LG Smart Doctor - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hello everyone, I've been thinking about disabling Smart Doctor and all related apps (smart doctor webview and smart cleaning). I know it's a useful app but I prefer using other apps for phone optimization. My question is, will these cause issues in the phone? (i.e. random reboots, overheating, lag). Thanks

No issues here.

No issues Works fine

Killed my phone...
I wouldnt say that it was/might have been 100% the smart doctor's doing, but ill explain what happend:
So, first, as usuall, i open up my smart doctor and optimize the phone. After optimizing, there was a notice on the dignosis button saying that it's better if i restart my phone more regulary. So, as requested, i pressed the restart button(not with the manual power button but a icon written "restart".), aaand it just broke, started a bootloop and its been like that ever since. The funny thing is, my phone(which is a LG V30 btw) was ONLY 3-4 weeks old(with no physical damage whatsoever). For now, im speculating that it was the games fault for heating up my phone and fried my motherbord. But it felt little too weird that it broke after the smart doctor's request to restart the phone. Fortunately, ive got my warrenty so i should get a new phone anytime soon. And this time, im going to test it out how long it would last if i dont download any games, and still use smart doctor to see who was the culprit behind the breakdown of my phone. What do you guys think? Im guessing since the model is different(most of you guys have G6 right?) So the outcome or the situation might be a little different. But that was my experience...(sort of in shock now cuz the last phone i had was a G4 and the same stuff is happening with V30 and even quicker)

I think it was "unlucky" a Monday device :laugh: my old G4 has not motherboard errors, but display creak and burned in

Many Problems with my LG G2 or is it just me?

Hello everyone I just made a account here but i have visited here before .. really great content and files. So I recently purchased a LG G2 from t-mobile(D801) as a upgrade from my Nexus 4 i was going to get a note 3 but they ran out of those so i went with the second best option the LG G2 as i read many great reviews about this phone and customer satisfaction was great. The back buttons are not a problem for me at times they are a bit annoying but for the most part its good. Before i talk about what I find weird on this device let me just say that the Battery life and display are the only things I like in the phone and enjoyed since purchace a week ago. FIRST.. The phone is just slow ... going through homescreens and opening app drawer , going through settings can be laggy sometimes which I find surprising i know the interface is craploaded but the device has a snapdragon 800.. does it?? feels like it does not. also the very heavily praised LG G2 OIS 13 Megapixel camera i find EXTREAMLY BAD now im no photographer but i take photos just like any other teenager and find the images to be blurry a lot very pixelated (i dont know what its called) and slow where is this ''stabilization'' there is seriously something wrong with the camera i cant get a good image ... i might post some later for you to see. Now the last part i realized is that it today turned off for no reason and restarted so i had my phone on standby i turn it on unlock the screen and right after that it takes me to the stage where im turning on the phone like if i shut it down. This was fixed when i factory reset my phone I had no weird apps just social media , gta vice city and antutu (duh!) but i feel like this will happen again probably and the phone is just suckish for me ... maybe i got a bad unit.. i would want to trade this in even for a older s4 now.. but i already ordered a cover thats quite expensive and yeh... maybe t-mobile can replace it i mean the things gotta be broken Lol.. or just SUCKS!
what do you guys think.. im asking you since everywhere on the internet i cant find someone with my problems ...
all replies will be very appreciated

It is not that the phone is slow it is that the lg version of android more that likely bogs down that phone. If it is anything like my s4 if you root it and put a custom ROM on it like CyanogenMod than it will be really fast and there well be no lag at all

OP: I wonder if you got a bad device. The G2 is not perfect but I am not having the issues you are describing and I am running 100% stock, unrooted.
To OP: Dude, just go back and get them to replace it. You clearly got a bad device.
There's no need to join XDA just to rant about a faulty device. Show them and Tmo should be able to replace it.

Bought new Lg gpad 8.3 My story!

Dear all,
I just Bought the Lg G pad 8.3, 5 days ago and want to tell you my story i faced.
I just purchased and i was too excited for its screen, light weight and good specs.. But when i bought within 2 days without installing many apps i got Over heating issues with watching you tube. my tab used to restart with a msg that its over heating and needs to restart. Even i was not able to move my brightness of screen to its max level. Then finally i thought to order a replacement. and after 3 days i went back and Replaced it with other one. New of course. and this time again my bad luck the hearing issue still exits but not as bad as earlier also speaker sound comes disturbing there is kind of glitches and sound is not good in full volume...
I don't know if anyone else here is facing over heating problem? or other issues or its only me??
Do shoot your stories and comments here..
Thanks,
Sounds like you are having bad luck. While there are some shortcomings on the unit mine has been solid and my main complaint is purely the screen gama issues. I'm hoping someone can inject a fix into a customer kernel like they did for the V510

Ditto. Never had any overheating problem.
Mine gets warm after an hour or two of straight gameplay but not watching a movie.exchange it again.
I had no idea they even shown an Overheating Msg.. Maybe you should try a different Vendor if you have that option.. Try to get one from another batch.. Are you also saying you have speaker issues with the stock LG ROM? In most cases, it's the loudest speaker option without adding something like Viper..

Lg G4 Canadian variant H812 touchscreen issues

Hi, I have looked through the threads but haven't found info, wanted to see what fellow Canadian owners have done in regards to the touchscreen issue. Also wanted to add this thread as to show another variant having issues, Rogers was unaware until I called them and they saw xda threads. They were helpful but unfortunately advised have to wait for LG to send an update. I have tried all of the suggestions for the other variant phones including installing SGS touchscreen booster and unfortunately nothing helped. Have the Rogers variant and was wondering if others have found a solution temporarily. Rogers hasn't received the lg keyboard update yet. Thanks all.

I'm on Rogers, and SGS fixed my issues. All the US carriers are releasing updates as we speak, so I can only assume the Canadian carriers will follow soon. LG is getting returns because of this issue, so you can bet they will be all over a fix.
As for Rogers being unaware of the issue...that's bull. They always say that. Rogers knows.

Thanks for the reply. Awesome to hear SGS worked for you. Did you do anything else, developer options etc? I will perform another factory reset and try again. Hope I can get it working, pain in the arse having the missing touches. Hopefully rogers does it sooner than later.
OP, there's another post for CDN models here. LINK
I am also experience pretty annoying touch screen issues, and I can't even exchange with WIND since they claim they're out of stock.

I didn't change anything in my developer options (other than disabling all animations). My Touchscreen issues weren't bad to begin with, and I DO NOT use the stock keyboard. Both of those are most likely why SGS helped me.
Thx for the info guys, I will read through the cdn section and start using swift key with sgs.
I think this whole issue is overrated. Yes, I get the occasional miss but so what? Same thing has happened with every smart phone I've owned. Maybe I didn't tap hard enough, maybe I did. But why does the occasional miss get people's knickers in such knots. It has virtually no effect on the user experience with this great phone.

I wouldn't say that. You might not be getting the issue as others are. Apparently it's pretty bad with some phones.
If you didn't know, the LG G2 had a huge issue with its touchscreen where the top portion of the screen stopped working, edge to edge, so people couldn't tap on anything in that portion of the screen.
The G3 also had its issues and now G4. LG clearly needs to change their touchscreen/digitizers and use someone else's if they're incapable of reliability.
Anyways, I was coming here to start a new thread and ask if someone tried the version from Wind to see if it has the touchscreen issue before I buy the phone. Thank you to the person who mentioned it !!

It might not be too apparent for other people, but on mine it's been getting worse. Someone mentioned before that it actually seems issues get worse as the phone gets hotter.
Not sure how much of that is true, but it kills the experience for me.

I have WIND one, and the issue is there.
It started off being hardly noticed now and could seem to be my mistake. Now it's much worse and every other swipe registers as a type, taps are missing around 50 - 60%. Can't get it exchanged either since WIND claims their sold out of G4's in the GTA region, with an exception of one return for an S6.
Not entirely sure I will keep my G4 as much as I love it.

I think going for the S6 is the best choice. I'm considering the 3 phones, M9, g4, s6. S6 seems to be the least buggy, as usual. M9 has its hardware issues or I'd get it.

Honestly every phone has it's quirks, by no means will your S6 have no chance of issues. You can check out the S6 forum on XDA for more info.
Even with that being said, this LG G4 touch screen issue seems pretty big IMO in comparison to the number of issues on the S6.
Apart from Touchscreen issues, are you guys getting the Wi-fi issue?

Check the S6 forums at Android Central. The S6 is a train wreck of issues compared to the G4.
Overheating, dead gyroscope, lagging, front camera purple dots, horrid battery life....

To be fair, some of those aren't real issues that ONLY affect the S6.
"Overheating" seems like almost a loose term as people complain about their phones getting hot, but it happens to nearly every android phone.
Lagging "issue" seems to be something people will always complain about with every new phone for some reason, heck there's even post about it here.
"Horrid battery life" isn't really that bad. Yes the G4 is better, but even then people still complain about having a issues with it.
I still think having touch screen issues is the worse, especially since the updates for the US seemed to have fixed it for some while others are still plagued by it.
It leaves me in a state indecisiveness where I love this phone and want to believe it can be fixed via software or I should just cut my losses and exchange to an S6 while I can.
I agree with you. Overheating is going to be an issue for any high end phone going forward, because processors keep getting more powerful (with no active cooling), and phones keep getting thinner. Overheating is also subjective. Most people feel their phone getting warm and assume it's overheating. If it doesn't warn you and start throttling, it's not overheating.
Battery life is totally subjective as no two users are the same. Screen on time is the worst way to measure battery life. Someone surfing the net is going to get a lot more screen on time than someone gaming and watching 4k videos.
LG G4 Touch screen issue is present in Canada as well
I am reposting my reply on this Canadian thread:
To all Canadian LG G4 buyers, the touch screen problem is alive and present in Canada as well. I bought a Wind Mobile LG G4, everything was fine at first but once I plugged it into the charger, it started to to miss touches and being unresponsive (the touches won’t register on the first try) the good test is when you double tap to wake or sleep OR when you go to phone’s setting and touch “about phone” or something else and it misses the first touch. It SHOULD NOT miss any touches, period. I put it next it to my LG G3 and on my LG G3 double tap to wake and sleep worked every time and no missed touches in the phone setting either, when it was plugged into the charger.. but it didn’t work on LG G4 which is unacceptable for $700 phone, once again it only happens when you PLUGGED IT in to the charger, if its disconnected it works fine. I returned that phone

Is anybody else's G4 Glitching?

So I was wondering if anybody else with the Moto G4 were having any glitches right now mine is doing stuff without even touching it, I didn't even drop in water or on the cement, it closes apps randomly and the notifications sometimes will not close, If anyone else is EXPERIENCING these problems please let me know and if you have an answer please tell me!
-ConradVertz
I have also experience some glitching, but not that severe. It has glitched while using Firefox or videos apps. What I have done is basically reboot. It doesn't happen frequently and I am not sure if its because of the low 2GB ram or memory it has. I assume the ram gets consume and the phone starts acting up. I know Firefox and video apps tend to use a lot of ram. If I am using it normally, I don't experience the Glitching. That's the only reasoning I can come up with.
Not experienced this on the G4, but i had a similar experience on my old phone, the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6. The touchscreen regularly registered activity when i was nowhere near it, and touches were off-sync. The problem on that phone started after abnormal pressure was applied to the screen (friend nicked the phone and it resulted in a tug of war with it). Have you pressed the screen very hard, or applied more pressure to it than is normal in any way?
My G4 kept self pressing the home button (phantom touch). It activated Google Now On Tap as a result. I rebooted the phone and it went anyway. Only happened once. My phone is a stock Amazon edition.
This is the reason I returned my g4 for the honor 5x. I use my GPS for work a lot. During navigation it kept ghost touching and had to pull over after a reboot. Kept happening. I'm surprised this isn't all over XDA. I found a lot of people talking g about it on reddit.

To be fair, that isn't but a fraction of 1% of the phones that have been sold. It's also true that a huge number of people haven't bothered making a post out of the blue saying their Moto G4 has had no ghost touches. Do a search for Honor 6x problems and you'll also find numerous problems reported. I'm not necessarily defending Moto because I've had issues of my own buy I've owned the Moto G2, Moto G3, Huawei, LG, Nokia, and Samsung and they've all had issues also.

Oh I know that 5x has issues. I understand the issues reported are small. But for me if a phone doesn't work and I get it exchanged and that phone does it as well, I hate wasting time and money. I'm not going to wait for software updates to fix out of the box issues. The honor 5x has issues but to me they are negligible out of the box. I do miss the g4 and almost went back. Bit I have to have something usable and feel burned.

3 of my last 4 phone purchase were V20s
(We have 7 lines)
My wife got an S9 and I don't see any need to get one or spend three times the price on anything that's been released this year.
The pricing has gotten ridicules and really the one plus 6 is the only other phone that has sparked any interest here. And even it is just not worth double the price of a V20 to me.

V20 stock is running low, mostly refurbs and used ones out there. If you got the itch, scratch it if you want, but based on the horrible non support of the V20 by LG I'd move on from LG altogether

I am keeping mine until I can get the Asus ROG Phone.
Stay with it until the phone dies. No way to upgrade. Not all all! This phone is amazing. Good DAC, good camera, good microphones, 3,5mm in, swappable battery, wide angle camera. I'll stay with mine hopefully for years! But I have to admit that I don't give a **** about updates. Had my galaxy note 4, which unfortunately died, for 2,5 years running with kitkat.
I've got the 918. With the LAF root method, FM radio, removable battery, IR Blaster, wired headphone option... I'm not upgrading anytime soon.
Best phone I've had since the HTC Evo Supersonic.

Not sure what you mean about battery backup.
I am still using stock battery but have a zero lemon extended battery for when it starts to go.
The zero lemon bicycle and windshield mounts are great if you use a protective case with the stock battery btw.
I'm now on my second V20, which just had the vibrato motor die on it, but otherwise works perfectly. My ONLY bones to pick: it can't be rooted because of the last OTA update to Oreo, and if you happen to test a lot of apps as I do, it's a power-hungry beast. If I were to upgrade at this point, I would probably go back to a Note 9, since my V20 replaced my rooted Note 4.
The thing I love most about this phone, however - and its a "biggie", for me - is the fact that it's the last flagship phone on the market with a removable battery. I don't care that it's already two gens behind, simply because it quite capably does everything I need it to do, including music player, photography and video recording, casting, and NFC functions, so until someone comes out with an embedded battery, feature-rich phone that REALLY wows me, I see no reason to upgrade. Hope this helps.
Cheers

The removable battery is one of the major reasons why I'll use the V20 indefinitely. Too many people have had to buy a new phone after 2 years because the battery died... or pay a lot for a battery replacement.
Same here on the notion of the removable battery. Maybe it's what you grew up with that determines your preference, but I like a phone that I can work on even if I don't need to. I really love the IR blaster. In fact, that's the reason I went back to it. I fancy controlling the TV in whatever restaurant I go! My only issue is the charging port is going bad and I'd like to de-bloat all Sprint's crap. Currently seeking a "How To" if there is one to be found.
I went from a note 4 to this and I'm very happy.
For me... it was the removable battery, screen ratio and I love the second screen.
Love the fact I can see the time while watching Netflix. Or turn on the flashlight with out messing with the phone.
Screen ratio... Movies/tv shows work without wasted space.
Sure, it's not lightening fast like my wife's s8... But the milliseconds I wait don't add up to much. Except the the big bucks I saved. Camera is pretty good, so much to love about this phone.
Also love the flat screen, so much less prone to breaking. Most of the bloatware can be disabled, even without root. Working hot-spot on sprint (with hack) is priceless too.
Apart from battery being changeable, I like that it is easy to repair. I shifted the thermal paste, and that was an easy task. I don't know any other phone where that would be the case. On top of that, I use the audio on high quality headphones. What a shame that LG stops updating, and then also make it difficult for our developers, too.

Tell me more of this thermal paste shift. Why would you do it, where, how... all that good stuff. Or a link
the link is here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/changed-thermal-paste-h910-t3782765
It did not make a huge difference for me since I am not using my phone for gaming, but the existing paste in my phone were definitely upon for being removed
Thanks for the link. I followed it and several other articles that it links to. It's not really definitive on if it's a good idea or not. Like you, I don't use it for gaming so I think I'll pass on it. At least until I decide to replace the screen. Saw a post about rooting and altering the profile so it can't run that hot... also not doing that.
Despite the short-coming of the V20 such as battery life and say...CPU Throttling for battery/temps (just delete Thermal-engine-8996.conf), and some weird episodes of LCD burn-in (solvable with KCAL kernels like mk2000), this phone still works well. The only hard-limit that can't be solved, through tweaking, is the fact the SD820 only has 4 CPU threads to execute tasks on. Other than that, the day-to-day of the V20 competes with other phones well-enough.
I agree with everybody else in here. In terms of features, the following phone finder search gives you a good idea about what the current alternatives are:

...and I'd like to de-bloat all Sprint's crap. Currently seeking a "How To" if there is one to be found.

I haven't seen any Sprint-specific bloat discussions here, probably since most of the old Sprint-based ROMs are already de-bloated. If you are on an unrootable LS997, then here is a brief discussion on the V20 Subreddit about using adb or a package disabler app to remove bloatware.

Thanks for this. I'll have to try it out soon.
