Hello, today is a sad day for me :crying: . In the morning, I started loading my pro 3 x727, and 30 minutes later I see that it is not charging, I unplug it and I see that the USB-C cable is burned, I smell smoke in the usb port ... after that, try the headphones and do not recognize them. Try another USB-C cable and no load, just reheat the cable. It seems that it is only the charging port, since the speaker and the microphone work perfectly. I turned off the phone on 50% of charge so that when i repair it is no dead. In my opinion, the loading port is damaged, and I plan to change the USB-C load module (Board) ... I searched in the Internet for the replacement, but it only appears for the le pro 3 x720. My question is if I can use that module in my pro 3 x727? Please, help me, I'm from Nicaragua. I can not return the phone and I need to repair it, I only used it for a month!
Did you use the included (Stock) USB-C cable and charger?
Yes, everything was fine using the cable and the original charger for 1 month. As I have read in several forums, the USB-C cable is of bad quality and some catch fire. But yesterday the cable and the usb port of the smartphone have burned ! : c
Yep, I can't help you finding the part (maybe you can find it in AliExpress?) But I recommend you to ditch that charger and cable and buy an Benson approved cable with an charger of recognized brand as Aukey or Anker for example or it will burn your next USB-C port.
I searched in the Internet for the replacement, but it only appears in aliexpress for the le pro 3 x720. My question is if I can use that module in my pro 3 x727? The hardware of the x720 is the same as the x727?
Yes it's the same. Just know that the Aliexpress charging port replacements don't support Quick Charging.
I found in Aliexpress the replacement module of the charging port + Mic, but it has differences in the board, some IC's are missing.. I attach photos of the differences: Front

... What affects in the phone? Or can I change only the usb-c port ??
Sorry to hear that your phone was damaged. So what caused the damage? The included charger or the included cable (or both?) If I use the included charger with an Anker cable, would that still damage the port? Thanks.
I was using the charger and the stock cable and one day while charging the cable was burned (burning the port of the phone) According to read some reviews in Amazon is the charger that burns the usb-C cables!

Thanks! I should start shopping for a new charger!
The charger should not have any problem since it is certified by Qualcomm. But I have no idea about the cable quality. Maybe some of the original cables are defected!
Also as far as I know the charging port and board of x720 and x727 are all the same.

This recently happened to me using the stock cable and an Aukey Qualcomm 2.0 Quick Charger. The stock cable is blistered on the USB-C end. Mine still slow chargers. It won't fast charge, the earbuds aren't recognized, data transfer won't work, and a USB-C to USB female adapter for reading USB flash drives no longer works. I bought a new cable hoping that would fix the problem but it didn't help.
Did you fix your phone? If so, are you able to fast charge? Does everything else work now? Did you replace the USB-C port, or the whole USB charging board? Did you use x720 parts? Where did you get parts? Please let us know because there are bound to be other people who will experience this problem.

I wish I could help, but my phone is still crippled. I ordered a USB-C charging port (not the charging board) with hopes that will fix it, but I haven't worked up the courage to tear the phone apart and solder it in yet.
If you find parts that restore the phone to full capabilities, please let me know.

as they are easier to wiggle into any dashboard gaps you might have. They are pretty readily available on eBay, but note that they tend to have pretty low guage wire and aren't configured as twisted pairs so it is pretty hit and miss using it to transmit data but it seems to have no problem transmitting DC current. I have used this for very long trips using devices that pull about 1A of current and the cable doesn't warm up so I presume the resistance must be low enough for charging purposes.
Simply connect the other end to a USB Car Charger and you are nearly ready to go. Connecting it up this way will trigger charging but I suspect the device assumes it is connected to a PC as it turns the screen on when you connect it this way as apposed to the Wall Charger where the screen remains off. Careful using USB Chargers designed for other devices (Ipod etc) as they have configurations which may confuse / damage your device. I found this out the hard way when I connected my Jade to an Ipod USB Car Charger which caused all sorts of grief with an undetectable microSD card, the device refusing to turn off which although is now resolved, I am still uncertain whether I haven't caused some damage
So how do you convince the Jade to charge from your Car Charger like a Wall Charger? Well first thing to be aware of is that devices that implement USB charging have various methods of detecting a connection to a Wall Charger as apposed to a computer. As I have mentioned, the iPod (and my old iPaq) uses a resistor configuration between the Ground, 5V and Data Pins to tell the device that it is connected. Fortunately the Jade is much simpler. I have determined from searching the web plus attacking my Wall Charger with a multimeter that all that is required is that the Data Pins are bridged and that the Metal Socket Surround is connected to the Ground Pin (which it is anyway in most Generic Chargers). All that was involved in mine was opening the Charger, finding the middle data pins on the circuit board and dropping a solder bridge between them. Make sure you buy a good quality USB Car Charger that is easy to dismantle (mine was held together by screws) and can provide at least 1A.
Enjoy
My previous phone was a palm treo pro (htc panther), for which i bought a sprint car charger (micro usb). The first charger that was sent to me was heavily used, so i complained and got a new one. After i returned my treo, i got the jade and decided to sell the new charger and modify the old one (which was working fine, except the connector didnt connect properly) to charge the jade. So i opened it up and soldered the two (+ & -) wires to an old usb extension cable, so that now i have a car plug with and usb(-a) socket slightly standing out. When i connect my mini-usb cable for the jade only the charging led lights up.
What did you do with Data Wires? If you joined them together then you have achieved the same outcome as a solder bridge.
Nothing, i just cut them as short as i could. They dont connect to each other...the outer ground isnt connected, too...
Has anybody else had issues with the micro USB port? Mine seems very worn. When plugged in the cable seems very loose. Any tap and the cable disconnects. Has anybody had a similar experience?
Yeah, mine looked to be bent somehow and I took a small jewelry screwdriver to bend the upper metal enclosure back down almost a month ago. It has worked great ever since. The upper (screen side) part of the port was hooked on the metal casing and couldn't release to hold in any micro USB cords. Again, a small jewelry screwdriver worked for me. Hope this helps!
Mine has had this issue for weeks now. I can't get it to work most of the time. I have to wiggle the cable to get it to charge aNd it stops if I move the phone. Nothing fixes it. I think they are just not up for the test of time. My phone now stops charging in the middle of the night if the cable moves and I wake up to 50% charge.
How many cables do you use with it? It might be that the 2 little barbs on the micro USB plug are worn, rather than the port.

Stock charger at home. Car charger and work charger. All three same issue.
And yeah the dock is a good solution to try.

Thanks for the input but a dock isn't always convenient. I need to be able to charge the phone reliably in the car, at work, and at home.
I'll try bending the enclosure like the first responder recommended.
I had this problem but I was under warranty

This seems to be an (eventual) problem with just about any device with a small USB-type connector, though the micro-USB connections seem to hold up a bit better than the older mini-USB connections. I've seen similar issues with harddrives, optical drives, MP3 players, and other phones. You can sometimes "fix" the connection by bending bits back into place, but the best thing you can do is just to be extra careful with these delicate interfaces to help prevent the problem in the first place.

That's what I was thinking as well. Two of my cables are worn, but my port is fine. Unfortunate to hear that it wasn't the case for 3bs.
I had similar issues until it stopped working all together. It was under warranty though so sent it back to Vodafone, who then sent it to HTC. I am told it will be back tomorrow.
It was bootloader unlocked and rooted too.

lol
I had the same issue with my Desire. One simple solution is to squeeze the connector, so that the little "hole" gets tighter. This worked perfectly for me.
Does anyone else's charger keep dying/burning out/burning up? I've had my TF since July and after 5 weeks it decided it didn't want to charge anymore, so I sent it to the Asus repair center in Houston, Texas and it came back three weeks later and everything was fine.
I just got my dock two days ago and pretty much had the tablet connected to the dock and the charger connected to the dock for almost all the time I was using it since it was taking forever to charge both batteries. By the end of the first night the tablet was completely charged and the dock went from about 4% to 80% during the whole time I had it charged (but I was using it at 1.4GHz with the screen brightness all the way up). While it was charging the power brick (the actual transformer lol) was getting really hot, almost too hot to touch, but I know those normally get hot when they charge stuff so I didn't think anything of it.
I tried to finish charging it yesterday and noticed that it stopped charging (again). I checked my AC power cables and everything was connected, I re-seated the usb end into the adapter, rebooted the tablet and tried connecting the charger to both the tablet and the dock. Neither would charge. I also tried the adapter in different outlets too. I'm not going to send it back to Asus this time since AFAIK there's nothing wrong with the tablet or the dock itself, I'm just going to shell out $40 and get one off of ebay. If that doesn't fix the issue then I'll send it back because I don't want to be without it again for three weeks.
Has anyone else had this happen to them more than once?
Funny you post this. Mine stopped charging last night. I know the cable is good because I can hook it to my computer and transfer data. However plugged into the actual power transformer, it will not charge. Tried many different outlets and did my best to make sure it was not damaged.
I think we need to find a good way to charge it from USB 3.0 ports on the PC by buying a PCI card or whatever, and keep the power brick for traveling
They seem very feeble
I still have my first one but it stinks of burned electricals
It's bull**** that they don't sell the chargers separately and there aren't any third-party chargers available. I think I'm going to try the charge from PC mod for my normal charging duties since my PC is always on and my PSU is 850w.
Why can't we just directly charge from a USB 3.0 port (or two of them for that matter with a y-cable like they do for portable HDDs)? I may have to rig something up with the help of my father who's an electrician

The USB 3.0 port on a pc will not charge unless you want to leave it overnight turned off. The power connector/connector on the TF is a physical USB 3.0 connector, BUT not an electrical 3.0 connector.
If it's not an electrical connector (odd thing to call it since these run off electricity no matter how you spin it, but I know what you mean ) then how does it get charged using the power brick? Are there leads in the cable that are specifically for power and not for transmitting data (meaning they don't connect to anything in a USB3 port on your PC)?
I was able to fix mine by throwing my power brick into the freezer for about a half hour or so. I followed this thread.

I was about 1 click away from buying a universal Dynex one that is on amazon and then read around, so far so good. Hope it works for you.
I just made my own PC charger and so far so good, I didn't even have to buy anything!

Both usb 2.0 and 3.0 have one 5v power and gnd line with limited current capability. 2.0 has one pair of data lines. 3.0 has two pair of data lines. The TF power cord is essentially a 3.0 cable with coductor # 7 ( part of a data pair in 3.0) used to sense a gnd signal from the tablet to tell the power brick to output 15V on the normal 5v line. If the brick does not see the gnd on pin7, the 5v line only outputs 5v. This is why a 2.0 usb extension will not work. There is no conductor 7. Best bet buy the dynex video camera adapter and set itt for 15v to the usb connector.
Hi,
I don't know if I'm posting in the right section, but here is the thing. I've got GeeksPhone Keon Developer Preview, It's a Firefox OS phone, but I've flashed an Android version on it. Everything worked great for about 6 months, and then the phone stopped charging, and it was also not detected by PC. When I plug it to a PC the phone does not detect it's plugged in also the PC does not detect the phone. I tried other microUSB cables and it's the same. I also tried flashing the Android again as I thought maybe it's software related but the problem still exists. Hopefully I installed recovery on it. I currently charge the battery externally, everything else works as expected.
Yesterday I decided to mess with the phone, as I don't have the warranty. I opened it up and checked if the phone actually has power when plugged to the charger. I noticed that the battery is powered so It is charging but the Android OS does not detect that, and decreases the battery via software. I think that the D+ or D- pins are broken, and I'm not sure if they are used for the phone to know if it's charging.
Here is the picture of the circuit board and my findings. Camera is not great so the picture is not that great also.

0. Is the microUSB port, and I guess there is a problem with it, maybe D+ or D- pins got broken.
1. Those are D+ and D- resistors they are good I've tested them.
2. Those are battery pins. When I probed them when micro USB is plugged in they have power.
3. It's some kind of a IC for power, I think it's used to switch power to the battery from microUSB.
I don't have that good soldering skills so I couldn't resolder the microUSB port, so I'm asking if someone knows another approach to enable the charging via software, as software does not detect that battery is charging, when actually power from microUSB comes to the battery, and because of that it decreases the battery status on Android.
So I'm thinking if I can execute some command so I can trick the phone to believe it's charging, so the battery will charge and when I plug it out I execute the second command to turn off fake charging?
Thanks in advance!
Funny that you have this problem, I just fixed mine today that had the same problem. Basically the micro usb port stopped working because the parts soldered on the motherboard were loose after too much wiggling (cheap mtk phone I guess). I tried resoldering but its just too small, I could not event test the connexions with a multimeter. So I went to one of the million of asian cell phone shops in indonesia where I'm actually travelling and paid 5$ for a guy to fix it. They do it all the time and have expert fingers. Not my phone plugs perfectly, try to find one near your place, wherever that is

What happens if you put a charge over those connections? It won't accept any? Or does it charge but the software isn't detecting it? Another way of fixing it would be making a separate charger for your battery only, of course that would mean that your phone is useless while charging. I'm pretty sure if you force a charge over it it will absorb it, but I wouldn't exactly know how you could check the battery status so that you don't overcharge it this way.
I Have a problem with my phone which is turning me crazy.
The battery wont charge while turned on, while turned off it is constantly starting up to show the battery load picture, then i shuts down again and the battery charging picture pops up again. This happens all the time. I cant do anything about it. It does not matter if i plug it into a wall or into my pc. Also its not the cable or the adapter. I really dont know what to do. So far, ive come to the conclusion, It does recognize that its charging whilest being off, so its not some thing that has to do with a hardware issue. It must be software. The only thing I have used is an app called rootbooster. It changes some settings in the root of the phone for longer battery and ever since i have this issue.
In Recovery it does not charge as well.
I have already flashed my rom again and reset the phone.
Anyone knows anything about this?
Barend
Probably not software. Sounds like your micro USB port on your phone. Give it a good blow, might be lint or dirt stuck in your port. Especially if you've returned it to stock and its doing this while powered off. That or your charging port has developed a fault.
It is 99% likely to be the usb socket......
I've had 5 Galaxy devices, all of them use the same type of port, and 3 out of the 5 have failed.....
IMO, the USB port design is pathetically fragile for the job Samsung intends it to do.......
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
If It would be the usb socket, wouldnt the phone not even recognize the usb plug? Because now, it does now when I plug in an usb cable. After a few blwos it still does not work.
The usb socket has a number of connectors/pins that are used in various combinations for specific tasks.....
Charging, connecting to a pc, otg etc......
It *could* be that the pins responsible for charging are the only pins affected.....it doesn't even need to be both pins....just one broken pin would be enough to affect charging, but would leave the other functionality intact....
I wouldn't advise poking into the socket with anything in an attempt to repair it, that'll probably just make things worse.

USB has red wire (Positive - VCC - Power - PIN 1 ) and black wire (negative - GND - Ground - PIN 4 ).
Along with it has White Wire (Data+, Communication with PC - sending signals to PC - PIN 2 ) and green wire (Data-, Communication With PC - return to smartphone - PIN 3 ).
So it is possible that the "red wire" in this case PIN 1 and PIN 4 of USB, that developed a fault.
Meaning that you have only PIN 2 and 3 not being fault.
If it has Warranty and with Stock Rom, take it to the samsung authorized repair and they will change the usb port.
^^agreed.....
Replacing the USB 'daughterboard' involves removing the screen from the frame......very tricky to do with the potential to cause further, more expensive damage.
If, during rooting and flashing, you have tripped knox, Samsung may well argue that you have invalidated any warranty you may have had....so be aware that the offer of a warranty repair *may* be denied to you......that is, if knox *is* tripped and they check for it....

But isnt it weird that whilst off, the phone does know when it is connected to USB?
And another question, My computer does not connect with the phone at all. No charging and not reading its USB. Isnt there a possibillty that because of some root mistakes the phone wont charge anymore? Is there a possibillity that this is software related? Because I did not bump my phone to anything. I have just ran that app and ever since its not charging anymore or connecting to my PC.

Well have you tried a factory reset?
It could be the soldering part which connects the port to the board maybe broken. Maybe it just slightly touch to your board, that's why it just pop up and show charging then it went away.
Unfortunately it is not a part you can hand re-solder with any degree of success.....The contacts are *way* too small.....
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
Solder tools has many sizes. You need expert to do it. Otherwise if you short each other, you will be in more trouble.
Mate...seriously? I've seen these usb ports off the boards....The connectors are tiny.....You'd need a needle point on a low powered soldering iron. You'd also need a lighted magnifying glass just to be able to see what you're doing.......
Oh, *and* a rock steady hand.....which is something that most humans don't have.
There is a reason why these microcircuitry boards are assembled by robots....it's because we would bork too many of them if we tried it......

Yep, agreed ^^
The gf's Nintendo DS charging port broke, worked for a while by twisting the charger lead around until it made a connection, then stopped even doing that, so I thought I could just permanently solder the charger wires to the connectors in the port for her, so it would work at least while plugged in
Soon as I took the thing to bits I could see straight away there was no hope, even with a powerful magnifying glass and the smallest soldering bit I could think of, there was no chance at all, I would have soldered 2-3 pins together at once if I'd tried
Micro-Electronics need machines to solder them, not humans
Try official repairing centre, there might be chance for you.
