Is it possible to enable SlimPort? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

I know LG opted to drop SlimPort capability for the G6. I'd really like to use the SlimPort function, so is there a way to install a driver that would enable that? Is it a hardware or software issue? I'm new to phone mods, so how deep would I have to go to accomplish if it even is possible (root access, custom rom, etc)?

Won't work. Can't be done.

[Q] Direct communication with other Android device?

I'm working to develop an application to use a rooted Nook STR as a handheld data input platform, which then sends the data to another Android device (tablet or phone; TBD) acting as a hub. From what I've been able to determine, the options for communications between the devices are:
Bluetooth
-Possibly available using a dongle, USB OTG cable, and enabling USB host mode as described here. This doesn't seem practical within the time/budget/scale of our application.
Wi-Fi
-Wi-Fi Direct would be ideal, but requires either Android 4.x or a patch/hack to enable it, which I haven't seen anyone working on (correct me if I'm wrong about this)
-Separate Wi-Fi hub to manage communications between the devices
Is there an alternative, implementable within reasonable time and cost, to facilitate device-to-device communications wirelessly and without additional separate hardware? My research hasn't turned up any solutions that aren't extremely awkward, but I'm relatively new to this, so hopefully someone has a better idea or knows of an obvious possibility that I'm missing.

I have not missed root at all

I thought I would, but everything I used to use root for I can do non-rooted now. This has all that I want and more, only a few minor setbacks.
USB OTG for storage, and USB gamepad, keyboards etc...
Wireless HDMI
USB Tethering I use PDA Net
Sideloading applications, provided they are signed, and signing an unsigned application isn't that hard...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can hide the apps (only drawback) but not uninstall them
I can't load kernel modules
Buttons are hardware so changing them is a non-issue
I can't change the battery icon
In fact up until the Lollipop update, the device has been fast, smooth, stable, and did everything I wanted. I think rooting and romming aside, and of course my next phone will be a developer phone, but I can live without root for a little while, this works well. I am off to the Verizon store to replace this so I can get a working Kit-Kat version, if I can get one without the Verizon trampstamp. If not I will just wait for a fix which will be coming shortly.

Gt i9505 mods

Can anyone help me here, I have a surplus galaxy s4 gt i9505, it's basically a broken lcd phone which I want to use solely as a kodi media device. (Streaming from my my cloud and with whatever addons I choose to install into kodi). With an mhl v2 lead connected to my hdmi TV. I'm currently running lollipop 5.0.1 with a custom kernel (so I can draw more than 300ma of power to stop battery drain). Currently I have a constant supply of 700ma of power going to the phone and it's sufficient in keeping the battery at 100 percent while I use kodi. My question is, is there a rim I can flash that has no fone function whatsoever, I would only need maybe Google playstore and basic functions like WiFi Bluetooth etc. Just wanting a minamalistic Tom that's got no background tasks running so all the performance will be soley used for kodi. Obviously what ever tomorrow suggested must be able to support a custom kernel for fast charge over USB and support mhl. I know I'm asking a lot but any help or pointers in the right direction would expect a massive help. Thanks?
AOSP rom by the JDC team maybe. They have lollipop and marshmallow. Both have alucard kernel as default kernel. They are also minimalistic. The marshmallow version doesn't even have a sms app. Nor do they have file explorers.
Edit: Marshmallow roms might have bluetooth streaming issues at the moment. So that only leaves lollipop aosp.

Thanks for the advice, myonly question before i try it is do you know if this has usb debugging enabled by default ? the reason i ask is that with me not having a screen connected to the phone the only way i can get access to it is with vysor (chrome extenstion) so i can set it all up remotely over usb adb. thanks.

The marshmallow versions seem to have it enabled. Don't know about lollipop. But you could extract the zip and modify the build.prop to add the line to enable adb, then compress everything and hopefully it should work.
Mods
Thanks ks again for the advice will do as you advice, just 1 more question if you wouldn't mind answering. Does it support mhl ? Mhl v2.0 in my case as my TV doesn't support mhl powering so I have to use the charge mod in stweaks to change the USB charge amount to 1000ma, (which I get 700ma) but works fine. Thanks ks again.
This is a bit beyond me, sorry.
I don't have a compatible tv to stream to, so I don't know.

[Question] OTG & USB Capabilities

Hey XDA!
Just thought I'd drop a question your way as I've been trying to find an answer throughout the web for the last three days, but found nobody who can answer it. So, I wondered if you guys could be the ones to answer my question!
I'm running CM12 Android 5.1.1 on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - SM-N9005 (Unlocked), and I'm attempting to route a USB webcam through to being the default camera for my phone. I was wondering, if there is somewhere in the many yonder of files throughout Android if there is a way to change this.
My phone has two cameras, but neither of which are fixed in one location, and due to wanting to use a USB webcam (Logitech C615 HD) I thought it might be useful to run and use as opposed to my standard cameras built into the device. Is it possible to do this -
Webcam -> USB -> OTG -> Phone -> Android (Instead of hardware camera, use USB camera, for apps like WhatsApp, Skype etc)
Please don't point out the software on Google play for this, I've installed every one of them promising to enable USB Webcam feed, and while they work, they only work within their respective applications. Which sucks.

LG K20+ - Screen Mirroring/Miracast with root?

So I was curious - those of you who have rooted the K20+ are you now able to use Miracast devices? I've gotten my MetroPCS K20+ to work with Chromecast but I need it to work with a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter but LG/MetroPCS both say the phone doesnt support miracast however i did see a post that mentioned rooted it does. This is literally the only thing I need different on my phone. I dont need a custom rom just the cast option. is this doable? or should i not bother? Thanks!
