Samsung fan boy here, always rooted everything. Handing in my note 7 for refund and want the Korean LG V20 off ebay. Anyone know if Korea locks bootloaders? I live in Canada eh

Not sure, I don't think we ever got root on the Korean V10 I want root to move the bottom buttons and use a pie launcher

Christ, talk about being overdramatic. Anyway I bought mine from mygsm.me and now I wish I had bought from eBay and none of this customs duty would have applied. I have had friends who bought from them and never got stung. I was unfortunate.

They answer me that their model comes from Taiwan, so I presume it is H990DS.
Mine form eGlobal is on the way and probably at home on Monday.
I will let you know asap.

Currently, the two Dual Sim models are H990DS and H990N. The H990DS seems to mainly come from Taiwan. I got mines from Taiwan via eBay. I've contacted LG Mobile Singapore and their variant is also the H990DS. Perhaps there are more Asian countries that sell the same model?
Hong Kong seems to be the only one carrying the H990N.
According to this site, the H990DS and H990N are fairly similar in terms of LTE band support, with the H990N supporting 2 additional bands.

The big difference is the category of LTE.
H990DS is faster (cat.12) than H990N (cat.6) in upload/download.

Probably when more bootloaders get unlocked.
Right now only two variants have it officially unlocked and the majority of development rests on whether or not the rest will get unlocked.
Looking at history, I'm regretting not knowing the model of my phone before purchase.
Now I'm stuck with an H873 I can't do anything with.

I was careful to buy the European version H870 .. certainly, less equipped, but unlockable.
I come from a LG G4 that had bootloop (H815) :crying:, and also, only the European version is unlockable.

I believe a big factor is the patch level... right now mine is on 10R which I believe is un-rootable.

H918 would be the best bet. Just patch lvl is what will kill you. Need anything below 10P

We can't root H870S. Not yet.
G6 variants other than H870 and US997 are impossible to unlock at the moment and probably will never be unlockable.
