How was the phone unrooted? Did you run a root checker to see if the phone is still rooted?
Yea

Google man, Google or use the XDA forum search. This topic has been discussed here before. It's more or less a glitch and you can cure it by using the chain fire triangle away app.

Hi I have an s4 and when it starts up it shows a padlock and says Samsung custom. Is there a way to take this off? I am a newbie so I may need dummy instructions. And second when I try to update my phone to Kitkat it doesn't fond the update. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

Are you happened to be rooted or have disabled any apps? At every single boot the system scans for these things, though I don't think it would prevent you from getting an update, just give it a Lil more time.

Sorry for that last post. It was a test because I couldn't post for some reason

You get the custom only if you have made modifications to the system partition and that can happen only if you are rooted
Well I did have to send it in for a repair and the guy rooted it. I ended up removing the root via the superuser app option.

You need to Odin back to stock. My little friend named SEARCH found them for you. Good luck & thank the op in the thread please.

I rooted yesterday and applied greenify today. When I rebooted after applying the module I had an unlocked lock on boot. What does this mean? I didn't have a lock on that screen previously.

It basically just means that the stock firmware has been modified I believe.

Anyone getting there install button broken after using exposed on s5?

if you disable KLMS Agent, it will trip the custom software. re-enabling it brings it back to official.

any change to build.prop will trigger that open lock and "custom" on the first Samsung screen
Thanks all, everything seems to be running fine so I'm not overly concerned, it was just an obvious difference.

I boot phone up and it goes to only red Verizon screen. I am rooted and have safe strap installed with no issues. Then I use Odin and flash a kernal that I thought was needed due to my version. Flash worked but it will not boot. I tried to install a back up and no luck

I've received this phone as a gift and I had to switch service providers at the same time. The phone is the Verizon variant, but I am on the t-mobile service. I have two questions.
1). Which forum on XDA would be associated with my phone?
2). How would I root my phone correctly. (Towelroot does not work).
Thanks. I am new to this forum, so if this is obvious to most, I apologize.

Theres a verizon s5 section, you can actually get to lollipop, and towelroot is going to be your method you jsut need to downgrade.

That would be great, because I haven't seen anything specifically for my model and Android version.

Heres my question... WHY... Thats literally probably the supersu installer renamed. Ripping off @Chainfire
It requires you to already have twrp installed. Its pointless.
Its his beta. A click on the link takes you to Chainfire's download.

Oh then All it is is the normal root procedure.
Looks like the root method used on the Sammy Vibrant. Only problem is the lack of a factory recovery. Needs the "reinstall packages" option. Oh well.
