Rapidly connecting and disconnecting in USB Mode - Nook Touch General

When I connect Nook to computer the reader's screen starts flashing and I get many pop-ups that device was connected
but it almost immediately disconnects. I can successfully restore full memory backup using noogie but after booting I can't connect Nook to computer. Help!
PS. I tried another cable.

USB connection problems

I'm experiencing some strange problems with my phone for few days. Problems started when I flashed cm_dream_sapphire-08122010-081631.zip, after that phone wouldn't see a USB connection (there were no notifications about USB debugging, etc). First I didn't really care - it's nightlies after all and some things can be broken, but today I flashed latest nightly and problem was still there. After that I started to worry and turn off the phone, but phone won't even charge from USB cable. then I restored my nandroid backup from the time whene everything was working fine and the problem didn't solve. So, I've replaced USB cable (my USB player still works fine with old cable, so I don't really think it's the cable) and phone started to charge from USB cable. But the problems still here...
1) when I use USB-MS toggle from recovery I can't access my sdcard at all and get error message when I try to access it (something about input/output error on device)
2) when I try to enable USB storage on the phone it turns on for a few seconds and then turns off by itself
also, I tried to get a logcat when I'm enabling USB storage:

Different kind of bricked?

I know there are a million threads out there on bricking and odin and download mode and I have gone through almost all of them in the past 2 hours but I havent been able to find the solution to my problem.
I was odining back from trigger redux to JFD when the phone got stuck at flashing factoryfs.rfs. I hadnt checked repartition before flashing. After 20 mins of being stuck i disconnected the phone from my laptop and rebooted it.
It booted up to the pc and phone download mode screen. Since then my laptop running windows 7 64 bit is unable to recognize it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and restarted the machine a couple of times.
I have done multiple battery pulls to try to recognize the phone on windows and tried all 4 USB ports but it wont be recognized at all. As soon as I connect the phone to the laptop, it boots up to the pc and phone screen which means the phone can detect the pc but the pc cant detect the phone.
I've tried using the original samsung micro usb cable as well as a nokia micro usb cable which i usually use for charging the phone.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I do not have access to other windows machines at the moment.
i just noticed that if i pull the battery while the phone is connected to the laptop, the phone and pc download screen stays on.

USB goes ballistic and internal storage SD card greyed out after connecting to win7.

When I plug my nook into my laptop it 'briefly' enters USB mode, and then drops it and the drives. It then tries to go back into USB mode, and basically does this repeatedly until it gives up The nook is basically unusable during this and keeps flashing with the usb mode and normal home screen. After this happens, both the Nook internal storage and SD card are greyed out in settings, reading "unavailable", and the SD card cannot be accessed and is not detected in any way. What gives?
Is this a windows problem, a nook software problem, or a hardware problem? I'm not sure if this happened before I rooted, since I basically just took a backup and rooted as soon as I had it out of the christmas wrapping.

Can you please try to connect it to the pc without the sd-card inserted?
Have you tried reloading the original firmware?

The same thing happens when connecting without the SD card. I haven't tried reloading the original firmware yet but I first really noticed it happening after I did a full backup with NookManager on 1.0.1. That was when I could not get it to stay in usb mode long enough to copy the 1.1 update zip into the directory. The only way I was able to get it in was I 'tried' doing the 6 hard resets where I tried holding down shut down 6 times in a row (but nothing special happened so I thought nothing happened). And then I restarted windows and it seemed to work, for a while anyway, until I rooted. I wonder if that had to do with restarting windows or restarting the nook a couple dozen times. lol
The changes I've made so far to my nook ST:
1.0.1 backup with noogy
1.0.1 backup with nookmanager
1.1 manually update
1.1 root with touchnooter
I rooted 3 times in a row because the first time none of the apps worked
multi touch kernal with CWM
then I switched to
OC kernel with fast mode
lots of software additions and tweaks like legacy launcher, wallpaper changer, ES file explorer, adb wifi
Static IMEI mod
Whatsapp verification/install
So besides the USB problem it's kicking ass at this point . I really hope I don't have to restore to original firmware or return it for hard ware problems. So I can confirm this is not a usual occurrence? Let me test it on some other computers to see if it's my laptop...
UPDATE: I started windows in safe mode and it had no problems whatsoever connecting to the nook as it should, and the nook didn't go nuclear either. So I suspect it's some drivers or software relating to virtual disks that is conflicting with the nook, or something else enigmatic. What a pain..

[Q] Hard bricked NST after deleting partitions

Hello,
My NOOK is completely unresponsive with a plain white screen. When I connect it to the computer it does not get recognized so writing the backup on it is not an option. I tried disconnecting the battery with no avail.
Anyone with more advanced suggestions? And remember partitions are deleted (I was trying to write an old backup on it).

Did you try booting to the SD card? Maybe with NookManager or CWM? Not sure how the partition issue would affect this since I'm not sure how much of the device is needed to be working to boot an SD card.
It does not turn on of course. That is what I meant by "completely unresponsive". So booting from SD is currently not an option. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I do not have a device that is stuck at some screen, that can be turned on or off. the only signs of life are
1- the green led lights up when connected to charger.
2- "unrecognized device" sound comes from my windows PC when I connect the NST to it via USB..
