access.
Thanks
I've been trying to find out how the new google play permissions work too. I don't know what permissions have changed any more because it only lists all permissions and doesn't makr the new ones, so you have to go back to the Application settings and look at what they currently use and then, like you say, work out how they line up. I think google has succeeded in gettting people to not care anymore about permissions. Why take away the visibility and control of it all? Anyway, hope I can find something that can help. In the meantime, I just won't update apps with changed permissions.
I do have an app that now says "uses one or more of: accounts on the device, profile data." and their response was "We made changes that were required by play services and advertising network". I find that a bit hard to believe.
Edit: Having said that I just came across this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/playpermissionsexposed-fix-play-store-t2783076. You'll need to be rooted and have xposed framework installed though.

Google calendar settings and date reading

So I'm sure this is a known issue but every time I restart my phone the Calendar settings reset. I have the week starting on Monday but it always goes to Locale default (which is Sunday) and also adds a default reminder of 15 minutes which I don't need. Any solution to fix that? Is there a way to manually change the system Locale default calendar day? I can deal with the reminder I guess but the week day throws me off every time.
Also when I had my iPhone in the email/Gmail app whenever I got an email with a date/time it would highlight it and let me add it to the calendar. Sadly I haven't seen this option here. On mobile anyway. Any mod that could fix that? I get my schedule emailed and it's a pain to add manually cuz I sometimes mess it up :/

The Reminder app

Hello everyone. Does anyone use the reminder application? I use to put my reminders by location type when arriving at a certain location he warned. But I think since the last update last week I no longer work by location. I've tried in several different places. I have already deleted the application data but you are not telling me when I get to the indicated site. Any help or anyone with the same problem? Thank you
I've been using it for when I get to work and it triggers as I park.

yes i also have the same problem,
I've never been able to get location to work on my T-Mobile Galaxy S8.
I just set it up yesterday for the first time and it's not working.
So... I find this interesting. I will set a reminder for home and as I drive past my backyard the reminder triggers (I back onto a berm). When I set a location it accesses google maps so I have home and work designated in Maps so I don't have to keep adding addresses. I really like reminders because I always know where they are and they have a manual clear which I can't find easily in google Reminders.
Edited to add - so you can only use "here", home and work apparently. Definitely not as robust as Google.

Can you guys post that app? It would be very usefull for us, who don't own the s8!
Thanks!

Automating Initial Setup?

So long story short, I've always wondered if it's possible to make some sort of batch file to automatically setup some specific settings when clean installing different ROMs.
I'd like to set up the Google account, wifi/bluetooth history, and adjust account sync settings. Any resources or keywords I should look into to accomplish this?

Android Pie (and Oreo too I believe) has built-in automatic back up and restore function.
It backs up your messages, WiFi passwords and most of the settings.
You just have to input your email and password (security reasons)
There is an app for the similar purpose too.
