HTC One (M9) ReadMe Thread
Q4: Which versions of TWRP and SuperSU are the recommended ones?
A: The answer depends on your current firmware version. If you're using firmware 4.x then you'll find your answer here in the FAQ of the TWRP thread. (Click here, if you can't find SuperSU 2.79 SR3.) For firmware 1.x and 2.x the recommended versions are Captain_Throwback's Beta 1 of TWRP 2.8.7.1 and SuperSU 2.49. For firmware 3.x the recommended versions are TWRP 3.1.1-0 (official) and SuperSU 2.65. Using different versions than the recommended ones will probably lead to a bootloop. The M9 isn't compatible with the ramdisk changes that get executed by many flashable system-less SuperSU versions. However, updating the SuperSU app and its binaries via the Play Store after flashing one of the older versions is safe.
Q5: Are there alternative methods for gaining root?
A: Yes, you can use Magisk if you're using firmware 4.x. (Maybe a user with a lower firmware version can test whether Magisk is usable on firmware 1.x to 3.x, as well?)

First of all i am sorry for the previous post.
In my previous post, it was my 1st time i posted anything.I dont know the rules. But now i had got all the rules etc. In previous post i also used some useless terms such as "custom recovery" but in this post everything is ok.
Previous post was closed by moder because i used adf for some earning
But in this the downloads are on direct androidfilehost.com
You can match the md5 in the twrp zip of recovery.img with the md5 of of twrp 3.0.2 at thier website for verification
And try before saying anything
If it will be spam than report about my post

You're posting links to outdated versions of both TWRP and SuperSU. The latest versions and guides on how to install them already exist in their official threads.
If you want to be a help, try your hand at questions people are actually asking instead. XDA can always use another helpful expert.

I'm sorry if I've offended you - that wasn't my intention. However, you are mistaken about me lying or misguiding others.
Go check out the official TWRP thread. The latest version is posted there - it's version 3.0.3-0.
Check out the official SuperSU thread. The latest version is posted there - it's version 2.79 SR1 (2016-12-22).
Both of these versions, by the way, are important because they address issues that are unique to the M9. Previous versions of TWRP couldn't decrypt HTC's stock encryption. Recent versions of SuperSU couldn't be flashed directly. I'm sure there are other general fixes included as well.
You've got a neat idea, and I commend you for it. But if you're not working with the latest software - and passing it off as the latest - you're adding to people's confusion rather than helping them.

I am also sorry if i used some rude words
Still i had checked recently on twrp.me and there's only 3.0.2 for m9 and i am using it right now with supersu 2.79
I am not facing any problem at all in all matters and it is also much stable
You can still update according to your need as you can open up my provided zip and add recovery.img of your choice and also you can flash supersu of your choice
@ahmad.abbas54: What @computerslayer said is correct. There are numerous reports of users facing a bootloop after flashing any other SuperSU version than 2.64 (stable), 2.65 (stable) or the latest beta 2.79 SR1 (link to its thread) on their stock rom. However, flashing one of these three and updating SuperSU via the play store doesn't cause any problems. Therefore I'd ask you for not linking the stable version 2.79.
In regard to TWRP: 3.0.2-0 is working fine. However, it's not the recommended version since 3.0.3-0 (unofficial) is capable of installing HTC's official OTAs.

SuperSU changes parts of the ramdisk since the introduction of system-less root. However, the changes that get initiated by any other than the three versions I mentioned above are not compatible with the M9 and cause a bootloop. Updating via the play store only updates the app and its binaries but not the ramdisk changes. This way you could update to a newer version of supersu (before 2.79 sr1 got released) without facing a bootloop.
There are stable and beta releases of SuperSU. Both are different stages of a "software release cycle". (The " " mark the keyword you need to google for further information. At the moment I don't have the time for writing a more detailed post. Sorry.)
You linked the stable version of 2.79. The beta which is safe to use got released a week later than the version in your post and it contains "sr1" in its naming.
Edit: Oh and please don't re-upload files to your afh account that you don't own (e.g. SuperSU) unless you got the permission of the dedicated owner/dev. Your 0PJAIMG.zip should be fine as long as you mention TWRP's devs in the credits of your OP.

Well, no one ever posted explicit instructions but it should be known to be possible from Sneakyghost's firmware thread. His firmware packs can get flashed via the SD card method, as well, and your archive is somehow similar to his no wipe packs. The difference is that your archive only contains TWRP whereas his packs contain almost the full stock firmware and TWRP instead of the stock recovery.
Nevertheless, step by step instructions like to ones in this thread are always nice to have.
(Although strictly speaking a PC is needed for your method, too, since you can't achieve S-OFF via Sunshine* without root on the M9 and for rooting the M9 the first time you need to unlock the bootloader which requires a PC. However, don't mind my nitpicking. )
* I have not much knowledge about how to use java cards for the same purpose but I think you need a PC for them, as well.

Well thats for obvious that we need pc for atleast bootloader unlock
I'm trying this method to flash TWRP on my unlocked, S-Off m9. (Unlocked with SunShine, my Mac with new USB-C port doesn't see device over ADB) I've unzipped your TWRP package, replaced the old TWRP with the latest--renamed "recovery.img"--and re-zipped it. When I boot phone into Download mode, the script recognizes the zip package, and "start ui-update" appears at the top of the screen. Nothing else happens, and if I eventually force power off, the stock Recovery is still installed. Suggestions?
Do S-OFF AND UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER not need a computer ؟؟؟؟؟؟

HOW TO ROOT YOUR XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 4X MTK aka NIKEL
DISCLAIMER:
There might be more than 1 way to root this phone, this tutorial is based off of the procedure I used to root my phone. For your device's safety do not mix resources (downloads) from other threads with this thread. I first rooted when my phone was on MIUI 8.2 and Android 6.0.1 (It still works on higher versions of the software). Before continuing with the procedure, you are responsible for your phone and what you do to it, this thread worked for me but doesn't necessarily mean it will work for you as well if you don't follow the steps correctly or use different files. Nonetheless, I take no responsibility for what happens to your phone if anything goes wrong.
Requirements:Unlocked Bootloader (Click here for the procedure)
Custom Recovery "TWRP" (Click here to download)
ABD Drivers (Click here to download)
SuperSU (Click here to download)
(Download the latest .zip file called "Recovery Flashable" NOT any APK's)
Procedure:
1) Unlock your Bootloader (skip if already unlocked)
2) Download all the required files
3) Install the ADB Drivers
4) Move the downloaded SuperSU zip file to your phone's SD CARD or internal memory
5) Open the .bat file inside the NIKEL FLASHKIT folder
- Οnce the batch opens select the first option (FLASH ZCX-TWRP 3.0.2-X FOR Redmi Note 4 MTK)
6) Enable USB Debugging
- Enable developer options by clicking couple of times on the MIUI Version (Settings > About Phone)
- After you've enabled the developer options, go to additional settings and find "developer options"
- Enable USB Debugging
7) Connect your phone to your PC
8) Follow the instructions being printed on the NIKEL FLASHKIT batch file you've previously opened
9) After your phone has entered TWRP go to Install and find the .zip of SuperSU
10) Select the file then swipe to install and reboot, DONE!

Flash the custom recovery (*.img) through fastboot command. For RN4 MTK there's limited custom recovery available, but you may consider trying Cofface TWRP or ZCX TWRP. After that you can install SuperSU or Magisk from custom recovery. There are plenty tutorials of flashing custom recovery and rooting device using TWRP in RN4 MTK device, search this forum or Google.

Yes, sometimes it works with the first try, other times you have to manually enter fast boot, and other you may need to reconnect your USB while in the process. It can be tricky at some point but it eventually works out
i tried few times and it is just not working for me. i dunno what n how... i unlocked bootloader from mi site. and nothing i try seems to work for me.

Here my device nougat stock recovery (or at page 4 device review)
With my device at the moment TWRP seems to work only on Marshmallow. It would be nice if someone like to share an updated recovery
BTW
It took me a few retries to check extracting recoveries requiers 3 or 4 times press enter instead of just a singel press any key

I explain just my situation, the subject of my post is well on the port of TWRP for processor MT6797M and not on elephone s7. I must speak well of the phone to explain the problem correctly.
Ps : y test this tuto : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32965365#post32965365
but y don't find the file BoardConfig.mk
Pretty much same here!
i took a look to default.prop it use a string:
ro.build.version.sdk=24 (stock v14 recovery)
ro.build.version.sdk=23 ( twrp recovery)
even more that needs to be updated in default.prop file from old TWRP to enable it on API24 i.g.
ro.build.fingerprint (seems to be a littel more work)
i stopped repacking TWRP since i note bad image maybe brick my phone.
Also someone told me marshmallow uses ID_creation code = MOB30J; Nougat uses ID_creation code = NHG47N .... idk
funny i removed a additioinal password request. Another user now got additional :highfive: and idk how it occur

ok I understand, I want to try to do it myself, can you make a port of MTK 6797M ?
( this is what I needed at the start, I came on this thread to do the twrp myself.
thank you in advance
As already written it is not that easy to use if some errors occur. Also i did not 100% on it which files i have to remove if tool say "delete following":
1. kernel (is it x.img-zImage?)
2. kernel offset (i guess i found)
and that flase "press ANY key" message! Just as a little sidenote for your update.
Hey, I am not sure is this right place but I am gona ask still:laugh: I try install custom rom to p5110 tablet and installed twrp 2.8.5. Now I go to twrp wipe stuff then go to install and found rom zip but when I click it, its just opens that zip file and shows more zip files. All tutorials I have watch when you click that zip it should show install page and then swipe to install it. Any help to solve this problem?

So before installing the ROM, I guess you first root the device and then installed TWRP? Some good instructions to do that?
I've come across 3 versions of TWRP that all seem plausible but that I do not necessirily trust/understand:
a) espresso-common-TWRP
b) P5110-TWRP
c) twrp-3.1.1-0-p5110.img
What I don't understand is that if the TeamWin is not supporting TWRP on this device anymore and stopped at version 3.1.1, how is it that these ANDROID-ANDY has more recent versions? And what is the espresso-common version? How does it differ from the P5110-TWRP version?

TWRP source is open, if you have the ability you can compile newer versions.

espresso-common is unified, it works on P3100, P3110, P3113, P5100, P5110 and P5113 without the need for a device specific TWRP. It makes maintaining TWRP easier for our Tab.
At boot the kernel of the recovery is reading a value from your your LCD to decide which drivers need to be loaded on your variant.
Hello all !
I followed this tutorial on how to root my Galaxy S10+ : https://www.thecustomdroid.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-root-guide/ but there are 2 problem:
1st: At the Step6, the file name isn't exactly magisk_patched.tar but magisk_patched-25200_xLm0q.tar. Is this a problem ?
2nd: at Step 10, when I want to exit the Download Mode (Volume Down and Power button for over 7s), the phone get in a boot-loop (which I found online that it means the phone can't find a proper OS to boot on)
How can I know what I'm doing wrong ? I have a doubt on the stock firmware I found on Frija:
my phone is a G975F-DS and there is no "G975F-DS" but only "G975F"
I can't use Phone Info Sam because the link is broken/the app doesn't exist anymore ? When I type *#1234# the CSC code is G975FOXMGHWA3. I searched OXM but couldn't find anything on Frija so I search and I've read that OXM is not the correct CSC Code so I went to Software INFO and in the Service provider software version it's written ...SM-G975F_OXM_XSP... so I chose the XSP firmware and did the root with it until the phone boot-looped.
My service provider now in KT in Korea, does it make a difference ?
Thank you for reading me
Edit: I found Phone INFO ★SAM★ 3.8.5 By vndnguyen on APK Mirror and it says " Firmare's CSC Code: XEF" and "Active CSC Codes: XSP". Which one is correct ?
Reflash the stock firmware, then flash TWRP and flash Magisk in TWRP.
First Flash Offical firmware (BL,AP,CP,CSC)
Then Patch AP file by magisk

The firmware must be flashed first
Then you make a patch from the AP file
The baseband of the device must be identical to the firmware from which the root file is made

Patching the AP.tar doesn't always work.
@Constantine1711 just flash the original firmware in Odin, then follow the guide in the TWRP thread for this device to install TWRP. Once you have TWRP installed, flash Magisk in TWRP. No need to rename it to .zip, just install it like you would any other zip

NEVER download Magisk from anywhere but the official Magisk repo. That is the ONLY trustworthy source; any other source is not affiliated with the project and may be malware.

The risk is malware, like a virus. If you've had questionable apps with root access, I would absolutely recommend you perform a clean factory flash.

Is it possible to check if an apk is different from the github one ? Like a code checker or something. I'm so tired of reseting my phone it's been a week I try to root it ...
Otherwise, maybe I'll try with an other tutorial.

Is this one a good one ?
Is it just me getting older or rooting a device got much more complicated than before ? (I use to root PSP/playstation2 and 3 in the past)
I missed having full control of my device so I thought to root my phone but it's seems so complicated for so little reward
Edit: I tried to follow the official Magisk tutorial but I failed so I'm just gonna stop trying here. Sorry for wasting your time guys !
