Hey guys,
I am thinking of buying Samsung Galaxy S8 from Microsoft store, because it's offering $150 off. I was just wondering if it'll be a better option than Original version? As, Microsoft apps will be implemented on top of it, it's most likely to be bloated. My question is, can I delete the apps like Cortana, outlook etc and download my preferred apps?
It'll be great, if anyone who is using this Microsoft edition phone, can share some experience with the phone.
Also, is there any good deals on Blackfriday on Unlocked galaxy S8 US version? All the deals I saw were on contract.
Thank you!

I think the Microsoft apps will be installed as System apps. So without root, you may not be able to uninstall them.
Windows phones failed for a reason. You buy an S8 for a reason and it's not Microsoft.

Release date Friday March 11th countrywide for all Canadian carriers. Bell, Rogers, Telus, Wind and Videotron confirmed.
I have pre-ordered my S7 edge black onyx for bell.
Anyone else pre-order yet?
Model information:
Exynos chipset confirmed.
S7 G930W8
S7 Edge G935W8
The only reason I'm not getting the s7 is because the Canadian version is only exynos and does not work for me because I root and change roms.

I ordered mine from Best Buy. Black S7 Edge (really wanted the grey tho). Ya, I was reading about the exynos chip. The only thing that interests me is xposed, do you guys think that we would have that at least? I hate the advertising on youtube. I believe it will be fast enough for me not to want any roms (cross fingers).
I still not fully decided tho, I got a Note 4 and works fine but always attracted to new shinny tech
I ordered from Samsung. I went to Bell first but they wouldn't let me order because I wasn't about to sign a contract. Good thing, promo with Samsung is way better, and I get it unlocked.
I don't like the chip either, rather have the 820, but I had a S5 with a Snapdragon and I couldn't find a good ROM with that. I'm going to try this S7 with the stock ROM. I figure with Nova + Icon pack + Material design theme will make TouchWiz mostly a non-issue. And any bloatware I can't uninstall, or disable I figure I can just take away all permissions and hide from the homescreen and app drawer.
I could live with root only and keep stock rom but I NEED viper for Android and if I'm not mistaken v4a does not work on exynos, I could be wrong...

you mean samsung.ca??? what option did you select for carrier? If i select Rogers it takes me to the Rogers site. Or do you mean you got an international version unlocked??? how.. me interested since apparently Samsung has figured out to permanently locked the carrier to the phone. Basically the first sim (carrier) is loaded to the phone will be permanently locked.
I am with ya man. I had the s6 and note 5 and both run exynos7420. Viper4android worked perfectly.

The only snapdragon versions are being sold in USA and China. You think no development for exynos for the rest of the world?
I had the s6 and note 5 and development for both were excellent.
Pre-ordered mine at Wind, I'm pretty excited. I'm also happy that we get the Exynos version as it will make for greater commonality/compatibility with the rest of the world. I'm hoping it'll make for faster updates?

Samsung retail store at Sherway Gardens in Toronto. You don't have to pick a carrier there. Don't think you can order it online.
They sales rep said it will lock when you put your SIM in, but they provide you with an unlock code. You also get the VR and a 128GB microSD card, that's a better promo than anyone else has.

wow, that is awesome plus a great bonus bonus extra! I am going there tonite and cancelling my Best Buy one!!! so global (i am assuming international) is the SM-G935F, is that what you ordered? (I will confirm tonite). I hope We get to chose colors rather than just black. Thanks!!!
Ya, also if everyone is getting exynos (except our friends and US and China), I would guess support will be improved. Now i am pumped.

Don't know version it is. If you're going, ask about the microSD card. They only told me about the VR but I've seen several people comment online that the memory card is included also.
I think you can get other colors, but the black is the only one that will be available on the 11th from what I've read.
will check it out and post my findings.
All Canadian versions ended in W8

You can root and change roms on exynos, most likely only touchwiz roms at first but im sure there will be an aosp rom eventually, there's one being cooked right now for the s6.

Can't say for sure, but I would guess it's certainly a limited time promotion.

oh ok. $1000 kinda sucks though since out dollar is so weak, so i might end up selling the VR to recoup some money lol

Tell me about it. When I first saw the price I thought no way I was getting this. Changed my mind after the initial shock subsided.

The rep at sherway didn't tell me the price because he said they were instructed not too, probably because it would give everyone a heart attack.
So - S7s are shipping and Christmas for many of us Android users is almost here. I've rooted every Android I've ever had, but I really am considering leaving my S7 Edge stock to use Samsung Pay. I figured I'd put a poll out there and kick off any discussion the pros and cons of rooting. Thoughts?
I'll probably root eventually. I'd like to see how it performs out of the box first, but I bank with a local credit union that will likely never get Samsung Pay (They only got Apple pay last year), so that's not an issue for me.
I got the Note 5 a month and a half ago when we moved to T-Mobile, and came from the Nexus 6. The Note 5 is the first phone I had not rooted in the first week. There was an app to freeze the bloat I did not without rooting and I love my Android Pay. Only thing I miss from rooting my phone now is adblock. However I can live with the ads to keep the Android Pay functions.
nvm
I rooted and loaded custom ROM on all my phones except the Note Edge. the support wasn't there for it and AT&T really locked things down. but honestly, I didn't really miss much... I don't think I'll be doing any of that. I also want to try samsung pay and kinda wish my Gear S had the NFC to make that even easier. Might get S2 Classic 4G just for that honestly.
Adguard my friend Google it. I love Samsung pay and with the s7/e performing like they do I certainly don't need root. Maybe someday if CM comes along I'll consider it but for now Adguard is enough for me.
So the question still there... Samsung pay going to work on rooted device or not. Anyone tried?
Samsung Pay is a banking app and here in the UK my banking app (Lloyds bank) doesn't work with my rooted Galaxy S5.
Is not really an option always use an app to freeze the bloat (have used something like that call "Hide my Root") as was saying kxhaz
There should be alternative for that...
I switched to Verizon from Sprint and may be regretting that decision as Verizon is blocking the Samsung 15GB of cloud access I was using on Sprint. Seems that Verizon is being the greedy company as they are forcing you to buy anything over 5GB of cloud storage. I find the Samsung cloud backs up more when it comes to phone settings then the Verizon one does. I understand all carriers put their own software on the phone but I never had a vendor block and app or feature such as that. Debating on just switching back to Sprint.
have you tried side loading?
I don't have the app installer to even try that, it is also not in the Play Store, it was something Samsung installed. If I used Quick Shortcut maker I can see it in "activities" but it won't launch properly. I think Verizon did something to prevent it from loading.

They did this on the Note 7, I think eventually a way was found. Try searching the verizon note 7 forums.
If Samsung provides free functionality on the phone that duplicates something that Verizon offers for a monthly fee - like cloud storage, for example - that Samsung free feature will be removed by Verizon.
Last year, they removed Samsung's "FindMyMobile" feature from the S7. When I inquired about why it was removed, they steered me toward their VZ Protection service - that has similar locate and wipe capabilities - for only $11.99/month.
Ever wonder how they got to be worth $200 billion?

why would they put a apk inside their store? Does this even work?
When is Samsung going to get a backbone and stand up to this bull****? Apple tells Verizon to F-Off, so should Samsung.

What advantage does the Samsung FindMyMobile have over the base Google "Android Device Manager" (which does work with my Verizon S8+)?
https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
Did anyone figure out how to get this working on the S8? I tried the short cut method and had no success

I looked into this and I found out that FindMyMobile can turn location services on, which is useful for me as I usually leave location off unless I need it. I believe my verizon s5 had included, so somewhere along the line verizon forced it to be removed.
Anyone doing some more research into getting samsung cloud working? especially now that verizon decided it's cloud would go pay onlyand stop the free service (except for contacts)?? I found the history on the note 7, but the number of running services/processes was 3 or 4 vs just 1 on the s8 when viewing it with quickshortcutmaker...

Flash the unlocked firmware on it.
I found a way to do it. About to post a guide.
Confirmed they are blocking it. You must use VPN to bypass. :good: Bye Net Neutrality. Welcome great firewall of Trump*cough* China.
Random question: currently running jrkruse's TMO VZW hybrid rom. Right now T-Mobile is offering a free Gear VR with controller when you buy a galaxy s8 from them. Any way to get access to this offer? I know it's a long shot since you need proof of purchase and all that. Just wondering if anyone out there knows if it's in any way possible. Thanks!

Actually, nevermind. Plz ignore this. looks like the time to claim the offer has expired.
I recently purchased a one plus 6t. The seller did a very good job of hiding the fact that its a t mobile variant. I know this version causes issues but im still going to try and root it. The device has been unlocked for all carriers. Does this mean the phones software has been converted to the standard one plus software meaning I dont have to contact t mobile to unlock the bootloader? If not what should my next plan of action be? Any suggestions or info welcome and appreciated.

but as far as I know, the google pay could not be active in this case. So, you need to check if it is configuraable even though you have no plans to use it.
