In Oreo of January I've got this kernel wakelock that keep my phone always active even in standby, so battery drain it's very high. In Nougat I had not this problem and battery was very good. Any solution? thanks.
Same.
Me too. On Oreo custom rom, but also on every other rom. ITs something about the USB port.....
---------- Post added at 06:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:10 PM ----------
This helped me:
1)Change dir to: sys/module/DWC3_msm/parameters
2) Open file "disable_host_mode"
3) Delete "N"
4) Enter "Y"
5) Save
You can try disable usb debugging. And remove default MTP usb mode.
Cheers!
This wakelock has been bothering me in my mi a1.. Tried every custom ROM and kernel. But nothing works. Only thing that works if I plug in my otg adapter ( even without a pendrive). Then my phone goes to deep sleep.
same problem bro .. i m on stock rom and this issue is there from april update for me
did u find any permanent solution ??
My phone stopped having this wakelock on its own after about 1 month.
Avoid plugging it in pc with usb. Charge with charger only, and do not transfer files with cable - download them instead.

But in your previous response you had mentioned as
1)Change dir to: sys/module/DWC3_msm/parameters
2) Open file "disable_host_mode"
3) Delete "N"
4) Enter "Y"
5) Save

this helped you and here you've mentioned it was fixed automatically, which fixed it?
Previous post was something I found on other forums and tried myself, with no particular luck.
Not plugging phone in PC via USB helped me, although Im not really sure why.
Now, after wakwlocks stopped, I can plug USB without problems.
Try not plugging it for, lets say, a month and see if it helps.
This wakelock is pretty random i must say.
When it occurs you can even see red error messages in TWRP coming in console all the time while you do nothing with the recovery. Like USB port is getting woken up every few secs.
For me it stopped. Hope it helps you
I already had USB debugging turned off, so based on the above posts, I changed the USB Configuration type to Photo from File. It helped, some. Instead of 20% drain overnight, it was reduced to 10%. That is still a lot IMO, since the phone is doing nothing but sitting there. In Airplane mode, it uses 1% in the same time period.
I would advise installing Better Battery Stats
Then make a dump file and post it on the official thread, it is really important to follow the instruction for making a log to the letter.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Instructions:
Before posting a dump please make sure that the references for kernel wakelocks and alarms were processed correctly. Reading a dump takes a few minutes and it would be great if you could not waste the time of whomever studies it, aiming at helping you.
Generally a dump "since unplugged" is better than "since charged". When you start your analysis make sure to follow following procedure:
- enable watchdog processing in BBS settings
- verify from/to references is checked under custom views
- full charge device then let it run down to ~95%
- put device to sleep for at least 6 hours (no touchy!)
- wake device and launch BBS
- adjust from/to references to 'screen off' and 'screen on'
- save dumpfile from share menu
- post resulting log to this thread (or provide cloud link)
I will not reply to posts with incomplete dumps

Have the same problem...It started happening recently when i connected phone to pc to flash custom ROMs/kernels etc. Now i have drain in standby by this 7000000.usb wakelock...For some reason toggling Airplane mode seems to solve this issue, this is OK during the night for me, but at daytime it is very annoying and it drains battery much faster than using the phone

y use tasker to execute with root privileges this command in every reboot, works fine
echo Y > /sys/module/dwc3_msm/parameters/disable_host_mode
Ps: in play store i tested an app "boot shell" it execute terminal commands on boot, works fine but I like tasker

Dear photon users,
I need to calibrate our photon battery driver.
Please find enclosed a little application, that will poll the Windows battery values and write debug data into a file.
This will help me to calibrate the driver.
Note: this application will not damage your phone. it only read data and writes it to a file.
I need some volunteers to use this application and send me the debug output.
You can do this during the night, so you will be able to use your phone on day time
Here is how to use the app:
A- SET YOUR POWER SAVING SETTINGS
(running on Windows, not Android!)
1- go in "Settings" > "Sound and Display" > "Backlight"
2- under power saving settings for "running on battery":
uncheck "disable backlight if i dont use my phone for x time"
uncheck "switch off my phone if not used for x time"
(this will help the phone to drain battery quickly, and avoid phone to switch off when recording the data)
3- under power saving settings for "running with power cable":
check "disable backlight if i dont use my phone for x time"
uncheck "switch off my phone if not used for x time"
(this will help the phone to charge faster, and avoid phone to switch off when recording the data)
B- DISCHARGE DATA SURVEY
(running on Windows, not Android!)
1- charge your phone to 100%
2- launch PowerSpy.exe
3- let your phone drains the battery by itself until Windows switch-off because low power (PowerSpy running in background)
4- plug your power cable, boot windows, and download the file at root of your phone named "\battery_data_survey.txt" to your PC
5- (you can rename it as "battery_data_survey_discharge.txt")
C- CHARGE DATA SURVEY
(running on Windows, not Android!)
1- discharge your phone to the maximum, around 10% (if you didnt discharge it yet)
2- launch PowerSpy.exe
3- plug your power adaptor to charge your phone
4- let your phone charge with PowerSpy running in background
5- at the end of the charge, when LED is green, download the file at root of your phone named "\battery_data_survey.txt" to your PC
6- (you can rename it as "battery_data_survey_charge.txt")
Finaly, answer to this post with those two txt files attached to your post reply.
Notes:
1- Be careful, everytime you launch this app, it overwrites the output data file and creates a new one.
2- When you launch PowerSpy, it automatically record the data, there is no need for you to do anything else. just let it run in background
3- To retrieve the data file, you need to set your phone in USB mode with ActiveSync. Then, connect phone to PC, browse "My Computer" > "Mobile Device" > root of your device: the file should be there
Thank you very much for your help!
I will do this on my side, but I need data from you, otherwise the battery driver will not be accurate for you
i have started the process and will post the files when it's done!!!
i hope you can fix it and compile a good logarithm.
This is the first, second coming today about 18 hours
i also wil start it tomorow after work.
thanks guys!
let me know if there is any trouble with the application.
be careful, everytime you launch this app, it overwrites the output data file and creates a new one!
I will try test tomorrow night, and will report you. Gook Luck
We stand by your working forever.
In China, a lot of user will go in.
I want send these data to you after testing.
Shall you tell me your e-mail??
Maybe you could send e-mail to me at first.
my e-mail:[email protected]
thanks for your working~~
thanks!
i tested it during the night for discharge, but itwent from 100% to 70% in about 8 hours... i need to put something that drain battery fast.
maybe enable wifi, 3G, camera and video at the same time.
the faster discharge is going, better it is (otherwise the debug file is huge and does not change a lot)
hi r0bin,i'll send my report soon
here is a good app which will help you to discharge battery fast, and also calibrate it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=516458
Another option for discharge is the game Risky Wars: http://www.riskywars.com/ I think it uses the CPU to discharge.
good job and good luck.
I'm also to wifi and Bluetooth, and speaker work together. This can speed up the battery consumption. Can I do this? Or standby power consumption?
I will upload files
sorry for my english!I hope you can understand the meaning...
ok
here are my files about the discharge and charge process.
this is battery test data
Hi!r0bin
thanks for you great job.the test file uploaded come from xda.cn.it only the first test file, and more will be here later.hope it would help.
hi guys, thanks a lot for your files and for taking the time to do it (15MA1L, 15131331231 & xda.cn.it, Smudoooo)
the very good news is, the raw values match the windows values, this wont be that difficult to calibrate the driver.
the bad news is, i forgot to log the current charge and discharge, as well as ADC_REF etc :-/
i compiled a new version of this app, that log also the current, please use this one.
thanks

here is my data: had wifi, BT on with opera in autorefresh mode
I can't post in the development thread so I thought I'd post here. I just flashed Hashcode's latest Jellybean build for the KF a minute ago. I am experiencing some problems and would like to know if anyone could help me with them. First off, the Play Store keeps force closing on me. I am running the 7/11 JB Gapps and that's supposed to fix it. Second, battery life has seemed to me at least, to be less than average. I started counting at 40% and in about 20 minutes it was at 34% and stayed there for a long time. I rebooted and it was at 28% which then almost immediately dropped to 27%. I went through all the settings and disabled any battery drainers I could find such as, background apps running, location services, Gmail notifications, etc. Does anyone know how I can improve my battery life? Before I flashed this rom I was running JackpotClavin's ICS build and that had stellar battery life. (Only need to charge every 3 or 4 days). I tried updating to Hashcode's 3.0 kernel and ROM based off CM9 a couple of months ago and battery life was a issue there too. Please help if you can.
Thanks,
wws

You didn't state what charge your battery was at when you flashed jbean. If you did not have a full 100% charge then you will need to clear your battery stats (when at 100%) and let it discharge fully to have a properly calibrated battery stats.
Not to hijack your thread or anything but i have had some problems with the latest build as well my friend
wifi doesn't want to connect for me.... like it detects the networks and tries to connect to my dlink router but its stuck on obtaining ip address..
i had no problems on the previous build with wifi after the adb fix.
help for both of us would be greatly appreciated.

I installed the first version of Hash's JB after doing a System wipe and I had a number of small issues including Gapps. I finally went back and reinstalled it after doing a Factory Reset. That fixed all of the problems I was having. Of course it wipes your settings and data but for me it was worth it. You might want to try the Factory Reset. I played with the JB all day yesterday and got very good battery life and the charging indicators were working. I really think the battery issues are related to the 3.0 kernel.

Just clear the data in the Play Store. Just had that issue when flashing the update. You'll need to login to Google again, but that should be all that's needed. If there's more FC happening, just delete the apps and reinstall them using Google Play and that should take care of it.

You want to go into TWRP Recovery?
Turn off device
Turn on device, then hold down power button until
a) If you have FFF1.4a a little menu will come up at the bottom and select Recovery
b) If you have an older version of FFF, the power LED will turn orange.
thanks so much. been using kfu for that. knew there was a way.
USB and ADB Mount
Hi, I installed the latest rom doing just a cache and dalvik wipe and could not mount USB or ADB except in Recovery. I reinstalled the rom including a factory wipe and now can mount USB and ADB normally. Everything works beautifully. Thank you Hash.
Ok new issue. USB charging does not work! I tried unplugging and replugging, no go. Only way I can get it to charge is with the AC adapter. Also Hash, how is work coming along on the 3.0 kernel. Will the charging light issues be fixed soon? Not rushing you, just was wondering how much progress is being made.

Ok all. I think I might have fixed the extreme battery drain on this ROM. Turn off location sharing in accounts>your account>maps>location sharing and set wifi settings to disable wifi when in sleep mode. Charge your kindle to 100 percent and do a battery stats reset in TWRP. I am now getting 80% remaining after 20 hours on battery. Hope this will fix the battery problems you might be having.:fingers-crossed:

Thanks for the tip, seems like turning the wifi off when in sleep mode would be common sense but it definitely went over my head. Saving a ton of battery already!
Hello!
I bought Nexus 10 at nearly two weeks, and since the beginning i have noticed an issue i thought would be Software related. As the device is on idle, everything works pretty well. Watching movies, web surfing, etc. Doesn't matter if it's for 5mins or 5 hours. But when it goes to sleep mode (automatically or forced by me), it just turns off consequently. I would say 90% of the times. An then Nexus just turn back to life after a long power button press, like 10 secs or more.
First i read about some people who have problems caused by autosleep function related with some cases. When i remove my tablet from the Poetic case, it keeps going off.
Then i read about Location services. It's turned off too. Such as the wi-fi in sleep mode. Didn't solve either.
Any idea?
PS: I'm from Portugal and my English is not the best. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the response anyway.
Is that thread about freezing? My Nexus is not freezing.
Hello! Yes, that is one of the threads Im talking about. I found it to hard to find people who posted with as good of detail as you did, so I had to "latch on" to the biggest group that was vocal about their problems. But mine manifests itsself almost always as sleep of death, and NOT reboot - just like yours. Here are some links:
Google: https://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/d/msg/mobile/-/GFnACv1nC0MJ
On of the XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998496&page=39
As I say on the Google thread:
My thoughts on the error:
1) The most logical explanation I've heard yet is the memory leak that B has been posting about
2) I think this memory leak/problem can manifest its self as crash, reboot, or sleep of death
Right now I am trying Stock 4.2.2, rooted, using KTmanta kernal. This is the second day Im on a non-stock kernal, too early to post any useful info.
Good luck on this,
bm

say, quick question since you are in same boat as me - does your device's serial # start with R32C or R32D?
My device is R32D.
I guess i will call the seller tomorrow and figure out if it's possible to return the tablet. At this point, it's completely unusable.

I agree that the inability of this device to reliably stay powered on is a deal breaker, at least in a work scenario.
I actually bought mine "just for games", but have been really concerned about trying to resolve this issue to verify its not a hardware issue and I miss my warranty period. I cant honestly say I think its a harware issue, so I am really trying to find a ROM/Kernal/settings combo that resolves this.
I have a lot of faith in the dev community for ROMs and kernels, but I think its absolutely scandalous and horrible that I have to click past a warning that says 'may void your warranty' to install softare on my device to make it perform AS IT SHOULD HAVE direct from Google.
If not for all these issues I would have NEVER gone custom recovery, root, and new kernel. Im glad this has forced me to do so because Ive loved finally having a justification for "risking" my expensive device, but again that learning experience is NOT what Google is taking $500 payments for here https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_10_32gb so Google should be SHAMED!
Thanks for the info on your serial number, that actually relieves a concern of mine that somehow the 'newer' units werent having this problem. Mine's a C.

I hope it stays that way for you. It will take a few more days with the device to know for sure. If the problem comes back it'd be worth noting here for troubleshooting. :good:
I called back the seller, and they will do the return. Really bad situation...
i left my n10 in my house and its idle with 41% on battery i just got home and open the device it consume only 1% without random reboots. hope itll stay this way ill root this and install crom maybe nextweek.
So - now I am 2.5 days into testing 4.2.2 OS with a different kernel. And so far, NO sleep of death! AND I've been using the tablet a lot more than my "minimal use" in my other tests! This of course is the ultimate test - I'm posting/talking about it on the internet so certainly if its going to blow up in my face, now would be the time. But as of right now - it looks like the alternate kernal is better for my device than Google's...
I am using the KTmanta kernel.
It is important to note that the issue described in this thread does NOT involve the device turning itself off. Rather the issue is that the device is unresponsive when in sleep mode. You can tell this is the case in a few ways, but two obvious ones are that the notification light continues to function and the device requires a 10-second power button reset (the procedure for forcibly rebooting the device).
Personally, I am on CM10.1 night lies with Ktmanta kernel and still experiencing this problem.
Bigmatty, can you tell me what governor, i/o scheduler and clock settings you are using? Thanks.

Well, the majority of the complaint threads do not specifically or mainly focus on the device turning its self off, but this thread actually does.
My sleep- of- death problem on my old unit persisted on any scheduler/clock settings I tried, and I tried a lot w/ KTmanta. But it was RMA my device to get a new one that fixed my SoD.
Oh, and the LED flashing does not mean the unit is actually on, you can test that by plugging in a charger before attempting a long (power on) press = if you get instant battery charge indicator your unit was actually off.

That's REALLY weird, because based on a number of findings by a number of people, it turns out that this issue is related to a bug in the GPU driver that is causing a massive memory leak. You can check by opening a Terminal Emulator and running the command "ps su" This will show the memory usage for the "surfaceflinger" application, which is where the memory leak manifests. Memory usage should never go above ~70mb for that application, but on the N10 it balloons up above ~300mb before the system locks up.
Apparently we're all waiting on Samsung to fix the problem :\

After my two months of trouble shooting I feel strongly that there are two main issues: memory leak and "something to do with power". Likely a software/driver/OS problem on the memory leak like the majority says. BUT - not everyone has the power problems. I think the power problems are hardware related.
Only a couple other users have talked about experiencing the power problems...
If I was going to place a bet, I'd say based on your description of symptoms you too have the power problem. Ask the others in threads you are following if they have the LED thing, I'm guessing they don't.
Rxnelson on these forms does. He's seen it on two physical units. For me, it didn't appear on my second physical unit.
Good luck!!
"LED thing?" The LED thing is just the notification light continuing to flash even when surfaceflinger has locked the system. Don't really see how that's related to power in any way. The way that LED notification lights work is that the system sends an "on" signal to the LED control chip which then just runs the notification light pattern in a loop until it receives the "off" signal from the system. If you don't have any notifications prior to surfaceflinger going ballistic, or if you have the notification light disabled (many people do) you'd never notice this particular symptom.
Also please note the tip I shared about diagnosing if it's off or on via the charger I posted above, handy trick another user taught me.

Not quite what it seems. If the unit was on, plugging in the charger would not instantly,w/out delay, display the powered off charging indicator.
Ahh, okay, bit of a miscommunication. I'm not referring the power-on notification light. I'm referring to the notification light flashing that occurs when you have a notification waiting (new email, new gTalk message, etc). The charging light is something different, and not what I was referencing
NOTE: This is a function of CyanogenMOD 10.1 that is not present in the stock ROM, I think, so that may be where the confusion lies. Sorry about that

Yes dude, I understand. Just test what I am saying. When I saw my white gmail led flash, but then couldn't turn on I thought the exact same thing you typed. Then while discussing w/power users someone told me to try that. Next time it happened I tried it, was SHOCKED to see what happened, knew I had a problem (that was not just shell reboot.)
My tablet just started doing this as well. It's never done it before, it started about a week ago. What could be causing this? I just factory reset to see if it'll fix the problem. I'll report back in a few days to see if this fixes the issue.

Hey guys.
there are several major problems with my device.
first of all, lets see what we have here.
Exynos powered SM-N900 note 3 device
About 2 months old
rooted with CF- Auto Root
4.4.2 N900XXUDNA6_N900SERDNA6_SER firmware
that was the situation of device when the first problem showed itself.
Whiel i was watching video from an sd card, suddenly ı realised even if the device is on charge, (wall type) the battery percentage was dropping. when ı saw that, ı stopped watching the video, put down the phone and went to sleep. (it was 15 % at that time)
after 8 hours of proper sleep, I took my phone and saw that it was just 60%.
then ı began searching for slow charging issues. tried exactly everything about it, no luck. ( 5 different brands of different cables, 3 different brands of wall chargers, 2 different original note 3 batteries. tried both for AC and USB charging.)
All of them gave me the same result of charging current of 300 mah.
then ı tried all the wipe options, (wipe from recovery, factory reset from the settings menu, flashing another firmware which is CAC-N900XXUDNA8-20140210150816. ) still no luck. and things started to get worse.
a pain in the ass lag showed up, I'cant even use the camera. its like it comes and goes, but most of the time its there.
slow charging still continues, sometimes it does not charge at all,(had to reset couple of times) and when it charges, it's always 300 Mah and shows in the battery section as USB all the time ( even if I'm charging with the wall charger) ( already tried cache wipe for this, didn't make any difference.)
When I plug it to the PC, it does not recognize the device as a usb device, nor Kies, but ODİN does. (thankfully).
got this really weird screen, and some other screens close to it. (the screen actually faded away like in the picture ı uploaded. waited for it to go out for 10-15 seconds when ı pushed the wake button, the screen came itself just like nothing else happened 10 seconds ago!)
those are my problems, and the device is rooted, there is no warranty issue, so that means I'm stuck. it's not my first android device, and i consider myself just above average android user, but my hands are tied for this. any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!!
Really? No one can answer that?

Did u try charging when mobile is off?if not give a try
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah I tried that. It kind of shortens the time of charging, but still, there are also other problems and some way ı think all of them are connected. That can be a solution only for slow charging, but the other issues still there.

may all your problems linked each other possible, try to uninstall third party apps you have installed, may some app is causing all the problems.

I'm afraid that is also not a solution, because i already performed a full wipe and flashed a clean firmware, which cleared all 3rd party apps, still problems go on.
appreciate the effort though!

are you suggesting EFS back-up /restore?
By the way, i have fresh brand new issues!!
now device doesn't close, if i close it and connect it to a charger, it reboots itself to recovery mode!!!
ı discovered something about the lag issue. if i run the cpu enough, (like playing games) lag goes out. when ı quit the game, it turns back!!
I opened up cpu monitor from the developer options, everytime lag shows up, i see from the cpu list this thing:
irq/563-sii8240
I think this causes all of my problems.
any ideas???

EFS backup is very IMPORTANT, no Idea about what u say about CPU

I know the importance of the EFS, just couldn't figure out the relevance.

It looks like a problem with a interrupt of the video driver. I read you already flashed a other firmware, correct?

Have you installed any apps to monitor battery drain? I use GSAM Battery Monitor and every time I start to see weird things with my battery, I have a look to see which app is running wild. Removing the app usually sets my phone back to very good battery life. The other day HD Widgets updated their app and all of a sudden I was dropping battery life about 15% per hour when hardly using the phone. HD was the culprit, removing it put me back to normal again. This happens often when companies update their apps.
One other thing, does you phone run hot? In the notification screen, you can see the current temp of your phone. If your battery is draining fast, it will run hot.
Thank you for the feedback. I downloaded the app, here are my first results. Do you think its normal that my kernel alone 74% ? I recently turned into cvm recovery, any ideas for alternative kernels?

First of All Thanks to CM dev's for this awesome roms they have been providing us.
But for some time now, I have been facing some odd issues with my cell.. I'll describe them over here.. Here it goes
1. Issues with OTG Pendrives
This is a weird one i must say for me at-least. The problem is whenever i connect my OTG pendrive to my cell phone. either my cellphone does a soft restart and then loads it(along with it, it also disappears all my apps which are stored in my memory card. thus i cant access them also.) OR it will just my pendrive but again by making my apps in memory card disappear.(in both the scenario my memory card is unmounted everytime, hence the disappearing of apps.)
2. Issue with Loudspeaker.
I had this issue with My stock rom also(i am just adding it here so that atleast someone here might know the solution.). so the problem goes this way. whenever i tried/try(as in now on cm12.1 and in stock rom) a video/song/any file with sound in it, the loudspeaker just plainly wont work. It was like it had his own mood then whenever it wants it'll otherwise it wont. so This problem is still going on in Cm12.1 since i have installed cm on my Xperia SP device. i just cant figure out the issue as to why this is happening. since when i make a call the front speaker through which we hear also doesn't work. But if i turn loudspeaker option on then it will work properly(the loudspeaker). and i can play songs also at that point of time(this is what is odd in this, ie i can play songs while on call via loudspeaker but i cant play while normally i try to play them.).
3. battery drain issue
every i am using my cellphone and i see that my battery is at 5%. i have to look for charger because. when my cellphone shows me 5% on the very next min it will show me 0% and shut down the system. this is sometimes annoying since it will show 8% (below 10% you can say) and the very next min i get the problem that the system is shutting down. this gets annoying when i am doing some important stuff and i suddenly shuts down
If anyone over here know the solution to this issues, please help me with them. since it is literally frustrating sometime that i have to wait for my cell to soft reboot just to access some data in it.
Thank you.
2. might be a hardware problem (I won't confirm this, wait for other people)
3. It just prevents you from getting into a BIG Problem....(to keep some battery reserved to respond to offline charging)
If you use the Device's Battery to its fullest, It would get completely turned off, and if unluckily if Offline Charging didn't work... Its GONE

Thanks for the reply. I see why in 2nd problem i am facing such issues. but I just hope that on connecting OTG pendrive and cell restarting issue is resolved as soon as possible.
