I bought the Le Pro 3 ten months ago but I was gifted an 256gb iphone and put it away. I want to put a custom rom on it and all the guides I am seeing are saying to go from 18/19/20+. Am I okay to go from 17s on the X720? I cant get updates because its a chinese seller rom.
They don't support their phones very well.
You can manually update your phone.
I think your model is the international one the bootloader might be unlocked already not a 100%on that.
Study well before trying anything.

Same boat here. I see the lineageos 14 thread mentions needing a higher version bootloader, but not sure how to do that.
Are you on 17s if so just update to 20s.
If your not stock that could be a bit of work.
Their are guides on this stuff.

Would running 20s through twrp work? As in it would update bootloader modem etc?
I've run official zips on nexus phones via twrp before and it worked fine. Twrp converts the installer or something.
My bootloader is from 19s and have flashed everything

Do we need to unlock any bootloader before rooting this device?
No you don't, since there is no unlock method for now. Just root it with the methods provided on xda, there are several topics about it. And install your choice of custom recovery, then u good to go.

I did some searching trying to find what version the update is ...do you know if I have the ota updated version or the old one?
According to your software version this should work for you.

I'm sorry can WHAT be flashed on your phone? What phone do you have? What have you done to said phone?
To answer the question you asked... NO, you cannot flsh [sic] "it" on your phone, if you had the ability to do so you would not need to ask the question.
The new firmware update

No, don't even try, YOU cannot flash the new firmware update. I would recommend using the over the air, OTA, upgrade or having someone assist you if you have rooted or otherwise modified the phone and need to pursue an upgrade outside of the OTA upgrade process.
To expand on my statement above.
You have a Sprint LS980 from the title of your first post. You never mentioned by name what you attempting to flash despite being asked directly. The concern here is that you are trying to flash the wrong upgrade. You have not indicated if your phone is rooted or if you have a customer recovery like TWRP or Philz CWM. Without knowing if you have the ability to do so it is impossible to recommend that you try.
You could have a completely stock phone and there would be no method or reason for you to flash an upgrade. You could be rooted and need to flash an upgrade, but may be trying to flash the wrong thing. Even if you have the right firmware to flash and need to do so you have not indicated if you are having any problems and do not seem to have the ability to communicate your current state to allow someone else to assist you.
Every link I follow to get a recovery that can flash a 4.4 rom I d801 either takes me to the recovery I already have or to another variant. Is neither cwm or twrp no longer supporting recoveries for the d801? I broke down an decided to ask a question I'm sure has been asked before, because I've looked for days and came up with nothing. I just need a flashable zip to update with I have.

Hi im wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I just flashed Omega rom 7.0 with no problems but then i flashed the new bootloader using Odin and it was successful too but for some reason when i check the bootloader version its still the old one.
I figured it out. Make sure to power down completely first and then boot into download mode and then flash thru Odin that way.

What is all about that new bootlader? Do I need to flash it? What has changed?
Thank you!
If you want to use the stock kernels you have to flash the new bootloader. Things like screen casting to a smart TV can only be done with stock kernels.

I'm currently running a rooted kitkat based custom rom (purity). I'll eventually want to run a custom lollipop based rom once the dust settles a bit, but don't want to revert back to stock for the ota, and don't want to manually flash a stock 5.0 rom either.
Since I'll need the new bootloader eventually, is there a twrp flashable file for the new bootloader available which I can flash now in preparation for future 5.0 based roms?
Don't have a decent usable pc handy, so if I could do everything straight from the manta itself that would be great.
(crap, wrong forum, sorry)
I haven't seen one, but if you download the image you should be able to use flashify. I have not tested though, so be careful.

I'm looking for a flashable zip too! I had problems using flashify and my Mac doesn't detect my N10 in fastboot mode
