Can not install TWRP with KF Utility

KF Utility is stuck at the <waiting for device> script
It also says
adb can not run as root in production builds.
the command prompt says <idme> invalid permissions.
and i notice in the video that it's supposed to reboot in fastboot and it doesn't do anything.
can anyone help? Nothing is working so far.
Dumb question, but are you rooted?

yeah, with burritoroot2
i think, well, i know i'm rooted, i just don't know if its with that or burritoroot3
I had the same problem. After the 6.2.2 update, I rerooted with burritoroot2. Apps requiring root work fine, but I was unable to use KFU 0.9.2 to install TWRP. So I basically followed the directions in this post and KFU was able to install TWRP.
Drivers
Make sure that your device manager has the fire listed as composite adb and not just adb. Sounds like you are having driver issues.

I figured it out. my ADB wasn't rooted on my computer itself. I must have messed up something while i was in the command prompt. My kindle was rooted, but my computer wasn't recognizing it as being so.
I now to CM7! and i love it!
Another dumb question: how do I know if I'm rooted
Is there a way to display the status (rooted or not)? Or do I always have to run the Kindle Fire Utility to check the status of my Kindle?
there are apps on the market like rootchecker

there is an app called root check
download, install and give it superuser permissions.
when you root it, it should stay rooted unless you tell it to not be rooted anymore.
or are you talking about the computer?
if you do the command prompt sequence for burritoRoot it should stay rooted.
Thanks.
I'm still getting used to the concept of rooting. I forget that it's more permanent that a network connection between the PC and Kindle Fire. I will download an app just to satisfy myself that things don't change in the way of root status, unless I change it.
Have a good weekend.
Thanks.

rooting kindle fire with gingerbreak

Is it possible to use gingerbreak to root kindle fire 6.2.2?
NOTICE: Gingerbreak is an exploit that has been fixed in many of the latest Android versions and releases. If it does not work, it does not work. I can't "fix" the exploit, you will have to wait for a new exploit to come out, or root a different way!

so the answer is no - burritoroot3 is the current root method:

Is their any app that can directly root kindle fire?
Check out Vashypooh's Kindle Fire Utility here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
Plug in your Kindle via USB and run the option you want from the first menu that pops up. It doesn't get much easier than that.
Thx guys! I'm gonna root very soon now. KF utility works with 6.2.2, right?
KFU works well for 6.2.2 for windows
KindleWater for mac.

[Q] kindle fire 6.3 update root

I had my kindle fire rooted when it updated to 6.2 using kindle fire utility 0.93 and boorritoroot3! All was well until the 6.3 update!
Now I still have the superuser and boorritoroot3 files but when it opens it doesnt show any triangle of the previous rooting!
If I use the kindle fire utility 0.94 or 0.95 and install the superuser permanetly again
will there be a problem? Will I be rooted?
I read that the utility has some issues with the superuser...will it destroy the superuser file that I already have or it'll be just fine?
would just reinstall twrp with newest kfu
if you have superuser allready there should be no problem
if you have any problems with kfu this post from ndpete should help:

Sorry for asking childish questions but...( I dont live in the us so I cannot afford to do anything stupid..that I'll not be able to undo)
I had already installed the drivers when I first rooted my kindle for the 6.2 ver. with the kindle fire utility v0.93.I suppose I dont have to do that again...?
I just have to plug it and run the "run.bat" file of the kindle fire utility v.0.95, press 2 (install superuser permanently) and wait for it to be rooted, and I''l be ok?
should be as you say - nevertheless it may be possible that you have to reinstall the drivers during the process - take care of the "known tricks" in the op of kfu

[TUT] [MAC] Unlocking your Kindle Fire HDX 7 Bootloader

Hello, welcome to my to my guide on how to unlock your Kindle Fire HDX 7's bootloader. This guide is for mac.
I will be nicknaming the Kindle Fire HDX 7 as thor.
I will be assuming you have TWRP and flashed the .3.2.3 bootloader upgrade and ADB/Fastboot.
Steps:
Go and get python 2.7.X (X = Doesn't matter.)
Open up a terminal window and paste this command in:
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"
Click to collapse
Now, press enter.
So, now what to do? Well, heres the next thingy
Type this in the terminal:
brew install gcc
brew install mpc
brew install mpfr
Click to collapse
Done.
Now type:
pip install gmpy2
Click to collapse
BAM! You should now have GMPY2 installed.
Now, download this:
cuberHDX.py
Place on desktop.
Open up a ADB Window and type:
./adb shell
cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/manfid
cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/serial
Click to collapse
Now, type the last 2 digits of your manfid and serial.
M = last 2 digits of Manfid Serial = Your serial code
MMSERIAL
Okay, now open up a terminal window and go to your desktop/folder with cuberHDX.py
Type in this:
./cuberHDX.py 0xMMSERIAL
Click to collapse

Next drag that file into where your fastboot is
Now, type in this:
./fastboot -i 0x1949 devices
Click to collapse
Your device should pop up.
./fastboot -i 0x1949 flash unlock 0xmmssssssss.unlock
Click to collapse
Next, wait 5 seconds.
Now, check your screen if it says UNLOCK CODE CORRECT, or something similar. If it doesn't, make a new file with the correct MMSERIAL Code.
./fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot
Click to collapse
BAM! you now have a unlocked bootloader THOR.
If any problems please type in the comments below.

Judging by your sig, you must of had 13.4.5.2 installed. You can't unbrick now, cause you fried your device not reading my guide right.
Little help please

Make sure your device is in airplane mode so it won't attempt to download any OTA updates in the background.
For root access, you can just use towelroot. From there, you can find instructions for TWRP on this thread. thor is the codename for the HDX 7, while apollo references the 3rd generation HDX 8.9 (so you'll obviously want the first one). Alternatively — instead of using adb — you could also flash it straight from the device itself using Flashify.

You should obviously be fine if you enabled WiFi for a few minutes, but you can install apps directly through adb.
https://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html#commandsummary
Getting there
So i have rooted and installed twrp... i am to the fast boot step. I enter the first fast boot command and it does not return anything. just goes to a new line like nothing happened.

Would've helped if i actually put it in fast boot mode. I now have an unlocked boot loader. Thank you both for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

Trouble downgrading to 5.3.1

Hi all,
I'm trying to downgrade from 5.3.2 on a fire HD 8 back to 5.3.1 so I can root. I can't get windows to accept the driver from rootjunky's supertool (update-kindle-global-37.5.5.2_user_552153420.bin) and thus I can't get ADB USB debugging. can someone try to assist? I'm running windows 10 and am a rooting newbie basically.
thank you!
can't root 5.3.1 either
PS ".bin" is not the driver. I believe I got the kindle drives from amazon's site but look in the rootjunky folder called "usb_driver" and try kindledrivers.exe or manually via the .inf files from inside device manager

Why? You can't root it anyway, unless you have the 2015 version.
