After last night I'm running the rooted 4.4.2. I installed Titanium Backup Pro. How do I block OTA updates to protect my current installation?
Thanks.

If it's the deodexed version Beans already removed it. Otherwise freeze localFOTA or FotaClient. I also froze FWUpgrade, SamsungUpdates and the two Software Update apk's as well.
Thanks. I'm on the Odex version.

This is what I do to block updates to the phone that could take root away or other features unique to the leaked ROM. For browser ads you could try Adaway.

I don't see Adaway in the Play Store. You will have to use the link I provided.

No problem, glad to help.
As the title states, what is a system less root ? This is my first nexus so I'm getting used to the mods, ROMs and bits n bobs.
Cheers in advance.

Previous chainfire supersu writes in the /system partion, specifically in /system/su directory. This makes some of the security conscience application to reject phones that has /system modified. The newer version of chainfire supersu relocate the files to /su directory, and can pass the security check provided the /su/xbin_bind symbolic link is removed.

Would that mean that previously failed apps which require a non rooted system to work? That's amazing if that's the case.

Yes. As long as you are on stock, android pay will work with systemless root. You just can't use xposed.

I mean like my work email, (good for enterprise) barclays, Lloyds. Great about android pay.
Is there a workaround for getting Xposed to work or something similar that offers some tweaks?
A tip for someone new to ROMS and flashing. If you use Google Authenticator, or any other authenticator app, like Blizzard Authenticator, or Steam Mobile Guard, make sure you deactivate it before you flash anything.

I've got the 6p mate wasn't that keen on the 5x
I decided as soon as I'd seen both that the 6p was for me but I was unsure with the camera bump
But it's not as much of a bump as I thought it was gonna be
I really wanted the gold one but as it wasn't available I went for the aluminium

How easy is rooting?
Bootloader, recovery, SU, for some reason i get a flag on boot, apparently i didn't decrypt my data partition? Do i need to do that?

Encryption is totally up to you mate you don't need to do it
Rooting is very easy
Unlocking the bootloader gives a warning screen before the Google logo appears but is nothing to worry about

I went with systemless root but now when I go into recovery I can't see my files in the system. It's just blank and says 0mb. Anyone know why it's happening?

I'm not sure because I haven't taken the 2nd update yet. If you are on PB5 you are can try downgrading to PB4 with the files here. It will either downgrade or not. I doubt it will hurt anything if it fails.

No problem at all. I'm not sure what the phone was shipped with but PB4 was the 2nd update, my guess would be PB3. I use the Verizon messaging app because it's easy to make a backup.

idk anymore lol - taking this update from s-off/unlocked is going to be a PIA
in general just waiting on anything that might be easier than having to unroot, uninstall supersu, revert back to stock recovery (i think that is where i was thinking you might have just that img), then take s-on and s-off/locked .... i assume these are the steps

meh... wait for andy or todd to do a custom firmware zip and rom update and you won't even have to wipe!
Anyone know how to get rid of the update notification and keep it from popping up?

I apologize for all of us who take your great work for granted buddy. Don't know what we got till it's gone and even then some of us don't know or care lol. I wish more of us would show our appreciation more. My whole HTC experience has always been dependent on Dottat, Andybones, Santod, jcase, beaups and a few others I can't remember. But there isn't many. I know your work and assistance has helped us all tremendously. If it wasn't for you guy's the HTC experience would go from the best to the worst just like that. My phone choice is always dependent on whether or not you guy's are gonna get the next HTC or not. Pretty big deal if you ask me! I think HTC should put you all on their payroll! HaHa

Device runs hotter than before with this update, also got a overheated message after I came back to view if update was completed. Never had this before.
Check, another fail I guess.

You think you are gonna get a different answer if you post this question in different threads? If you read about Magisk, you would know it only works with unlocked bootloaders. Maybe in the future someone will get something to work, and as soon as that happens it will be posted here in the forums..
So is this version rootable with engboot or not? I cannot find a definite answer.
