Does anyone have any experience using a Verizon (VS995) LG V20 in Canada? I'm going to Canada for 10 days and I would like to buy a sim card to use while I'm there. I can't roam because I'm on Straight Talks network and they don't roam in Canada. Does anyone know if this phone will work in Canada and what company's sim card will work best in my phone.

I'm getting conflicting information from Verizon employees as to whether I could use one of their LG G2s in Europe, specifically Switzerland. I don't want to pay Verizon for international roaming. I want to buy a local SIM card and use that. Some tell me it works; others say paying Verizon for international roaming is the only option.
Anyone here know for sure?

You can use a local SIM card with the G2. All current Verizon LTE phones automatically come unlocked and are global ready so you have nothing to worry about.
Good luck and have fun!
As the title, Wondering if my LG G2 Verizon will work on T-Mobile network, I see here and there about this on the internet, but I figure
I'd ask on XDA . So far I hear I'll lose out on LTE, but HSPA is good, which is good enough for me.
Also Verizon LG G2 comes unlocked, if true, Do I pop in my T-Mobile SIM, and out the box working?
I'm interested in this as well. I tried my tmobile sim in a coworkers G2 and it worked on LTE, but I just bought one and tried it and it's showing Roaming and HSPA.
Hello Guys,
What's up? I was wondering if I could buy a sprint LG G2 and can use it for my ATT carrier with unofficial unlock. Pls let me know everything works on sprint LG G2! (4G, ESN etc) Thanks in advance.
Even if Sprint "officially" unlocks your LG G2, it won't work with domestic GSM carriers like AT&T or TMobile. It will work unlocked with international SIM cards and international networks.
So, no.
Considering switching to Tmobile with my LG V20, only paid $350 for it not looking to really switch to T-Mobile variant if I don't need to. Does anyone know if Sprint version will work Flawlessly under Tmobile Network. Any feedback given is appreciated. Thanks.
Did you ever figure out the answer? Thinking of getting the LS997, but might move to T-Mobile when contract ends. Thanks!
Also interested in knowing this, and AT&T?
I think I can be of help here! I used to own a Sprint V20 and got it remotely unlocked to be used with GSM. Everything works great including I got LTE with AT&T. TMo should not be a problem either. My only gripe was the damn phone went into "Hands free activation" on every reboot.
I have since moved on to a Verizon V20 unlocked for GSM and am perfectly happy with that. The only reason I did this was to try Total Wireless in the future. Since I am not going to use Sprint in the foreseeable future, buying a Verizon phone made sense in that I can use Verizon and GSM networks globally.
Anyway, your V20s should be fine with LTE signal from GSM carriers.
Sweet thanks
I've had this thing since early winter, and at first verizon thought it would work. I've even had it log onto verizon towers (via looking at phone info in settings) before
I know the radios for CDMA are missing, but the LTE bands are there. Verizon does NOT REQUIRE phones to support CDMA anymore. Why can't we make the h918 work/register properly on verizon? Yes, it is unlocked.
I'm very interested in this as well.
I have a H918 LG V20, I travel internationally and I use this phone with all SIM cards... But why doesn't it work with a Verizon SIM card?
I have problems with AT&T also for some reason.
I've had previous Android devices like the LG G5 variant and that worked fine on Verizon, AT&T, and Internationally.

I don't use Verizon, but here's my guess:
For calls and SMS to work on a carrier on LTE only, you'll need VoLTE support. And at least for the major U.S. carriers, they each decide through some sort of certification which phones are allowed to get VoLTE. This will be more important in a few years when all the carriers go LTE-only after dropping all 2G/3G/CDMA networks. Currently on Verizon, if a phone can't get VoLTE, it would rely on CDMA for calls and text messages. Since the H918 isn't whitelisted for VoLTE and doesn't have CDMA bands, it won't work properly on Verizon's network. It can only get VoLTE on the T-Mobile network in the U.S.
