Has anyone had issues with the notification LED blinking when you don't have any notifications? This is really frustrating and I can't figure out how to fix it. I've restarted, cleared the cache for the phone and cleared the cache for messages.
Is it supposed to blink with the phone turned on? It only blinks while charging with the phone off

It is not a notification LED, it is a special purpose charge indicator.... It should only blink/light when the battery is too low to turn on and it is charging... If it is doing it at other times the problem is a hardware fault (usually moisture related).

I don't think it's a hardware fault. It only happens when then screen is off.

Boot in Safe Mode or factory default... if it still occurs, it's a hardware fault, if it goes away it's an app conflict.
We have seen this before though, it is almost always hardware when the light comes on when it shouldn't because the stock ROM has no provisions for any control of the light.

Definitely an issue with my ROM or an app. I ran a backup then Factory Reset which fixed the issue. I'll ask this question in the rom thread.

Sounds good... Good luck!
I just assumed you were stock since you didn't state differently in your OP.

Is there any possible way to just disable it. I romed my phone, ive done it hundreds of times, but for some reason, the green LED is just solid now. Is there a way just to disable it?

LOL That'd be awesome! Haha
Anyways back on topic - Have you tried flashing another Rom? Check if it's a hardware or software issue
Yea, I reverted to the 1.8 and still the same thing. Put 1.1.2 back on.
As soon as I hit the power button (even in recover) it is green LED. Ideas?
Try doing a nandroid backup, then wipe your phone and install a different ROM. If it still persists, it's probably your hardware
I've experienced the extreme battery drain others here are reporting. I read about the Facebook 1.3 diagnosis, but removing this app did not resolve the issue for me. After some investigating and testing, I've found that the LED Light widget (not the new app that came with the phone, but a widget actually called "LED Light" by picolyl) also causes a partial wake lock. Your screen will go off but your phone does not sleep. To alleviate this simply remove the widget from the home screen it is located on, no need to uninstall. Hopefully the dev will be able to fix this issue; I have sent him an email via the market to notify him.

Would this, perhaps, apply to the SwitchPro Widget LED light as well?
I uninstalled the facebook update and was still getting some pretty ****ty battery life, I JUST pulled the switchpro LED light from it's bar and am praying that fixes my battery. I can't find anything in Spare Parts or SystemPanel on what the culprit is though, everything looks "ok"
Are you referring to this widget ?
I have used that app since the phone came out and don't have problems with battery because of it... but I did have a huge battery problem after updating.. FACTORY RESET will fix you problem

Unless you're on a custom ROM, in which case wouldn't a factory reset totally hose you?
I'm not sure which LED light (with widget) I had, but I can also confirm I had terrible battery life with it. I started removing the most recent apps I installed, and that was the one.
Even if you're not on a Custom rom, factory reset did nothing for my battery life. It was fine until Froyo. Now it's dying and NOTHING is on. I can't see where my battery is going. I've checked all the running apps, and force stopped non essential ones. My battery is still dying very quickly. I was doing factory resets last night because Sprint was saying that if I did it would remove 2.2. I don't know who is dumber, him for telling me or me for actually doing it and believing it might.

First and foremost, don't factory reset! That causes gremlins to come out. If you want to wipe your data, boot into recovery, wipe the cache, dalvik cache, and the user data option there.

Check your Up time vs Awake time in Battery under about phone in settings. If they match or are very close, you have an app causing a wake lock. Typically, you should see a big gap, like this: Up time 20:34:56, Awake time 3:30:24
I posted a topic about this too when the leaked update came out and can confirm it causes a drain. There is no need to wipe or reset anything. Just uninstall it until the dev updates it for froyo.
it appears to be on...if i plug into computer i can hear the computer "ding" and box pops up on computer...any ideas?
it was at 60+% last night when i went to bed...running BAMF 2.3.1...

contacted google...they had me plug the 7 in...hold the power button down for about 20 secs or so...it actually rebooted...was told it is an issue with the 4.1.1 bootloader not playing well with the device...does not happen often...so if this happens to you...plug it in...hold down power button until it wakes up or reboots...

I have exactly the same problem, happened to me two times today already.
Nearly once a day I'd say.
Did google say, if they are working to fix this bug? It's strange that no one else is reporting about this problem...

sounds like sod(sleep of death). its most likely a bamf rom/kernel issue, not a google issue. sod usually occurs because of lowered core voltages or from undervolting. sleep of death is when your device wont wake but is still on. a force reboot will bring it back.

Just wanted to add, that rotation sometimes stops working on my device. If I toggle Auto-Rotate in the notification bar, this will result in a complete freeze and I have to force reboot as well. Thought the problem was gone after a factory reset, but startet again.
I think I will get a replacement device on monday...

Currently I'm using stock ROM/kernel. So this is a known software bug and no hardware problem? Haven't found many threads about this problem, so it seemed not to be that common. That's why I though about a hardware defect.
Today I've the problem again, the notification simply doesn't work, it looks like the sensor is failing or something because I took it out of the pocket, as usual, and it doesn't light on... having to use the power button again...
It happened other time, some weeks after I bought it... complaining with the technical support on Moto Care, without results, so I've factory reset and wipe everything, and it works...
So, my first guess is that the cache of Active Notification may have some guilty on that, but I can't find the app from it to clean and check if it works. Does anyone knows what app is it?
I'm not gonna to factory reset this time, it simply not useful as a solution.
Does anyone have/had this problem?
Regards,
It happened to be one time. I found the solution to be simply disabling Active Notifications and then re-enabling it.

If a factory reset fixes it, it's probably not a sensor issue. It's possible that an app you've installed is interfering with it somehow - do you have any kind of root apps, or apps that play with system resources (like process managers/Greenify/etc.), or apps that control notifications?
I've noticed this on 4.4 a few times, as well as the lag on unlocking from AN a few times, too. Then again, I'm still on the leak, so that may have something to do with it.
Case maybe? Make sure the screen is clean. That proximity sensor is sensitive.
I think I found the problem.
The app management of what will show on active notification... don't active any of those that did not come checked after a reset. I did check some "Google's" for active notification.
Hello all!
Yesterday I was 9gagging in my bed, and I noticed that little led started constantly lighting. Tried 2-3x to reboot but nothing happened, after the startup it started to light again... https://imgur.com/a/m4FK9lC You can see it in the picture.
Other question:
My screen rotation is also bugged. Tried to fix that with those reboots, but again nothing happened. I can not rotate my phone. (Only youtube fullscreen rotates the image, anything else stays horizontal)
Maybe its time for a ROM? The system starting to fall apart, had numerous random reboots etc. But I am afraid that with the ROM, a I will have a lot of other problems, like bluetooth and wifi not working together, camera is gonna be ****ty without LG's app.
What should i do?

That is the proximity sensor, and it is a normal behavior, otherwise it couldn't do its job
Yeah i know, but it should not light 24/7 and it did not light 24/7 before. Its a weird bug. And its really annoying... Especially at night...
Have you tried factory reset? Ib know it's the easy answer but I think it's the best in your case.
Anyway, it seems like a hardware issue, so if it persists after factory reset, I would send the phone to repair (i hope is still under warranty)

Yes it does. It turns off AOD in your pocket, raise-to-pick-up, screen off when in call.
There are a lot of actions connected to this sensor.
Btw, mine is also on all the time.

Just tried factory reset now for the rotation bug, it looks like I somehow totally broke it. I used pixel live wallpapers, especially the Zion national park one which used the accelerometer constantly. Tried a numerous kind of calibration apps, and all of them failed.
Totally hopeless now, i have to use a ****ty app to rotate my screen every time :/

Thanks for the answer, any idea about the accelerometer problem. (After factory reset its still not working)
