Wifi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every few minutes while phone is locked - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

after some minutes my galaxy s8 is in sleep mode, wifi connection turns off and reconnects when I wake the screen. I can still receive notification, but with some delay. I've already set the "keep wifi on during sleep" to always. The strange thing here is if I set that option to "never" the phone shows the same behaviour as it was set to "always".
Update: this user here has my same problem, thought mine reconnects every few minutes while locked and doesn't stay off: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/67bji7/s8_plus_keeps_disconnecting_from_wifi_when_locked

wifi always stays on (even on sleep mode)

I just got my new HTC magic from vodaphone and I notice that whenever I'm home, wifi stays on. Even if the screen is turned off (in what I suppose is sleep mode), it is still on.
How do I know? the router shows the thing as "still alive", i can ping it from any other computer, and the router is not logging intermittent "associated/de-associated" messages for the MAC address of my phone.
obviously this takes a toll on my battery..
is something wrong with my phone, or is there some configuration I dont know about?
update: I found that "wifi sleep policy" settings, it was set to always on. changed to to turn wifi off when asleep. it STILL always stays on
Experiencing the same issue on Nexus one... running FRF83
Seems to be fixed on FRF85B

wifi keep on disconnected after few minutes

my wifi connection always drops after few minutes and then it tries to authenticate again. this happens when i left the phone idle for <3 mins or so and sometimes less. when it tries to aunthenticates back, it takes a longer time than just simply turning off and turning on the wifi back again to get connected.
is this an error or its just the way the phone is? i'd like to keep my wifi connected during some heavy downloads and be able to leave the phone lying somewhere while its downloading..
explainations and help needed..
you not using any power manager apps that turn of the wireless after the screen switches off when left idle ?
And what about wifi sleep policy? But there is problem for me too. I turn it off, but when i disable wifi, and turn it on again, wifi sleep policy settings are again at 15minutes.

i'm using Advanced task killer and Android booster on my phone to kill running apps. however, i did not used them to manage my power consumption. i have not done any settings regarding wifi connectivity on both those apps. But could both these apps be responsible?

my wifi sleep policy setting is set to Never by default. Could it be my router whose causing this issue?

Found Small Problem After 3.2 Update

I always have had my tab set to turn off wifi when screen goes off,
and it has performed flawlessly.
Now - after the 3.2 update - When the screen goes blank,
the wifi does not turn off and it stays connected.
Does anyone else have this problem ? is there a fix ?
My issue is the tablet is set to turn wifi off when screen turns off.
Always worked perfectly.
Now after 3.2 when you wake it the wifi does not turn on, says out of range.
You have to click wifi on/off to reconnect.
Fix one thing and break another.
Stock tablet.
confirmed.
My tab is also set to turn off wifi when screen is off.
Same deal, it does not reconnect. Sometimes it does reconnect but he status bar says no internet connection.
Had the same problem after updating to KMM and now again with the new KMM (KMN).
But since wifi standby consumes almost no battery, I just leave wifi on "always on" (network notification switched off). It's only a workaround but with no real drawbacks.
I'm on Task 6.1 rom and its all good no wifi issues.
Question? How do u know if it turns off or not.
network scan
Same problem here.
After I turn on my tab, it does not reconnect immediately. Have to wait 1-2 minutes, then it reconnected.
Faster is to manually turn wifi off and on again.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Same here. Just upgraded the other day, have to leave wifi on or manually switch it off and on. Nice update samsung
Yep. Same issue here. I'm thinking of leaving wifi on all the time and checking the difference in battery life.
3.2 has had issues with wifi since day one. Use one of the custom rom, I use Task 6.1 and the problem went away. You can always revert to 3.1

Wifi Initially Unresponsive on Wake

So, after no problems for 3 months, my stock AT&T S4 has suddenly started with some odd behavior where wifi is unresponsive for 30 to 60 seconds immediately after every time I wake it up. Then wifi works normally.
The wifi connection icon stays on during this, and I see it trying to upload and download.
When the phone is asleep, it syncs appropriately over Wifi and I get all of my notifications.
This happens on all wifi connections. 3G/4G is unaffected.
I have wifi sleep disabled in the wifi Advanced menu.
Any guesses as to what might be causing this?

Serious wifi issues!

Hey everyone, I've been looking for a solution for this problem since I got the phone and I can't find an answer anywhere. When I am connected to my WiFi at home, and I turn the screen off, about 30 seconds later my wifi and data shut off. I have "keep wifi on when screen is off" set to on. I disabled switch to network with weak WiFi signal. I have factory reset my phone about 5 times and did a warranty clam.
Mine does the same. It just has a very poor wifi antenna I guess.
my LG-V20 does this same thing sometimes its very frustrating.
Settings>battery and power saving>scroll down to "wifi" and move the switch to the right (turn on ignore savings settings) This will tell Android to ignore power saving on wifi and let it operate normally.
