Hello,
try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23565074&postcount=7
Prepare your phone for rooting:
1) Dial: *#*#2846579#*#*
2) Go to projectmenu > background settings > log settings > log switch > set Log on
3) Reboot Phone
4) Switch USB Debugging ON
5) Download B528_ROOT.rar (not SuperOneClick v2.3.3).
6) Plug your U8800 into your computer but DO NOT mount SD Card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728
For Linux users
7) Extract B528_ROOT.rar and open the file "B528_root.bat" with an editor.
8) Open a terminal as normal user and change into the directory with the file "B528_root.bat".
9) Copy the following commands step by step into the terminal.

So currently I have FirefoxOS, Android, and Ubuntu Touch installed in MultiRom. Before I followed this guide: http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-triple-boot-nexus-4-on-android-firefox-os-ubuntu-touch/
But now that 14.10 is released I want to install that instead of 13.10, but now the daily builds are all image files instead of zips, is it still possible to install Ubuntu Touch through MultiRom? if so how?
Saucy Salamander:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch-preview/daily-preinstalled/current/
Utopic Unicorn:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch/daily-preinstalled/current/
To clarify I want to install Ubuntu 14.10 using this method:
Download the system image flash-able zip (trusty-preinstalled-touch-armhf.zip) & device specific flash-able zip (trusty-preinstalled-touch-armel+mako.zip) from here.
Connect your device to the PC and transfer the trusty-preinstalled-touch-armhf.zip & trusty-preinstalled-touch-armel+mako.zip to the device’s storage.
Open a new cmd window and type in the following command to boot your device in recovery mode:
adb reboot recovery
Tap on Advanced > MultiROM > Add ROM
Set Choose ROM type to Ubuntu Touch
Set Share kernel with Internal ROM to Don’t share
Now tap on Next > ZIP file. Select trusty-preinstalled-touch-armhf.zip and start the flashing process.
Once done, again tap on Advanced > MultiROM > List ROMs
Tap on trusty-preinstalled-touch > trusty-preinstalled-touch-armel+mako.zip and start the flashing process.
Once the process is complete, tap on Reboot System
By popular requests, here is my everyday orthodox cleaning procedure, prior flashing any rom:
Prerequisites:
- rooted device
Benefits: Your phone will feel like new.....
1) Resizing partitions:
- Flashing all these roms, sometimes cause resizing your system partitions and you wont even know it....... please do the following: Shut down phone (completely). Boot to recovery > wipe > advanced wipe > select system > click repair or change file system (bottom) > resize file system > swipe to resize (bottom)
Notes:
- If you get errors resizing these partitions (red), just reboot and repeat this procedure again, until no error shows up.
- You will do this resizing to three partitions (system, data and cache).
2) Delete everything in root:
- Boot to recovery (again) > click mount > mount or check all partitions > click home or back > click in advanced > file manager > in root "/" click check mark (bottom right) > click delete > swipe to delete all in "/ "(root) ...... (This procedure will wipe your internal / external storage)
Notes:
- This procedure will delete all extra files and junk files on your partitions....... don’t worry the important partition's files are read only. So, after reboot everything will be fine.
- This procedure can cause freeze , vibrate or show some errors (in red). This is normal. don't worry. Just hold up + power (buttons) together, until you hear two vibrations. Phone will shut down or reboot.
- This procedure will wipe your internal storage
3) Boot to recovery and flash your new rom.
4) Profit!!
Enjoy your like new phone

Right click on android_winusb.inf and select Install. Confirm with OK.
Restart Windows.
3) BACKUP YOUR DATA
Make sure Google/provider account is synchronized.
Backup photos, documents, contacts before going any further (ex: use the backupyourmobile app).
Connect phone to PC, search for all .jpg, .mp3, .mp4 files on your phone and retrieve data.
4) ENABLE USB DEBUGGING

Then go to Settings > Additional Settings (System & Device section) > Developer options.
Switch USB debugging ON > Confirm with OK.
Connect phone to PC and Confirm USB debugging from phone.
5) FLASH TWRP RECOVERY
Install and Launch XiaMiTool V2.
Agree to terms.
Choose "My device works normally. I want to mod it"
Select the recognized phone.
Click on Mods, root and twrp > TWRP recovery - twrp-3.6.2_9-0-aries.img > Continue
### If restart to fastboot doesn't work. Shutdown phone. Hold Power + Volume- and release buttons to reveal Fastboot mode.
Phone will boot automatically to TWRP.
6) BACKUP SYSTEM
Now go to Home screen > Backup.
Select System, Data and Boot.
Swipe to Backup and wait during Backup.
Back to Home > Mount.
Using Windows Explorer, access Aries device and copy the TWRP folder from Internal Storage folder to somewhere safe.
7) REPARTITION
System partition cannot contain Android 11 + GApps.
Moreover, Android 11 doesn't know how to use Mi 2's partition layout.
Here we go.
Xiaomi are tough phones like Samsungs. Don't be scared.
Still in Mount > uncheck all partitions to unmount these.
Now open Windows command in my /flash folder (while in flash folder, type cmd in Windows address bar and hit Enter)
Enter command:
Code:
adb devices
Command returns Recovery XXXXXXX
### If not, check driver installation.
We send parted on phone.
Enter command:
Code:
adb push parted /tmp/
then
Code:
adb shell
In shell, commands start with #
Enter:
Code:
chmod 755 /tmp/parted
then
Code:
/tmp/parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
(We mount internal memory with parted)
In parted, commands start with (parted)
Enter:
Code:
unit s
Code:
print
Here is your partition layout

Show new partition layout with fdisk (slightly different):
Code:
fdisk -l /dev/block/mmcblk0
(You can still do the same with parted: /tmp/parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 > unit s > print)
Now system (part 21) is ~1400M, cache 384M, userdata ~20G and storage a few M.
Code:
exit
Disconnect phone.
8) FLASH AOSP 11
Go to Mount > check Data partition and connect phone.
From Windows: copy ROM + GApps (+ Magisk, optional) to the same phone's Internal Storage folder.
Back to TWRP: go to Install > aosp-11*.zip
Then go to Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Resize File System > Swipe to Resize.
Go to Reboot > recovery
Baxk to recovery, go to Install > flash bitgapps*.zip.
9 ) DEVELOPER MENU
Open Settings menu > About Phone.
Tap on the "Build number" entry seven times. You should be notified, that the developer settings are now active.
Now go to Settings menu > System > Advanced Developer settings.
Scroll down and change transition and animation scales to x 0,5 for smoother animations.
You can install GBoard or Swiftkey to change the keyboard.
That's it.
Enjoy,
djibe

Or just use partition unified by M1cha script here https://github.com/M1cha/aries-image-builder
Installation:
Backup all your data(including internal sdcard, and EFS just to be safe)
if you don't use the custom Bootloader yet, flash this package using flash_core.bat/sh first. See the big red warning above for more information
flash the package using flash_partition_table_and_core.bat/sh
boot into recovery(which is TWRP now), recreate the filesystems for all partitions(system, data, cache, sdcard to ext4) in the wipe menu and reinstall your ROM.

Well, why ext2 for system ?
You have exact same partition layout as me.
You should delete and recreate those partitions:
21 655360s 2752511s 2097152s ext4 system
22 2752512s 3538943s 786432s ext4 cache

24 10878976s 61071326s 50192351s ext4 storage
Good point, i didn't notice that ext2.
EDIT :
This is weird, even if I use the ext4 format on the system, after installing the ROM it will print on as ext2.

Just flash flash_partition_table_and_core.bat with MiFlash Tool or flash_partition_table_and_core.sh on Linux
And yes is a suitable system partition size.
Hi guys,
So good to see that someone still have this good old device! If you are interested @GuaiYiHU has also published an Android 11 rom for our device on his github : https://github.com/tiger-cave/local_manifests/releases/tag/android-11.0.0_r43
Who knows, maybe he will also do the magic with 12

So, I use my mi2 only for these experiments now but it boots without problems. I have of course resized the system partition to install gapps. GPS is not working since years, most probably it's a matter of hw failure. FM radio and camera works just fine even if quality has decreased drastically in the last years. Haven't tried mobile signal as I don't have a sim installed but WiFi works ok. Hope it helps. All the credits to @GuaiYiHU that has done a super job.
I tried to revive my Mi 2S, followed the steps, but I'm stuck on boot screen. After 1 hour still no movement, so that's not OK
I tried to flash the latest stock rom, but this did not help either, the device starts up in fastboot.
Any advice?
