x720 vs x722 vs x727 in-depth - LeEco Le Pro3 Questions & Answers

Which one is the best and why?
Are they all unlockable? (i know the x722 is, but I read stuff about x727 not being permanently unlocked?!)
Do we have a qfil for x727?( I read there was one, but then it disappeared, also people were saying it didn't work)
Are all x720 roms available for x727(seems like they are)
Network coverage in europe.
Which one will get continous support with Custom roms?

1. Yes, you can unlock the bootloader on all of them. The x722 only gets bricked if you try to flash stock 26s through TWRP. Read the sticky in this forum.
2. No, there is no QFIL file for the x722. The x720's doesn't work. F.J.V tried creating one, but it didn't work so he took it down in order to prevent people from accidentally thinking there was a fix.
3. Yes, a lot of ROMs are interchangeable, especially if your device has the exact same specs as the x720. But it gets a bit confusing because of the x722, which has the Snapdragon 820 and fewer features compared to the x720 and x727. I believe the x727 has official kernel sources out from LeEco, and since it's exactly the same device as the x720, but with a few different network bands. The x727 was released in the U.S.
x720 ROMs won't necessarily work on the x722. They need to be ported to the x722, as the x722 has a different chipset. That's why there's a separate forum for x722 development, though some argue it's redundant.
4. It depends on how active the developer is. I know LineageOS ROMs tend to get a lot of support.

You once said you would not trust x722 as a daily driver. Why is that?
And do you think it's worth it to replace x722 with a x727?

5.8 or 5.9 I'd say, but probably not 8.8.
And it's a shop Rom for international orders. I'd bet it came with Google Play pre-installed too, right?

I don't own a x722 myself, but if it's like a x720 you can flash a stock rom using the recovery boot (boot the phone while holding volume up). You can find said rom on the x722 subforum.

Ok so when I go into the recovery at startup I have an update button but I would like to know if the roms (720,722,727) are compatible between it?
I suggest you to read carefully the various threads to learn "how to". And no, the roms for Lex 720/727 aren't compatible with Lex 722, until now. Lex 722 has slighty different hardware but it is enough to prevent easy compatibility. Cheers!
Do not flash a x720 or x727 rom to your x722, you will brick the phone.

Thank you very much but I can not find an official EUI rom for the 722. And it is possible to install android 6.0.1 because it is the current version of my phone but with the leeco overlay.

Miui. please respond to the developers

flipped through the forum 4pda in Russia in Russia, we got involved with the instruction on the firmware LOS 15.1 through fastboot. The man told a detailed instruction about the firmware of the folds.
Firmware system_b.
The question is as follows. Can I use only one partition under the firmware without using the other one?
I also read that you need one more must section, for miui applications, you can also create it for yourself.
yes we will lose in the amount of memory. but we get a working miui.
PS I'm not a developer just reading the forums I collect information bit by bit.

The work to port miui on mi a1 is really huge and above all it's a nonsense.
If you want miui then buy a miui capable phone. Mi 5x is an example... The mi a1 Chinese twin.
Someone tried to port miui to mi a1 in vain...
Personally I doubt that anyone is ready to take the task and make this work.
The MIUI version of a1 is even cheaper to buy... I really don't understand why people want to run MIUI on the only Xiaomi phone where you pay a premium not to have it in the first place.
The mind boggles!
As others have said, if people want a MIUI phone, buy *any* other Xiaomi device!
I am so glad to see the replies from you other people. I thought I was missing something thinking "What? WHY!"
There is an, as I understand it, identical device with MIUI (Mi 5X?) already. And a bunch of other Xiaomi phones of course.
There actually was a thread some time back (a couple of months?) about MIUI on A1 and someone being a bit snotty about it. HAve to go back and look... (yeah, I live a pretty pathetic life... )
Just if you deal with the sections in this phone it will help to solve problems later. e.g. flyme
I believe the reason for people wanting MIUI in Mi A1 was because Mi A1 has more bands than its Chinese twin.

I realised that too afterreading an old thread about this. Apparently band 20 isn't enabled in 5X.

>Releases a phone, only one model in 2 variants: with miui and with stock android
>People want miui variant
>They do not buy miui variant, instead they buy the variant they didn't want and asks how to install miui
This idiocism is beyond any reasonable understanding

Why immediately idiocy? I'm trying to figure out what's what, I'm interested in porting. Since I have not done this before, I find out the necessary information. Therefore, the developers, share experiences, can advice.

i'm sure there are a lot of alternatives close to the Mi A1

I understand that porting and developing is fun and people are curious, but why not focus your energy and time on other things? (like helping with 7.1.2 and 8.1.0 AOSP builds or pressuring Xiaomi into releasing the sources for Oreo).
If someone success on porting MIUI, probably 3 people in the world would use it. It's pointless.
Don't be so stubborn on something that's pretty much pointless.
@Pa94 I'm also slowly researching what a port would take. I don't think it would be too hard considering we have an almost equal device in mi 5x to use as base for a patchrom. Then port that on top of any nougat rom for the A1. However I don't have enough time currently and knowledge about the partition layouts. What I know differs is the miui cust partition and the a/b layout. I guess it takes first of all an boot.img port pointing to the right partitions and things. Then patch the 5x rom.
Here we go, again!

Through Xiaomi's new policy .....

Through Xiaomi's new policy phones manufactured for Chinese market
are not been able to run MIUI Global ROM and vice versa.

if you dont have an unlocked bootloader it wont let you flash a global rom.
this is basicly to prevent people from buying chinese versions from aliexpress.
the problem is that these sellers open the bootloader and install a fake global rom / global rom on it...
if you have an unlocked bootloader you are fine, your playstore wont pass safety net though
...
Now Xiaomi Phones which are manufactured in China Factory/China Hardware, can't be able to run MIUI Global ROM with Locked Bootloader.

Are the call problems on global rom irrelevant to this?
or somehow Xiaomi made the global rom incompatible with Chinese models?

Oooh, believe me, it will...
How are those AliExpress sellers unlocking the bootloader and installing fake global ROMs? Do they have an army of people making fake MIUI accounts and waiting for a month for an unlock code? Sounds to me like they use logic probes to flash the fake ROMs directly.

That's a good question.
If it is so, why would they do that?
What's the benefit of this for Xiaomi?
This looks very bad.
They can make all the excuses they want, but I think there's a pretty clear agenda here.
I'd be surprised if there's still a development community for any new Xiaomi phones in 6 months, given how fast this is deteriorating.
As long as they keep device price down, bootloader unlockable and release kernel sources everything will be fine with development community... That's all devs need.
MIUI fans are those that should worry...
Prices are likely to stay down.
The other two ... doubtful. Some people are already waiting 3 months for bootloader unlock codes. If that becomes the norm, that's development stone dead.
They've also done absolutely nothing about releasing kernels in a more timely fashion, despite promising it repeatedly over the last year. If anything they've gone up slightly.
People ignored the warning signs with Huawei, and others before them, or hoped for the best (I did). Look where we are now.
They actually released Max 3 kernel source pretty fast, less than a month after device launch...
https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource/tree/nitrogen-o-oss?files=1
The thing is no custom roms coming out of China forums which makes me think this device has no China market success... That wasn't the case with first Max. Custom roms started popping up first week after release even without kernel source...

The problem is understanding real difference between the China & Global versions, how they decide to allow or not allow flashing of the 2 versions.
In the official announcement they imply this restriction is only for devices released under 2018.
On 4pda they seem to think that there is no actual hard difference ("model identifiers"?) between Global and Chinese Mi8, but there is for the respective Mi2s, for example.
If I read correctly.
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=906971&st=940#entry75262442
Looks like all restrictions are in bootloader - unlocking, ARB, market variant. There is no hardware differences/restrictions between any of the Max 3 variants period. Otherwise you will not be able to run different MIUI versions with unlocked bootloader.
devinfo partition keeps the bootloader unlocked status. Not sure where the bits defining China/Global device are kept... yet...

That may be but it's the people who flashed the Global Rom on a China device who have the problems
with phone calls / broken modem.
Would they have built in a restriction in the Global Rom so you could not install it on a
China device to work properly ???
We won't know till proper official Global rom shows up on en.miui.com. All I see right now are global roms from under the table so to speak full of bugs.
Most of us purchased the Mi Max 3 which was manufactured for the mainland China market, because the "global" variant of the phone was only released a few weeks ago in Singapore, Hong Kong, etc. If the official warning on the Xiaomi site that phone's manufactured for the Chinese market cannot flash global ROMs and vice versa, then our solution is to use the xiaomi.eu ROM. Xiaomi.eu is a modified version of the China ROM, but is entirely in English and other European languages with full Google framework services. The MIUI 10 8.8.9 China weekly development ROM available from xiaomi.eu is rock solid. Once Xiaomi releases a China stable MIUI 10 ROM for the Mi Max 3, xiaomi.eu will tweak and release it for the English speaking world, so for those who bought their Max 3's before a global variant was manufactured will be fine as long as they use xiaomi.eu.

I'd be very surprised if this isn't selling well (very well) in China. It's an incredible value proposition, and large screen & large battery are seen as very desirable in both that and other Asian markets.
However, I think the 3 month wait for BL unlock *is* the norm now for Chinese and select other Asian users .. whereas rest of the world it appears to be totally random. Could be a couple of hours or it could be 3 months.
I think you'll find that's the reason why there's little to no Chinese development activity. As I said ... thin end of the wedge, IMO.

OnePlus 8 Pro Global Rom

Hey everyone,
I'm currently in China and I'm thinking of buying the OnePlus 8 Pro. However, the Mainland 8 Pro currently only comes with the new Hydrogen OS, and limits use of certain features that I, as a user from the U.S. would like to use. The global website only has roms for download for up to the 7T Pro, not the 8 Pro yet. I'm wondering if there is any way to flash the global rom onto the 8 pro at this point. If not, I guess I'll have to reconsider my choices.
Thanks for the help.
P.S. Sorry, I'm a bit new to all this, so if there are any issue with my question, or if its unclear to you. Please let me know.

Wasn't able to flash. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted no problem. But then whenever I try to flash to Oxygen, it says that I am not allowed to "downgrade". I think because the nomenclature for Oxygen is lower than that of Hydrogen right now.

Has anyone successfully flashed a gsi and if so what are the steps please.

Has anyone successfully flashed a gsi and if so how and what steps.i managed to get the newest corvous to boot the the corvous splash screen/logo but it won't go into system just hangs there.
If you are going to use an aftermarket/custom ROM, it needs to be made specifically for our variant, HD1925 (TMo branded, x55 5G modem).
I highly doubt you are going to get any GSI running unless there's a patch or other changes to make any or most GSIs work on the HD1925. And I've never seen anything mentioning that, but then again I haven't heavily researched GSI versions. Also, that conversation is not for our OnePlus 7T Pro Mclaren ROM subforums -- it's for whatever thread in the GSI forums.
